Odd, I thought these were close races according to blue state folks. Pfft, go look at a map by color and tell me it is fair to compare red to blue based only on how the Presidental election went in 2004. Yet ,still (to this day), reminded that Bush was given a 'mandate'. Since this is a democracy, I'm afraid the blame rests with the majority passing legislation since 1994 for the sad stat

Hey, looks like that 'let's bring the war to the terrorists first in Iraq' plan really worked. Good job George and Tony!

A friend of mine sent in one of his usual letters to the editor. This one resonated with me to such an extreme I felt the need to re-paste it, here, right where it's needed most. Editor, With the retirement of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the ongoing conflict between the Red state Republicans and the Blue state Democrats promises to heat up. We can expect to hear about family values as

Moderateman, you may want to ask yourself why all this is happening while America is under Republican control. The most authoritarian and Federalist Government has been ushered in ounder the command of those advancing the 'security' agenda. I don't think Democrats have been foreward about stopping this particular agenda and many have gone right along with it, but they are hardly those at the head of the ch

Patriot, what does that mean? A patriot is one that loves his country and the ideals it holds high, enough to fight / die for them should it the call come. I am a Patriot. I believe in the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights; the laws and principles derived from them are all derivative construc

Kripes Kingbee. Your hostilitiy towards Amnesty is remarkable. To attack a group that has so vociferously defended human rights is despicable and exposes your blind allegience to the Bush administration. You should be ashamed. Perhaps you 've not researched the issues enough. An independent organization simply confirms the reports trickling through the media about human rights abuses and you leap to defend those who are either incompetent or ho

As Guy stated above, no rights have been lost. No rights have been lost?! You've been drinking that Texan Kool - Aide. I can give you all the facts in the world but I can never make you believe.

Not exactly lame; we still have four years to squash your dreams, and who knows? Maybe we'll manage to elect another Republican in 2008. Hillary's pretty much their strongest possiblity and front runner, and she isn't exactly popular outside her own circle, you know. Well, not my dreams. Hopefully a third party will become viable enough to take on the other two. I'm simply hoping the Dem's are able to stall the Republicans

Ohh! Goody! A moron resorting to name calling, and me on my blog! Hmmm, should I black list him? Nah! Should I delete the post? Nah! Let everyone read what a retard he is! Yeah. A real moron. I apologize for insulting you. There wasn't any "resorting" to it. It simply irks me that you can't see the obvious and it pains me to drag out the facts when I feel you should be well informed enough to understand the implications of su

Apparently I must be extremely explicit when speaking, I could have sworn both of you gentlemen were quick enough to catch the connections but now I must baby talk you both through this cognitive obstacle course. Ahem... It certainly wasn't classy of Dean to say what he did, but with Patriot Act, who cares about good old-fashioned "civil rights" and "due process" anyway? Apparently only when it's convenient to protect one's own do

It certainly wasn't classy of Dean to say what he did, but with Patriot Act, who cares about good old-fashioned "civil rights" and "due process" anyway? Apparently only when it's convenient to protect one's own do we finally stand up for constitutional "concessions". I'm guessing that if the shoe was on the other foot, Republicans would say their guy was only calling a spade a spade.

MasonM - I think you've touched on several chords that resonate with many people here at JU. The title, alone, will attract most JU bloggers to read your thread ( even if they don't respond ). Everyone wants to identify that singular problem at the root of all evil in this world in the hope of finding a serum for it. Past that, these are garden - variety thoughts every person indulges in - it's just that some fail to articulate it. <

And we should care...why? As you know, Draginol, often when our society has problems and we need solutions we ask people setting standards in their respective professional fields what their opinion is on a related matter. This is why Warren Buffet's opine on this matter carries weight. I know your question is simply an attempt to minimize the impact of his statements but just in case you d

Try again oh foolish one Funny you would say that. Anyhow, as I've mentioned Bush doesn't have a plan. All your links speak about the "Bush Plan" but, in reality, the "plan" is still in the works. You won't see the plan in writing until it is finished being written as legislation . That's one of the reasons you've heard so little actual specific details on how the plan is to be imp

Err, show me where bush has been stealing from SS,when congress has been doing it for years... - Lucas Bailey The blame stands with Congress - as I mentioned in post # 7. Terp - this is such crap. Bush has offered no plan . All he has done has heightened the "crisis" aspect of social security (which there would be none if those in congress would stop looting the program) and suggested private accounts. I would commend Bush for "energizing" "discussion" on this topic but it's such a red herring. Instead of decaring "emergency!" why doesn't he use his bully pulpit or get a congressional point man to di
