That's exactly like my situation and must be some kind of "bug" with the scaled difficulty levels. Its good to know, at least, that its not a GOP v. Democrat thing since its happening to you as a Democrat and me as a Republican.

Let me just point out one state that I can't figure out in this campaign. Week 41: Texas Carter: 50% Me: 41% Awareness: 92% 100% More Jobs: 37 49 Iraq: -8 34 Terror: 5 34 HQ L

My awareness is 100% in the states that matter. Furthermore, in my latest attempt to defeat Carter, I spent the last 10 weeks doing nothing but giving speeches in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Texas and Florida. I have yet to win a single one, despite starting ahead of Carter in all of them in week 30. I have TONS of ads in Texas, Florida, and Illinois. I have webmasters in Ill and FLA and a movie producer in Florida. I have three TV ads in Flo

There is something fundamental that I am not understanding about the game. In week 30, I was leading handily nationally and was certainly beating Carter by at least 8 points in Texas, Florida, New York, Ohio, and Illinois. Within two weeks, Carter had turned all of those states Democratic, and by the end of the campaign, he had won with me only polling 172 electoral votes. He did this despite not winning a single issue in any of the

They do get 3 electoral votes you know. Did you roll those three votes into Maryland, eliminate them entirely (which throws off the 271-270 calculation), or what? I know the District is denied Congressional representation, but its probably not right to deny them their electoral votes.

Completely agree. I'd also like to see the popular vote breakdown state by state. Plus have an option to save the endgame for later review.

Agree with most of what the reviewer said. My first impressions are that the game is great but needs a few tweaks. 1. Much, much slower election night results. It goes way too fast. I'd like to savor each state result. 2. More ways to increase national awareness. If I don't visit Idaho, the 70-30 ratio of Republicans to Democrats should still deliver the state to Bush in most cases. 3. Endorsements are too powerful.

Fair enough. Just voicing my theoretical concerns. I'm sure I'll get the hang of doing it, I just don't like the idea of using my reflexes in this kind of game.

Frogboy, But is manual reflexes and arcadey style point and clicking really the kind of skill Political Machine is supposed to be testing? It just seems silly in a game with so much strategy and depth that a major part of the game is decided by who clicks fastest. I didn't buy the game to hone my fast clicking reflexes.

The frozen candidate bug is worse than I thought. I think that the AI, once it was frozen in Washington, could not place ads anywhere but Washington. Furthermore, once my running mate appeared, I could not select him. My other system specs: Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz 1024 RAM Direct X 9.0b ATI Radeon 9800 128MB video memory Sound Blaster Audigy Anything else?

To start, I am using Direct X 9.0b on an ATI Radeon 9800 using the Dec 2003 drivers (6.14.0010.6414 from December 12th 2003). But I'm pretty sure these glitches have nothing to with my card, they seem to be minor bugs. 1. Sometimes the map will not update when a candidate moves. The candidate icon will stay in a state forever, while his plane zips around the nation showing his real location. The game will show all events as occuring in the

I agree with you in terms of a multiplayer game, but against the AI having something be real time gives the AI an enormous advantage. I've only played a few Bush v. Kerry games (losing both because I still havent' got the knack for how to not run out of money in week 31-35) and Kerry grabs those ? immediately when they pop up. Its just an unfair AI advantage. You need to cause the turn to pause when the turn changes. Mine does not

I'm not sure how this could have survived any beta testing, but why are the special events claimed in a real time format? The AI can grab those special events before I even see that they exist and this is a huge advantage over the course of the game. The turn changes from one week to the next and before I know what has happened (sometimes when the news summary is popping up), the AI candidate is popping around the map grabbing the special eve

Please charge me then. How do we get our serial numbers? I just pre-ordered. I want to thank Nakor and Frogboy for all their posts and apologize if I seemed rude due to my frustration at the weirdness of the release of this game (like St. Botoph's, I think I was just confused as to why we couldn't download the game). Thank you again.

I think EB's date will probably slide into next week. They don't usually ship low-priority games more than once a week. This is what they've told me repeatedly when I was trying to buy Paradox/Strategy First games from them (something I'll never try again). I'd give my left arm for just a guessitimate date from Stardock on when we can download the game directly. If its not going to be today or tomorrow, I'd order overnight from Ubi Soft. I

I'm no clearer on anything except that trying to use a retailer combined with trying to download directly was completely the wrong strategy for acquiring this game. The retailers didn't receive or wont' ship the game on-time, and you can't download directly.

87 Replies 59,719 Views

EBgames still says the ship date is the 11th, so maybe it will hit stores today. Gamestop, however, has pushed the game all the way to the 16th, suggesting that it will ship this week at all. The moral of this story was to deal directly with UBI Soft. Its a pity that Stardock could not allow customers to download the game on time and its also a pity that UBI soft told me last week that ordering from them would be slower than pickin
