not inviting comments is perfectly acceptable, because some people like to use the service as a personal journal, and we dont all want comments in our diaries! When you put it that way, I guess I must agree with you and BluDev. I actually don't understand the purpose of blogging without interaction / feedback, but I can see this angle. Locking threads that get out of control is a good use of the option, but during the build

I'm glad you liked it, you should try the shows, they're excellent.

...mmm, these issues were being brought up during the election and have been talked about for a while. Recently, with insurance premiums going up, states going broke supporting a burgeoning prison population with your taxpayer dollars, and healthcare being available to fewer and fewer people because of cost, these issues are become urgently more pressing. Are you saying no? Keep u

Good points Bluedev, I do disagree, however, with your first point. I think anything posted is pretty much open for debate if not, at least, comment. This really is a small hair, to split, though, seeing as how I we agree on the main point....

I wanted to share this link with all of you. This leads to the directory listing of all the George Bush Shows created by a gifted flash developer. Republicans (especially ep. 7) and Democrats alike should get a kick out of these. The satire provided is excellent commentary and the production is top notch for such a small developing group. Keeping insurance companies happy is more important than universal health care; Malpractice is simply an occupational hazard Tort reform is essential to save business and health providers [less than 2% of costs]; Building new prisons is more important than repairing schools. These issues piss me off the most, the lack of them being hammered on is most disconc

I've been running in to a bunch of locked threads lately. It began with Wisefawn's but the trend has seemingly infected other bloggers. I back Draginol's statement on JU syndication and the insinuation that locking threads is a bit unjust and stifles debate. The only purpose of locking a thread, it seems, is to get your opinion out and exclude outside comment. This destroys the full potential offered by JU and is a near abuse of the free service pro

The conversation you've recounted is very similar to any conversation I've heard or had with many of the "working poor" while on break or on the jobsite. I don't believe this to be exclusive to the black population.

You'd do well to remember that it was Saddam who starved his people, not the sanctions. That's the way I see it.

I had one woman tell me ,without provocation, that she hopes Bush drafts me and that I come home in a body bag. It sounds like this lady feels that if you were so strongly for the war in Iraq that perhaps you should "put your money where your mouth is" so to speak. You may feel justified in your gloating but most often it isn't seen as a positive personality trait. Also keep in mind that their was a lot of venom on both sides this y

I'm so sick of this ridiculous cry fest I'm hearing from the Democrats. Suck it up! MoveOn! Looks like you're too busy gloating to move on. You could have easily simply posted this in any thread where you saw such whining occuring, but, instead, weeks after the election you want to open up a new thread on the subject. Such class, but hardly surpising.

...ah, give it a rest, guys. TBone has contributed some of the most factual and articulate articles seen here. It's obvious he spends a lot of time and effort on his work. Even if one does not agree with the conclusions he draws, it would be nice to see a bit more encouragement for our fellow bloggers who work as hard at their craft as he. I can certainly understand TBone feeling attacked simp

there are now talks of the USA testing smart bombs in Australia ...yeah, let's do testing in the middle of the rain forest too! Are you that dense? Maybe we are testing new and improved stuff! Maybe we are testing in other climates! Maybe we are testing them for stability after theyve aged! Maybe the folks in charge of the militar

I'm not actually a democrat, but I am a member of the student dems on campus and helped the Democratic HQ in town during the election. Still a member of student dems for social reasons, but my main goal in helping them this year was to defeat Bush. I don't care for the "progressive" social agenda of the dems, but I hate the republican policies, so I don't know how active I'm going to continue to be - at least in this party.

Interesting how many libs dont see it this way when big business owners are raking in millions in ways they dont agree with.....hmmmm Now, now, zobelisk, that "liberal" talk hurts! Well, perhaps I confused the point earlier. Really it's the end-product people are buying which is personally tied to Moore as evidenced by any of his book covers or movie posters. So Moore's views are very popular amongst a percentage of people

Reply to Moderates... in Politics

I believe it could only do the American people good if each party ran a bit more to the center to match mainstream American views. I really don't think either party does itself much good by trying to go moderate. The crux of the problem really is the democratic and republican two party platform. It would be nice to see some viable third parties...

I do not feel I made a bad judgement call. Yet because I didn't vote for the left, I made a bad judgement call? It is that very behavior that is highlighted in Draginol's article In my opinion, voting for Bush was a bad call. Why? I voted for him in 2000 and now I'm one of those still kicking my own ass for not voting Gore. We probably wouldn't be in Iraq today, Sept. 11 probably would not have been addressed by liberty limiting Pat

Yes, Moore is so unpopular that he's grossed millions on his multiple films spanning over a decade, written many 5 best selling books, and has yet to be sued for libel or slander. Damn that successful Micheal Moore talking all sorts of shit I don't agree with...

You could make that argument, Daiwa. You can also argue that some things have been accepted as fact to a degree suitable for everyday life, such as the basic workings of gravity. The power of telling impressionable school children how we came in to being is a matter that should be held in check, however, at least until we have a much better idea of what the truth is.

The sticker is appropriate. It's important to remind people that science is still working out the kinks in some of it's theories. It denies scientific debate to hold up some theories as fact and not dig further for full understanding.

Let me preface this by going over the paragraph of yours that started this dialogue between us: Hey Deference, your very denial is proof that you're *in* denial. Look at the posts. Ignore the "Bush is right" rhetoric and the outcome of the replies clearly state that of those individuals who voted for Bush, one of the major issues of why they did *is* b
