2008

2008

Okay, now even though i'm a Kerry supporter, there is no way he'll win Ohio. So, I've heard 2008 rumors, Clinton, JEB, McCain, obama (UNLIKELY) etc. So what is your thoughts on who you want to win.
Me-- Maybe Edwards/Clinton?

Even if there is no good Dem Candidates; don't you think Hillary or Edwards would have more South Support and change it from so Republican to more Demorcatic?

Uh...no. I don't think so, they are very conservative in the south and only a true moderate Democrat would swing votes his/her way... ala Lieberman, somebody I know who is a staunch conservative Republican (my Dad) said Gephardt would be a good candidate.

Speculation Plinko!!

Wrong, Grim. A moderate democrat loses to an energized conservative base every time. Kerry v. Bush is a great example. Had Howard Dean been the candidate, he would have succeeded in drawing out the left and not dealt with his weak moderatism versus Bush's strong conservativism. Republicans often suggest moderate candidates such as Lieberman because they know liberal lefties aren't interested in them and neither are conservatives.

...and if Dems whip out Hillary Clinton in 2008, I am going to be totally pissed, especially if Republicans run Giuliani (sp?) against her...gee, can we get another set of bad choices? Grim, put those libertarians in gear!

Kerry was not a moderate, Lieberman is a moderate.
What the heck, even I know Kerry was not a moderate!!

A Moderate Democrat like Lieberman would have pulled votes from the Liberal and Moderate Republicans and Independents this election because each Liberal / Moderate Republican and Independent I have talked to said they would have voted Lieberman in a heartbeat and Gephardt is one that even Conservative Republicans say would have been a very tough challenge.

As for us, Libertarians, so far it looks like Badnarik may run again but it is a uphill battle to get recognized nationally as a good choice for people, due to the fact we don't get the free media coverage even though we got more votes than Cobb and Peroutka combined!!

Plinko!!

How can everyone be forgetting Tom Vilsack from Iowa. Being an Iowan I pray to God this doesnt happen but hes a governer from a swing state that has been big in the elections the past two years (despite not mattering at all either time ), not to mention the Iowa Caucus will give him an early lead.

When a democrat has such a hard time distinguishing his proposed policies from that of a "conservative" Republican, I'd say he's moderate. He's also moderate compared to Howard Dean, or Kucinich. LIeberman wouldn't pull zip for votes from Republicans 'cause they're too busy voting Republican. How many "liberal" Republicans have you met, recently, anyway? Why would they vote for Lieberman who can't even make it to the primaries with less than 1% interest by any poll?

Congratulations on the Badnarik success.

'Kay I hate to sound like a bitch, but there is no way in hell that Hilary or Condoleeza or any other woman will win. It's kinda like Obama won't win because he's a minority. Hilary may win the nomination, but guys don't want a woman running the country.

I'm a strong Republican, but if John Kerry wins the nomination I will probably vote for him. After graciously conceeding to Bush I gained a lot of respect for him.

*grins wickedly*

Hooah!

Are you a racist?

I supported Lieberman but, I have to agree with you too. I don't think after the primaries he could win.

How can everyone be forgetting Tom Vilsack from Iowa

Sorry, I did totally forget about him. But he'd be best as a VP. Although Gephardt would challange Vilsack for the Mid-West vote in the Primaries.

I don't believe this person is a racist. I believe that they are making a judgement about the U.S. Try not to think about how you see our country or how you would like our country to be. Think about the way this country really is, a little of which we learned on Tuesday. And even I, as a progressive see that we have a lot of reframing to do before we elect a female or minority. Sad but true.

Yeah he probably would be a better VP (hey maybe we could get a republican governor back to Iowa if he tries and fails at going for VP :hopes and prays:) and Gepharts already tried and failed (misserbly) in Iowa I dont see that changing and as the caucus showed us (although I never quite was able to figure out why concidering how pidly Iowas is in the sceme of things) if your a midwestern guy and dont win/do good in Iowa you wont get the nomination or even try that much longer

Yes, and how long? We had a women VP running in 1984, on election night as the results came in, I saw that so many women were running for the Senate, House, and for Govener. Same for Blacks. Hispinics got Martinez in Fl. and have Richardson (a person who could run in 2008.) So with all that how can a minority be elected soon?

I think it's sad, but true, but the United States likes it's WASP male presidents.  I know it's stereotypical, but it is true, but the "solid south" will not cast their electoral votes for a minority president, and it's even odds on whether they would cast them for a woman.  The midwest may be more likely to, but only if the minority is a Republican.  Both parties recognize that they can win with a WASP man, but past history has indicated, by which I mean the election of a catholic, that the first party who attempts it, fails.

Anyway, I'm all for a minority or female president.

Cheers

Yeah, the Dems ran NY Govener Al Smith (a catholic) in 1928; he got blowen away by Hoover; but it allowed FDR the get the Govenership. Then the Dems. picked JFK and he won. RFK would have won too, and Ted Kennedy almost beat Cater in 1980. But, withen 20 years will have a women, black, jew, or other minority President or even a VP would be nice.

What if Bush does something else, something really bad like another war. Would Bush be impeached; or then the Rebs. have no shot in 2008?

Oprah FOR PRESDINT. She will give everyone Ipods and SuV's
Plus it will solve over population.
Half the population will have a heart attack. The first black and woman president!!!

What type of SUV? Hahaha and Aaaaaaaaarnold will run against her with Bunning. And George Clooney's dad will be VP even though he lost yesterday!

I heard on CNN in an interview with Gephardt, that his days in Congress are nearly over. I guess he's not running again. Maybe he's retiring.

I think McCain and Jeb Bush can be very strong for the Republican 2008. If Powell wants to, I think he has a great chance too, but I don't think he wants to.

Among Democrat, people talked about Hillary and I do think she has the ambition, but I don't think she can make it. Forget about how many repubicans loath her. A senator from northeast? No. We haven't had a president from northeast for a long time, not to mention a senator.

I think Bob Kerrey has a better chance.

A war would not get him impeached. He can't order anyone into combat without senate approval. Which he wouldn't get.

This guy will never get impeached. A certain group of people seem to love him. Just look at the facts. He appeared to be a puppet and an idiot and he won in 2000 (well sort of). Then we learn that he is not a puppet but rather a person who prays and receives policy advice from God. He spends 4 years screwing up everything he touches and still gets a majority of the re-election vote. What could he possibly do that this group of supporters would agree to an impeachment? The answer is nothing.

Yes, He left the House

This guy will never get impeached

What if he shoots someone? Like A Senator, or someone like that?

I think Bob Kerrey has a better chance.

He's not going to run. My aunt works for him at NuSchool in New york.
