2008

Okay, now even though i'm a Kerry supporter, there is no way he'll win Ohio. So, I've heard 2008 rumors, Clinton, JEB, McCain, obama (UNLIKELY) etc. So what is your thoughts on who you want to win.
Me-- Maybe Edwards/Clinton?

Now, with Arafat in a coma, do you think this Israel-Palestine would be a issue in 2008, and who would handle it the Best?

Just was reading TIME and it said that Edwards would be the best Dem candidate and that GOP Sen. Brownback might run.

It doesn't matter who the Dem will be, the Republicans will win no matter what. My money's on Bush, eith a 3rd term for W. or Jeb.

The last two Dems that were the President?
Clinton-Arkansas
Cater-Georgia
Before that?
LBJ-Texas
That is why Edwards has the best chance, and having Hillary as VP would have him in the North and Mid-West.

Only half of which is possible! GW CANNOT legally run for a 3rd term. He's only allowed 2 terms by law.

Well, Congress might remove that law, beacuse there is enough Republicans now to pass it. Did you read My Post about it? You should.

Here:
quote]Possible Constitutional amendments

There has been some discussion recently of amending the Constitution to remove the absolute requirement that only natural-born citizens may become President. If such a change occurred in time for the 2008 elections, possible candidates who are naturalized citizens would include Democratic Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, born in Canada, Democratic former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, born in Czechoslovakia, and Republican California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, born in Austria.

The possible repeal or amendment of Amendment XXII has also come under some discussion. One proposal would allow a President to serve only two consecutive terms but seek to return after a respite. The only living former president who has served two terms is Bill Clinton. If George W. Bush won re-election in 2004, and sentiments across party lines looked favorably on a contest between him and Bill Clinton in 2008, a change to this term limit might find support.

I like this idea. It would also mean GW couldn't run until- 2012. By the way GW Had most of the people from his dad's cabanet, would Jeb do the same with his brother's?

Also, I just read that there have been many attempts to change it. and many presidnets leave unhappy at the end of their 2nd term.

Yes I read it. And how long do you think they've talked about it? At the *moment* it is only a disscussion. It hasn't made it yet and may not make it at all.

Here's a link to Bill Clinton's Idea

Former President Bill Clinton's call to change the 22nd Amendment to allow presidents to run again doesn't have many fans on Capitol Hill — even from those who agree with him in principle.
"I'm totally opposed to the way he wants to change it. If he wants to repeal it, I'd be right with him," said House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, Texas Republican. "He wants to change it so he can run."
At the time he wanted to change it the *democrats* controlled the senate. Why wasn't it done then?

This guy will never get impeached. A certain group of people seem to love him. Just look at the facts. He appeared to be a puppet and an idiot and he won in 2000 (well sort of). Then we learn that he is not a puppet but rather a person who prays and receives policy advice from God. He spends 4 years screwing up everything he touches and still gets a majority of the re-election vote. What could he possibly do that this group of supporters would agree to an impeachment? The answer is nothing.

any other bitching that you need to get out of your system? Get a grip.

What if Bush does something else, something really bad like another war. Would Bush be impeached; or then the Rebs. have no shot in 2008?

What if elephants rampage around the earth, eating everything in sight? Then they might grow wings and fly away into outer space to live on Pluto.

i doubt anyone from the Bush family will be running in 08 (im a Bush supporter). Im hoping Giuliani/Pataki... what a great duo.

A moderate democrat loses to an energized conservative base every time. Kerry v. Bush is a great example

Are you seriously fowarding the notion that Kerry is a moderate Democrat? GWB is more of a moderate democrat than Kerry!!!

I'm holding out hope that it will be McCain.

Even though I'm a Dem. I would like to see McCain/Giuliani vs. Edwards/ Hillary. However, in 2006 New York Senate Race. Rep. Primaries: Giuliani/Pataki. Winner faces Hillary. That's two great matchups!

The problem with that is then the ticket isn't blanced regionaly wise.
Let's say another 9/11 happened in 2008, who would have the best stance on it. I think Giuliani would.
I don't think Edwards will be very strong in '08. In the debates, he was attacked due to lack of experience, and now he doesn't even have his senate seat any more. I think the odds are better for someone like Richardson

I love Bill Clinton, but retracting the 22nd amendment would mean Bushy would also be eligible, something I do not want. I think that if they went head to head 16 years in a row, Clinton would defeat Bushy easily. But anyways how about....

MICHAEL MOORE for PRESIDENT in 2008.
