If I were a betting man I would put my money on an Edwards v Jeb Bush match-up, placing more money on Jeb to run than anyone in the field. I would put odds at about 90%. If his brother can mess up this much and not have it work against him, then nothing will. There is no way that Dems will nominate Hillary. She would galvanize the enemy base against her even more than what her husband would.

Vox Populi (Anonymous) - 11/2/2004 10:33:49 AM The inevitable result of Kerry's tax increases, mandatory student service (draft) and health policies would be rationaing of health care, increased unemployment, increased deficits and lower economic growth. Add to this the impact of allowing the UN to dictate our policies on th
If Bush is elected, we will still be talking about Iraq in 2008 when his brother runs.
Compared to JFK I have him not as charismatic or comely, but more compassionate, experienced, higher minority appeal.

I notice that some of the characters that are posted here have additional stats that don't show up in my game, stats like Bush/Kerryadvantage, competence, Democrat/Republicanloyalty, nationalistic, judgement, mainstream, and worldaffairsknowledge. What version is that from? When I download these characters, my game rewrites them to its format without those stats.
Very nice, I only had a chance to look at a few so far. You just know that win or lose for W, Jeb is going to be running in 2008. I would hesitate to over value some of the characters just for game purposes. For example, there is no way a political novice like Colin Powell would be able to organize a campaign so perfectly that he would have a 10 stamina.
Citizen nyvelion - 11/1/2004 5:14:57 AM Judging by what the NON ai Bush and Kerry are focusing on, it would seem like Florida would be the biggest swing state right now... since Iowa(7) + Ohio(20) = Florida(27). Why is Florida considered an easy Bush win here? delusion?
Citizen Darviathar - 10/31/2004 4:38:37 PM Where can I get JFK for download? Look under Jeffery Pinnard's thread about new characters or in Jaguar James thread about downloading 42 characters.
It also worked in 1932 when the Redskins were in Boston then known as the Braves.
Everytime I get to the random event with the big money donor he dissappears from the game and I am not able to utilize him. It was working correctly until I downloaded vers 1.02. As far as I know, the other features are working correctly.
No, I'm not talking about taking Jeffery Pinnard's Jesus and pitting him against Homer Simpson. I am talking about a straight game, no cheats or perfect custom characters. What was the difficulty level and margin of victory. So far I have gotten over 5 million on tough mode with Pinnard's Kennedy (slightly modified down for realism) against Bush Sr.
The manual is kind of vague, saying that a speech will "increase your presence in that state and the position you take will affect (sp) you nationally as well." I have heard that making speeches builds that issue as being more imporant nationally. Is it with speeches then that you can decide which issues the public should look at?
Citizen mtmdem - 10/25/2004 4:04:33 PM How do you unlock a candidate without playing them in camapaign mode? You go into the data file under core candidates, copy down their stats (make sure not to make any changes in this file or you won't be able to play multiplayer mode), create a new character a
Citizen latour999 - 10/30/2004 9:34:26 PM My favorite character (custom Dean) has 15 stamina, and starts with a lot of fundraising and money. I start by building 2 biggies (usually TX, then CA), do a little fundraising, and then build a third in either his home state or FL. Then, I will be getting enough $$ to build a level
Just played Clinton in campaign mode and he managed to spend $31 million despite not building many HQs and none to second level. Additionally I believe the computer knows when to avoid the bad results from random events, another advantage they have. Additionally the issues that matter tend to favor the computer team in which issues matter the most.
I think its simplistic to think that because Hoover was not an effective President, that he would be such a horrible candidate as drawn. His religious appeal would be much higher as he was probably behind Carter the most religious President of the century. To give him zero competence overlooks that before he was elected he was entrusted to practically run the government for Harding and Coolidge, was chosen to feed Europe after both world wars, was in
While I don't like the game as much, I think Power Politics III does a much better job in building the suspense for election day. The map should bring up the state view when its turn comes up so you can see the difference in the victory. Instead we have to click on every state to find out the polling for that state. Perhaps instead of showing the night, they should show a screen like the networks do with a picture of the candidate and his margin of
You all can scare yourselves with the crap Bush says Kerry will do in office. For me the incompetence that Bush has shown for the last four years and the pandering to big business scares me even more.
I know that HQs are important, but I can't see building that many to level 3 status. Sure they bring in the big bucks, but they cost $1.75 million to build. Do you build up gradually to start with 10 level ones, then build 10 level 2? and move from there? I just think the overall cost is too much. Its crippling in the short term. It also doesn't allow to do anything else. In order to move to a new state and build to level 3 is 13 stamina points.
Moderator Frogboy - 10/27/2004 12:17:45 PM I hate to tell you this but it doesn't "cheat" except that at the very highest level it gets more money. And I find the game quite easy to beat even on the hardest level to the point whree in 1.1 I want to tone up the AI at the hardest levels. You may want to alter you
No idea how to copy the screens but here is the result of my latest game. I used Jeffery Pinnard's JFK (slightly toned down for realism) and my own invention of William Proxmire (standard created character) for VP against Dick Cheney on challenging mode. Kennedy won the popular vote 79 million to 51.3 million and the electoral college 465 to 73. Kennedy lost only
The argument that Democrats are soft on foreign affairs is a creation of the conservative media machine. It has been in place since the Truman era with McCarthy and MacArthur painting him as soft on communism. It continued in the Kennedy era where he went against his own judgement in giving the go ahead for the Bay of Pigs so that he would not seem soft on communism. It continued in escalating the number advisors in Vietnam. The last Democrat to es
I downloaded the JFK file and found it be be pretty true to the facts. In the stats of charisma and comliness Kennedy set the bar. The definition of media bias perfectly describes JFK whom the press corps found intelligent, humorous, accessable and even friendly. I also think you could bump up military experience and minority appeal a bit. I would push down the experience, integrity and credibility a bit.
