After the success on the Troll Thumping Day Suite some members of the Mother Thumpers are coming together to create the "Happy Birthday Suit(e)".

I envision this suite centered around a DX gadget that counts down to your birthday. On your birthday the gadget will prompt you to download the most recent incarnation of the suite components so for your special day, your desktop will celebrate with you.

At this point we have some components assigned to artists but this is a collaborative project and welcome input and assistance from everyone. Please jump in and help out if you'd like.

I disagree . . th whole concept (for me) was that you might run a gadget at the start of the birthday month (or whenever) amd on your birthday it would remind you that you needed to download teh suite components (the very latest!). You run it for a day, post a screenshot to the gallery . . and teh next day you go back to your regular desktop.



So now you have me wondering. What happens if someone here has a desktop that they share with the whole family. If they have already installed the suite for one persons birthday will the dx gadget then be able to be set for multiple dates and apply the already downloaded suite on those days?

I like.
What happens if someone here has a desktop that they share with the whole family.
They should create seperate user accounts.  :)  Multiple birthdays is outside the scope of this project.  Assume one PC, one user, one birthday.

How about "Start" written in icicng?  Or in those candy letters?

This is all a mock up. Let me know if I am close and what I need to tweak or change.


I can make the balloons more 'glossy'. Is the cake what you had in mind?

*thought--- a widget that drops confetti and streamers? Or maybe a screensaver? Like the ones that snow, just change it to confetti.

What about semi-deflated balloons for inactive apps?

I like the screensaver and DX idea too.  I don't know any of the screensaver maker though (at least I don't think so).

Actually 'semi-deflated' or just smaller? I think deflated would look bad.

*OR maybe..party hats for the inactive? I'm at work so I will have to mess with it at home tonight.

When the birthday time is arrived ( time left is 00:00:00) ..... then some balloons blast with some animated candles

I like.

sAARGe, can you collect all teh DX requierments (wishlist) and post them together.  It might help us set some functional limits and avoid "scope creep"

Gladly help out on the DX Coding.

FYI Bilbo and I have been working on a translating method/function for one of his weather widgets. Once things are ironed out I think this could easily be moved to date/time and other widgets. Just deciding whether to use config files with a *.lang extension or to do it internally?
