Wrong answer. Your logic is flawed. If they did have the money, would they still be non-viable No, if such parties as the Libertarian party had more money to buy access to the public forum, I would consider them "viable". At the moment, however, it is very hard for them to get out their message and seem strong enough to attract voters to their perspective on the issues. Democrats and Republicans have so much cash to bombard Americans

and Dean? The man can't keep his temper. I met Dean when he campaigned in St. Louis, MO and followed his campaign before his defeat in the primary. What evidence do you have to support the idea that he is some angry man who can't control his temper?

Anything with "Lebowski" in it wrenches away my attention from whatever project I'm on. Great piece, well done. I, of course, love the Lewbowski reference. I always thought of "The Dude" as being more synonymous with the average joe floating through his life without any particularly strong convictions, only seeking his favorite objects (rug), pastimes (bowling) and reliefs from pain ( joints and white russians ) while being pulled at by co

Since I doubt some are going to bother looking for the letter from PNAC to Pres. Clinton, I'm posting it. Cheney did not sign off on this letter because of his preference for a low profile, but many of the concepts PNAC adheres to grew out of writings and ideas Cheney trumpeted in the early 90's. January 26, 1998 The Honorable William J. Clinton President of the United States Washington, DC Dear Mr. P

What type of reforms? I remember hearing that Patriot Act had ushered in new "reforms" already for the intelligence community. Unfortunately the authors managed to slice away at certain amendments and expand federal sneak and peak powers. I get wary when hearing of *reforms in the intelligence community".

Actually, it was deputy SOD Paul Wolfowitz and SOD Donald Rumsfield along with William Buckley (of the Weekly Standard) and other neo-cons (of PNAC - project for a new american century) who lobbied Clinton to attack Iraq back in '98. They even sent him a letter on the subject. Clinton dismissed it, but a few years later..

Adding sources or even a few links would be nice, Bob....and what is the first amendment project?

We *have* some viable other parties. It's just that they don't have the money to backup their mouth. Effectively making them...non-viable. Thank you, drive-thru.

But i prefer to hang out in a place that allows me to smoke. I pretty much frequent one bar in particular, and i spend a truckload of money when i go. ( i tend to drink like a fish at times... I've heard the allowed alcohol percentage in the beer in Utah is state limited to something very low, something like 3% - is that true?

The worst scenario of voting against one’s well-being is in the military families, most of whom are on the low end of the economic scale, yet proudly offer up their sons, daughters and spouses to the god of war and in lock-step with the commander in chief, regardless of ultimate sacrifice. ...and how! Democratic critics omit the overriding fear factor and the security perception of an incumbent president — despite his gross

I'm quite certain your resident "butt-head" is quite fine, in good shape, and plotting to over-throw any conservative quite soon... Nice to see that community spirit is alive and well at JU!

Nice to see you here, Dave. You certainly seem a welcome addition to the community. Draginol has expressed concerns about deficit spending before, has demonstrated some workings of economics and is conservative, so I naturally thought of him first when I read this thread. I know of McCain (of course) and what he's done at busting the hump of pork barrel spending, but past that, I really don't know of any on the "right" that are doing much to control

You say he was pandering. How do you know for a fact he was not following his heart? "Pandering", in that he has been appealing to the conservative christian right throughout his two campaigns and presidency. I'm not saying this is a terrible thing, just that he has cultivated a bumper crop of people voting for him by positioning himself as someone who has a firm christian belief and has made abundently clear his postitions on abortion

I didn't vote for Bush, because of certain policies. In speaking with those that did, the reasons have been as follows: 1. He'll keep us safe from the terrorists (whatever) 2. He's pro-life (repeal abortion "rights" we wish) 3. Has "morals" (at least they think his priorities are the same as theirs) 4. Against gay marriage (went for a long-shot amendment

Please don't tell me that you think John Kerry is more moral than Bush I didn't think that had anything to do with it. The vote for John K. was about a change in policy regarding Iraq, home security, fiscal direction, healthcare, and alternative energy. Let's also not forget about Ashcroft pitching the Patriot Act (and yes, I know everybody signed off on it, but who introduced it?). These issues are my main concerns, but really, it w

I think the evangelicals feel they have already compromised as far as they can go. Now they can't even turn network TV at 8pm without seeing gay-oriented sit-coms, adultry, and casual sex. From their vantage point, the minority left has already imposed their will on the culture and they are now trying to get it back ..yeah, this is a problem. But re-electing Bush and an army of republican

Thank God somebody else out there is also keeping an eye out for this stuff. Please include more links and sources, and keep up the good work. Some will try to write this off as overblown or conspiracy theory, but the effect and substance is all there. Citizens are asleep and seem to be taking a casual attitude to having their civil liberties culled...

Dan, this has been addressed before: https://www.politicalmachine.com/forums.asp?MID=3&CMID=3&AID=35162#172134 With comments like "Hey T_Bone can I buy you a box of tissues?" it's easy to see why T_Bone might be considering blacklisting you, particularly when you've already worn the polish off that tired insult.

Good stuff. I can't agree with you on "Sorry Everybody" being arrogant, but the use of the courts to shape policy and culture is certainly a powerful tactic relied upon by ideological lefties to insure their way is supported. No wonder there is such hand wringing at the thought of Bush appointing new justices. In the end, however, their fears are unjustified, it will be conservative christians who will be the most disappointed regarding the appointe

Interesting... the movies depict Wolfiwitz as running everything yep, keep in mind, it was wolfowitz who petitioned Bill Clinton to attack Iraq in the nineties and is a member of PNAC. It wasn't much of a stretch for the writer to shift all the "secret plans" and conspiracies to Wolfowitz.. It's a nice breath of fresh air....
