This is a little different spin on the game which uses candidates from the Jacksonian Democracy era vs Whigs and Federalists who were the precursors to Lincoln's Republican party. I would like to play with the issues to make them more to those of the times, but that is not feasible. Rules are a little different to simulate campaigns of the era: 1) Only newspaper ads are allowed with no media interviews 2) Only level 1 hqs allowed<br

The reason deterrence was effective in the Cold War relied on the fact that the US had already used nuclear weapons, and thus could be trusted to do it again. That's a bunch of crap. The whole world knew that the Americans starting a nuclear war would cause the extinction of the human race. The US and

Do you have any *proof* of this? I thought not. Its been publically brought to light out that Bush was planning to invade Iraq even before the 9/11 attacks. After the attacks he assumed that it was Iraq responsible, and asked the intelligence community for proof of this.

[ Then I'm sorry about that. But even so that would not give you the right to say no smoking in bars now would it? I can't tell anybody to do squat. I can make my opinion known but it would be to no avail because we have a nutcase here in town that believes he is more important than he is promising to b

If you yourself are unable to start one and you will not frequent the already non-smoking bars, then you should have no gripes with the ones who still permit it. Or the people who smoke in them. No one is forcing you to use those facilities are they? there are no non smoking bars here. Once again,

It's possible that they get a game error than kills the game wondow before the end of the election 85% of the time, as mine does. possibility, but when I go back to the find game menu, they are gone. I wouldn't put the total at 85%, the problems are not as bad with the latest patch 1.02.

I'm sorry but this is just waaaaay uncool. DelMar, Calif no longer allows people to smoke on the streets or in their car. If they're spotted smoking in their car, they are pulled over and ticketed. Where does it stop? I haven't smoked in over 5 years now. But I would and will defend som

I read Gen. Franks book, American Soldier, and this is what it says "When President Bush focused world attention on the threat of Iraq, Franks seized the moment to implement a bold new vision of joint warfare in planning Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rejecting Desert Storm-style massive troop deployment in favor of flexibility and spe

We *have* some viable other parties. It's just that they don't have the money to backup their mouth. Or the patience to try to build a network of public servants. How can these parties run for president when they don't have a single member of congress, a single governor or state legislator and in almos

Got Trudeau, Mackenzie King, and MacDonald on my computer. I downloaded some stats because I found that none of them had served in the military and thus should not get above a 5 on military experience. I also lowered some other stats for MacDonald as well per he is built on too many points. I also changed their states to ME because its the closest to Canada in geography and ideology. Oh like booze is any healthier? If you don't like the smoke, go find a no smoking club or better yet stay home and drink. The bars are our last public bastion. I don't drink either, but I like to socialize. The only place to do so are crowed smoke filled b

don't see either side changing their views on abortion anytime soon. The only thing I could see the Democrats doing is maybe giving up on fighting the partial-birth ban. That and maybe taking the view that while they believe abortion should be legal, the number of abortions happening are too many. Then they could promote adoptio

I agree that smoking should be banned in most public places. And i'm a smoker. Just don't take it out of the bars, that's all i ask. As far as charging someone with abuse for smoking in their own house....Good thing you live in Canada, because that wouldn't fly in the US. Hell, I'd love to go to a bar

Democrats, you will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Some humility, modesty, and reason would improve your chances in 2008. What sort of honey did conservatives use? What sort of humility, modesty and reason did they show? The is a
