In addition(sorry tried to edit too late ) I'm in favor of the voluntary round, since i was one that wasn't going to commit a definate. With it being Vol. I still have an option if I do get time later in the round.

Hmmmm not sure i like this idea. Will the bonus round points be stand alone or count for the next season?

Does no one read what I write? They will count toward next season; unless we decide to the Bonus Round before the Draft, in which case they will be put toward THIS season's total.

ok, let's break this down:

Due to no shows, drop outs, and people wanting to take a break- we will be severely handicapped going into Round 9 if we were to do that immediately following this round; ya know, like we normally do.

Sooo...we talked about taking a short break, which I'm all for. BUT, I'm concerned that a complete break may actually hurt the MVL more, SO I have set up a "Bonus Round" that is completely VOLUNTARY where players can earn bonus points to add to their SEASONAL total. The only thing that isn't set in stone is if those points will be applied to Season Two or Season Three.

With the teams being re-shuffled by the draft, I would think it may make sense for the bonus points to count for next season, not the current? IMHO..

I vote for the "bonus round" to be before the draft. The draft can signal a new beginning and why waste that rejuvenated start to a new season with a bonus round.

My two cents.

I like the idea of the bonus round and I like the idea of the bonus counting towards the next season. I also think it makes sense to have the draft after the bonus round. This will allow a player's bonus round points to be taken in consideration for the draft which allows players a way to distinguish themselves a bit prior to the draft.

I also like the normal month timeframe since it keeps the schedule more regular. This way the newer members that might not be as burnt out as some of us that have played all 8 rounds can go forward on a regular schedule and those of us that may be feeling a little burnt out can take a break without feeling that they're letting their team down. I think this is a win-win situation.

Mumblefratz, personally I think that's as close to a perfect solution as we're going to get. Well thought out.  :CONGRAT:

yes, ideally I'd agree with you. However, with so many people notifying me that they are taking a break; we can not proceed normally into a round. And I really don't want to take a completely inactive break because inactivity would probably spell doom for the MVL. Thus using Defcon's suggestion, I have come up with what I think is very agreeable solution that doesn't hurt the MVL at all, and in fact most likely benefits it.

As for why not applying it to this season- if we were to apply points to THIS season, the Bladerunners, Crusaders, and Domination of Death would be at a SEVERE handicap as its from their teams that will be the most shorthanded. By applying the bonus points to NEXT season, the bonus points could end up going anywhere (ie let's say Piznit earns 2 BPs, currently he's on the A-Team but he could just as easily end up on the DominationDeath next season) It would make Piznit an attractive choice (ooh he's so sexy in his optometrist outfit :p ) to the captains when choosing a player. Make sense?

So Season Two ends on April 30th. Bonus Round occurs (May 3rd-May 31st)-"technically" its not within a season but the bonus points earned will be placed toward Season Three. It is a voluntary round. Draft takes place after the Bonus Round because that way captains can also look at those players that played in the Bonus Round (and the points they've earned) as an investment to their team. Season Three/Round Nine then follows (Saturday, June 1st). And then Season 10, which takes place in July, will be the First Anniversary Round. Joy.

I was not in favor of a bonus round until reading your latest post Silver, but the way you have explained it, makes it much more interesting than I had assumed. So I agree with the proposal. Sorry Neilo, he's too persuasive.

I've been reading all the comments about the bonus round, etc. Whatever you guys want to do is fine with me. Seems to me there has been a definite drop in interest during the last round. Considering ToA is going to be released (29 Apr 2009 I believe), how do you feel this might affect things? Personally, I'm looking forward to playing a ToA metaverse game.

I'm very much in favor of a bonus round. I've been pretty burned out recently, and with finals coming up, I wasn't sure whether or not I should participate next round. But if it's optional, then the option's still there.

Now to just finish up a game for this round (wish I coulda done it sooner, but my computer got infected over a week ago, and I just managed to fix it today, it was a tenacious little bugger).

Sorry but I've been negligent about updating the current round submissions. For some reason it's been a tough month. Catching a Trojan on my PC didn't help but that's not enough to explain it all. Chaulk it up to ennui, I suppose. Looking forward to a short break.

Anyway I went through the thread for current submissions and so far I only count 12 so it seems there are a lot of folks in the same boat. I personally expect to submit in time but I don't expect to have much margin to spare. Hopefully everyone will submit in time. Good Luck all.
