19th Century Multiplayer Challenge

This is a little different spin on the game which uses candidates from the Jacksonian Democracy era vs Whigs and Federalists who were the precursors to Lincoln's Republican party. I would like to play with the issues to make them more to those of the times, but that is not feasible.

Rules are a little different to simulate campaigns of the era:
1) Only newspaper ads are allowed with no media interviews
2) Only level 1 hqs allowed
3) No national endorsements
4) Travel is limited to 2 states in a turn, and only 2 states away
5) Political operatives are allowed with the exception of the consultant

Settings should be at:
World Peace, weak or strong economy (perhaps recession or depression if you want to simulate the 1840 election), and no internal dissention
there is a little leeway but bringing the global level up to tension brings the war in iraq issue into play, maybe the mexican war

The candidates are listed below. They have limited funds and fundraising ability.

Other candidates who could be created would be VP candidates John Tyler (R) and Millard Fillmore, who both came to be President upon the death of their successor. They did not have the popular support to run on their own. Other VP candidates could be John Calhoun (D), Richard Rush (R), John Sergeant (R), George Mifflin Dallas (D), Theodore Frelinghuysen (R), and William Ontario Butler (D) but I didn't want to do the extra research.

Other possible Pres candidates could include Franklin Pierce (D), Winfield Scott (R), James Buchanan (D) and John C. Fremont (R), but they were after the Jacksonian/Jeffersonian era ended. Additionally I did not include candidates before 1824 because they were elected by the electoral college alone.

Whoman, can you e-mail these candidates and any others to me? [email protected]. Then I'll play with you!

A simpler way would be to create a new candidate with just the name and state. Then copy and paste these stats over the ones created.

I think this would make an interesting and different type race. I think it would be better for the game if players were allowed to adjust the issues to A) create different type games where the main job of candidates is not just to ensure they come out well in the battle for the War on Terror and Homeland Security B) create historical races in more accuracy. While it might be interesting to see how some historical candidates would do against modern candidates, it doesn't make sense to assume that FDR will come down on a modern issue in a certain way just because of his party. Hopefully some of y'all will be in the multiplayer area tomorrow to try this out.
