Oh and I forgot to mention that more democratic your goverment gets the harder it will be to keep morale over 50%. When playing late game on gigantic maps my tax rate was aroung 11% and sometimes a bit lower to help me get elected. ~SDC~

1. You have to research Alliance tech 2. The Empire you want to allie with has to have "Close" relationships with you 3. That Empire has to have Alliance tech also Once all this is the case you will see Alliance in your diplomacy screen. :) ~SDC~

Here is my strategy when sending out colony ships when playing large maps: Most of the colony ships I send out have around 20 mil. people on them. These ships are for colonizing 15-16 class planets Every once in a while I send out a colony ship with around 100 mil. These ships are for colonizing any 17+ planets which I than use to crank out some more colony ships. ~SDC~

I have heard this from others... Kakupacal you used Archive & Install option right? That seems to download the files and archives them before they are installed. I have just downloaded the game (Install without archive) and once it is done I can archive the game in SDC. I also checked the archive zip and the files in it were exactly the same as on the harddrive, meaning they don't need to be expanded.

Alternative aproach: First increase your budget spending to 100%, set your military production to 80%, social to 0%, research to 20%. You can play with these values a bit and set military to 60% and research to 40% or do M60% S20% R20% and so on. This way you will be cranking out colony ships en masse, but your treasury will go down slowly, so make sure you don't go in to red. Once you get close down to around 100 even out lower the budget spending so that you are maybe loosing a few bu

You can upgrade your Starbase with a repair module which will add 1 hp to any dameged ship in the sector every turn I think. You can also research repair, and advanced forms of it, which will allow your ships to repair on their own. Higher the tech faster the repair. ~SDC~

Uhmm.. The only thing with auto-offer would be that the computer might want to give away things you don't want to part with. I rarely trade Military tech with other Empires and when I do I make sure I am ahead of them even if I give them that specific tech. I do agree that auto-offer would be helpful when you are first staring out (or just don't want to bother with it), but speaking from experiance after playing a coupple of games you get a rough undestanding of how much to offer (given

Usualy the text in the middle of the screen will change colour from yellow to green. Green meaning they will accept your offer. If you are not strong in diplomacy or if the Empire you are talking with are stronger in diplomacy than you you will have to give them quite a bit more than they will give you. Getting them to declare war, especialy on someone who they like or trade with can be costly. As a general tip I would say diplomacy techs and bonuses are quite important in this game. Ei

I don't know... yesterday I finished my first game on Large galaxy with all AI set to Bright. Now I am trying to scale up to inteligent, but from what I can see that AI level means business... Granted some random events can put you back a bit but I thought recession is galaxy wide, so all Empires are effected not just you. I rarely put all my eggs in the military bag. You have to be able to fend off an attack, make sure to follow the military graph and stay competitive. I find that str
