How do I go about getting Version 2.0 of Galciv 2?
Register your game in Impulse, go to the "My Games" tab, and hit the "Update" button. If don't have Impulse for some reason, you can get it here http://impulsedriven.com/about.aspx Also, it will be the GC2 expansion packs (Dark Avatar, Twilight of the Arnor) that are being updated to v2.0. The base game (gc2: Dreadlords) has a latest version
I was looking on Ebay for some inexpensive video cards... any suggestions on what brand/type I should look at?
In response, I'll quote from our "Catch-All, Support Thread" https://forums.politicalmachine.com/315413
The game needs a card that natively supports Pixel Shader 2.0, namely: NVidia GeForce FX series and higher ATI Radeon 9500 and higher Intel cards: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-014
I don't think you can change the screen rez in that game. If you don't want it to take up the whole screen when it starts you can check the box that says "Start Game in Window" in the Options menu, which you can get to by pressing the "Options" button from the Main Menu. Hopefully, that helps you out somewhat.
is it a Laptop or a Desktop? If it's a laptop, you're kinda stuck with what it came with - as far as the video card anyway.
I get only a white screen
A white screen indicates that the video card you have is not capable of rendering the game properly.
RADEON 9250
A minimum requirement of the game is a "DirectX 9.0c compatible video card". In your case, you have an ATI Radeon branded card. The lowest ATI Radeon card that supports DirectX 9.0c is the ATI Radeon 9500.
haha, good to hear man. If you do start having graphical problems, it could be related to your older video drivers. If you run into issues, repost in this thread and we can walk ya through updating the video drivers.
Here is a copy of the ERR file: BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A15
Tony, It looks like a few lines at the very beginning of the debug.err file did not get pasted into your post. There are normally about 10 lines before the BIOS information. These would be things like, what version of the game you are running, what operating system you have, etc... These things are useful in finding out how to help you. Regardless, f
A quick tip that you may not already know is that you can switch the View of the map to be "State Wealth". The default is "Awareness". You'll see it up at the top, near the turn counter in the upper right corner. Click the down arrow of the combo box to switch to different views. In State Wealth View, the darker yellow, the better. Fund raise in those states to really bring home the cash. Another tip for earning money is to build "Campaign HQs". You

I voted at 10:45am. Plenty of parking available, no line. I was in-and-out in the amount of time it took me to get the ballot, fill it out, turn it in, and put on my "I voted" sticker.
The "debug.err" file is located at "Documents/My Games/PolMachine2008/". It can be opened with notepad. Please post the entire contents of it here. The file will have general system specs as well as game messages that can help us track down your issue.
What am I to do? If anyone have any suggestions or can try to help me, let me know and I can start a new post with my debug.err attached.
crdroxxpl, Definitely start a new thread. In it, describe the problem you are having, and then post the entire contents of your "debug.err" file (which can be opened with notepad and is located at "documents/my games/polmachine2008/"). Once we see the contents of the file, we can see what might be happening and be

-To play the game on a different scenario, choose Quick Play from the main menu and use the "Scenario" drop down to change the scenario. Continue from that point setting up the game as usual. -To play by yourself, against the AI, you can choose either Quick Play or Campaign Play from the main menu. Technically, you could also choose Multiplayer from the main menu, create a match, and then check the box that says "Use AI Opponent". Another useful tip is to check out

Hey Josh, In order to help you the most, we'll need to see the contents of a file that the game creates everytime it is run. It's called "debug.err" and is located at "....documents/my games/PolMachine2008/". Just open it with notepad and paste the entire contents in your reply. This file will have game messages as well as machine specs we can use to track down your problem.
That map is not meant to be accurate. The description of the scenario is "Europe as inaccurately imagined by a typical American high school student", or something similar. It's meant to be funny. There are countries called "Pole Land", "Little Spain", "Invaidia", "Alabamia", and "Irish Land". I would think that those would bother you as well, but you make no mention of them. Anyways, it's meant to be a funny map. Just go with it. [e digicons]:)[/
I bought this game knowing full well that it requires 512RAM, while my computer came with 448mb of RAM. ...Is there anything I can do about this? Anything to make it let me try running it, even if the computer is a little slow and congested?
The retail disc installer of the game does have a check in there to make sure you at least meet the minimum requirement for RAM. It's always a good idea to put in as much RAM as your motherboard will allow.&nbs
Um, you have it automatically. When you select your guy and then right click on a state, he'll move to that state via the jet (or train, or spaceship - depending on which scenario you are playing).
When you press the "Multiplayer" button on the main menu it will cause a window to pop up that says "Impulse Log-In." The "LAN GAME" button will be on that window. Is this where you are looking and not seeing it?
