If you haven't done so already, you might look through the blinds and find the first skin that mentions it. It may take awhile however I admit since you can't search the descriptions. I am curious myself though about this since I don't see the point. I guess it allows more flexibility in the design of the menu, but personally I find it looks too weird. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/s

It can be difficult coming up with a name you not only like, but that isn't already taken. Upon seeing your name choice I recalled immediately that it had been used before. Certainly to be associated with that name would give you immediate recognition, however it would be like lying to people also. I don't think it matters whether you have permission or not, since its had a prior incarnation, it comes with preconcieved ideas. You want to be able to create your own ideas onto your customers.<

I believe there are not too many skinning it as of yet since everytime a new version came out it broke some existing skins. I do not know how easy or difficult it is to skin as I don't skin. However I do hope more get into skinning for it as it becomes more widely used.

Unfortunately they are sticklers for having their skins stored where they say. DX can easily import from other directories, however once imported the objects/themes are copied to the DX folder anyway. WB can also import .wba files from other folders, which it then creates a folder for the skin in its main directory. So as far as I know you can't force them to use another directory, unless you installed them into that directory when installing. I usually use the directory structure give

This request was made before. It is hopeful that a trillian section will be added at some point. I agree that deviantart has them, but their interface completely turns me off to the site, as well as being a slow site to load on dailup. However it seems the main trillian site rarely has new skins which makes me wonder how many people are even making skins for it. Most of the skins lack any imagination so I'm forced to stick with a skin that is ok, but at least is an improvement over the de

I don't think I can answer them all, but will answer what I can. 1> Weather trackers. Using DesktopX and ObjectDock I've explored several of these. None have worked for me. I'm pretty sure the problem is with weather.com - can't even access it with browser. Has anyone had a working weather object in the last week or longer? No problems at all

I've used winamp since 1.x days and I only saw it drift from its original idea with version 3.0 . I think it has added more simply because that is what many people ask for. No one said you had to upgrade. If you prefer the older versions than help yourself to them. I like Winamp how it is, does what I need and some of the additions I have liked as well. I'm especially glad that free form skins have become more the norm as I got tired of the same ol shape even if I usually kept it minimize

Personally I haven't seen the point in viewing that section. I suppose its possible it might inspire me to use something I might not otherwise, however I pretty much know what I'm looking for anyway. Another reason I don't frequent it is I am on dialup. It sucks as it is waiting for images of skins I might use, but to wait for simply a screenshot isn't worth it to me. I even usually avoid the Screenshot thread that is created each month. I am interested in that at least, but it takes awh

I'm just appalled by the number of false statements StyleXP has on its website. They say they "started the 3rd party visual styles craze." Are they that ignorant? WB was around long before StyleXP even thought of existing. There are numorous other statements that detail their ignorance. It is funny that they don't have the balls to mention Windowblinds directly in any of their statements, just refer to other 3rd party software. They know if they mention it, they will be exposed. Its

Although I think the title is a bit condesending to those first-time skinners who upload or even those who truly do put out junk, I think its helpful to have whatever tools at our disposal to be able to locate skins we like. Chances are good if one skin caught someone's eye then it might also catch mine. However I have an idea (that may be in the works I don't know) that could help elleviate some of the concerns expressed here. Concerns about some skins getting lost in the shuffle.

I totally agree that overall designs have been rather bland. Not only that, often I have tried one I like and there are things that don't look right or aren't skinned properly. I don't know if people are rushing to finish the skins or just don't have experience. I can remember several years ago being totally impressed with Aquarium by Alexandrie, one that still does get featured from time to time with the help of DesktopX. I was blown away by the animation in the title bars. Not

That is one thing that happens from time to time, because people upload individual icons in OD, other new items can be pushed down too fast. I think there should be a limit of 2 uploads a day for that section. It would help with others getting pushed out perhaps and might encourage more to put their OD icons into a pack. I would think most unless its a unique program, most would want a pack. <img src="http:

I can't understand why people wouldn't want or dislike tabbed browsing. Managing tabs is much easier than managing windows. I could never tell before which window was the one I wanted with IE, but with tabs its right in front of me. Its much faster to switch tabs than to switch windows also. To each their own of course, just don't know why you enjoy suffering so much Sometimes I don't think people

Well I think "updates" there refers to the application itself not the programs you can download. However I imagine that in getting it ready for the updated look, the info for each program was tweaked, therefore it appears as an update, even if it really isn't.

Unless a program like WB reaches the necessity point, it is unlikely it will be too popular. People aren't taught enough that they can change things up. Lots of people don't know how to change the resolution, but also willing to bet they also don't even realize they can change the basic Luna theme to two other themes. The average PC user simply wants things to work. They don't care about looks or even organization. I gag everytime I see someone else's screen and its full of icons on

I am happy to hear that they are being revamped. However I know at one site I used to frequent they didn't know number of posts. I don't think that is critical info. Also people tend to use it as a measuring stick for how active someone is. Just because someone doesn't post a lot doesn't mean they don't read plenty of threads. Sometimes its better to not say anything I like the GUIO one basically so

To me that "classic" view isn't so classic. Now when clicking on a skin it doesn't show up anywhere. Before you could click on the listing and it would show that skin to the right. Now in order to view the skin in classic mode you have to click view/add comments AFTER clicking the skin. Or have to click large preview button. Certainly for hi speed users the changes are much appreciated. However for us lowly dialup users it is more frustrating. The thumbnails section also doesn't p

I've tried it before and whether you email a little or a lot its a lot of bulk that isn't needed. The animations slow everything down. It looks cute, once maybe twice. So what that's its skinnable, so is Thunderbird. Just thunderbird is far more practical as an everyday email program. </A

I generally keep a player hidden while its running and Winamp has done the job the best. I find WMP and MMJB to be more resource hungry. However I use MMJB for ripping since I like how it does that better than others I have tried. I especially like the feature in the modern skin for WA5 that shows a notification of which song is playing when a new one starts. WMP can do that, but seems only when its in the taskbar. For those who are scared of trying WA5 and stick with 2.x . Sure 2.x wor

I was also using the freeware version and I refuse to buy a plugin for a free program. That is just plain wrong in my book and really should not be allowed. However I guess enough ppl are buying into it. Anyway I am registered at the site, it didn't cost anything to do that. I'm not sure what the point of it is, except you can get notification of updates. I think the author thinks he's created the next big thing or something, not just an add-on. I found the help at the site to be worthl
