The border idea is interesting. Definitely like the idea of changing the default Start Screen font and allowing transparent tiles. OF course to allow transparent it would be nice if you could then alter existing tiles. I hadn't thought of blurring the background to match desktop using Decor8, but I rarely see the desktop (hidden behind windows) so doesn't really matter. I don't get the obsession with shutting down a pc, but don't need to replace the p

I'm not really sure what you are talking about. Do you mean the scrollbar? If so, you don't need to click anywhere, that just provides a visual clue there is a scroll bar, simply use your scroll wheel on your mouse to move it. Of course if you don't have a scroll mouse it is your loss, but works great. However I do have to say that for whatever reason they did make the little minus [-] button difficult to hit and the other way (control+ scroll wheel) while practical, is no
Unsure what Soldier is talking about, I'm not currently a paying subscriber and I can post, so he can voice his opinions freely. Anyhow I enjoy the site re-do very much. Just going to take getting used as I'm used to glancing at the news now I have to click to read the article.
I really like Win7. Although Vista ran well for me, 7 just continues it plus improved on some things. Someone mentioned they disliked Windows Media Player, big deal so don't use it. I dislike it for many reasons but that isn't a reason to hate Win7. I have found myself though using my Linux partition more exclusively now than Windows. I guess I needed a change of scenery for now that even Stardock products can only go so far towards providing. Still Win7 is a touchdown for MS IMHO.
It is there. Under "Explore" you have to select "Customize" and check the box for Sysmetrix.
It isn't working right for me for some reason. First I went into customize and saved it and nothing changed. Then I decided I'll click Home and re-load the page basically. I went into customize again and after I saved it showed only CursorFX but I had selected several other things as well. Tried it one more time and the same thing. On Win7 using Firefox 3.6 If it ends up working I'll let you know, but so far no luck. &nbs
I do wish Object could automatically sort things into the right folders. Its been my one peeve about it that I have to manually move each background type into the right location.
The image below shows a link to the Beta site for Wincustomize but it doesn't work and I thought it was "wincustomizetest.com" anyway ;)
Not a chance I'll get this. Its Apple for one, and I don't like their way of doing things, but also I don't see the need.
I've been using it again since it was updated for Win7, it is a terrific skin, well earned title.
On the front page where it lists New/Popular skins, to see New ones you can't click on the tab labelled new. You have to click on the smaller word "more" in the lower right of that section. Just seems natural to click on New IMO.
The hover on top menu bar isn't working for me when in the Forums. I should be able to place the mouse on the words and have a menu pop up but I get nothing when in the forms. I have to click on it, and am then taken to a page.
I'm finding I don't need the old skin browser anymore finally. The old website didn't make looking at skins easy to do, so I used the Skin Browser. Can finally say goodbye to Stardock Central with WC2k10
I totally agree, it would help spread the word of customizing a lot easier plus could help generate traffic for the site.
I don't see anything different between them, except for IE8 loadsd slower than FF 3.6
Excellent comparison. Isn't strange how when WC2k7 was introduced we thought it was awesome lol. (except for the lack of skinning which the site continues to lack to this day despite promising it. Neowin has a nice skinning feature so need one here as well.
Been there and found it exciting and the video helps explains things even more. Awesome job :)
I like the newer look of the galleries. Its not only more compact but the screenshots are larger. Much better New Skins implimentation as well. Good work.
My question is why would you bother dual booting Windows 7 and Vista. There are fairly similar OS. IMHO it would have made more sense to dual boot with Linux.
It is true you are walking a tightrope now. I think XP was so ugly that skinning exploded but now that Aero overall is very usual, people are less likely to want to skin. I know I find myself changing skins far less than I used to do it. I'm not a big fan of the mild Aero makeover, you can do that with Win7 natively. I know it isn't as fancy as WB7, but for many its enough. I want interfaces that shine, but take things to a different direction. I think the Hybrid is a viable solution, more
Thanks. It worked. I saw the other post but it mentioned about Days messed up and that wasn't my issue so thought it might be something else.
Anyone know if there is a problem now with the ObjectDock weather Docklet? I'm using the one that comes with OD+ and for the past couple of days it won't update, it says Feed not available. I know DesktopX had a problem with it not long ago, is it now affecting OD?? Perhaps just a temporary setback, but unsure why its not working. On Win7 btw.
It is impressive but no really complicated skins were shown. It has been annoying how long some skins took to load, so we'll see if this is really an improvement.
Plus Stardock is always updating programs so even when you have ObjectDesktop 2010, it is just a snapshot. Well worth it if you like even just a couple of programs in it.
I'll have mine tomorrow as it was pre-ordered and have to pick it up at UPS. I'm surprised at the lines as well, good to see though as it is worth using this OS unless your PC can't handle it.
