my internet is down til friday (my roomie didn't pay the cable bill this month). is there a way to save an MV score and submit it from another computer? or can i take a screen shot?

As long as the other computer has GalCiv2 installed on it then it should be no problem. To submit to the metaverse you have to log in to your account, doesn't matter what machine. You just need to load a .sav file. You can use the EndGame.sav that the game generates or an earlier save game if you wish.

Also if there's any problem posting the game to the MV we have accepted screen shots in the past, there's no reason to not accept them in the future as well.

Welcome Silver, glad that you have joined the league. As for enough players for another team. I think keeping the 5 per team for another round might be the best idea.

Logic dictates, since the Celestial Crusaders have only 4 active players that silver joins them. And so shall it be.

If Darth and/or Cornhusker Mac or we get another player then we can think about what to do. I think 5 in a team is enough, beyond that we should make new teams.

I will check back in when i have more time.

If we're going to do more of the one-strategy-per-team-member rounds like the current round, then we might want to make teams max out at 4 players. So, five teams of four instead of four teams of five. Just a thought.

Welcome to the team Silver. Grab some beers sit back, relax and have fun. I'm not the Captain, but I'm pretty sure that would be an order

Of course! There are still 20 days out of 30 left in Round 3.

Now I believe there is little choice but to make another team. Dystopic and Noctalicus are still waiting to be assigned to a team, correct?

Unless we want to start a waiting list for participation another team is needed.

OR

We could have all 5 players' submissions count as well as apply for bonus points and have the 6th player act as the 5th player now.

Both suggestions eliminate a waiting list as a factor.

If we create another team we will have 3 teams of 4 and 2 teams of 5.
If anyone in the 3 four player teams encounters a problem and can't submit for whatever reason, then that four man team is at a serious disadvantage.

Thoughts?

I don't know if starting a new team mid-round is necc. a good idea, but thats just my opinion. Adding to a member to a team is a relatively easy thing to do, but having a team organize, set goals, etc etc, could put them at a disadvantage to the established teams who have already had time to discuss strategies and goals. I think teams should only be formed at the start of a new round.

If I mistook your meaning or intentions, I am sorry.

Oops! Sorry. Forgot to take that into account. So there is only one suggestion left. Which means creating full 5 mean teams and the 6th player acting as the 5th player does now.

It does eliminate the need to keep players waiting for the moment but in the long term its pretty much amounts to no more then a larger team. But then again there is no other option left.

But then again there is no other option left.

Not true. See my response in the MV Topic of discussion thread. We have precedent that dictates what it is we should do in this case and that precedent is that people have always been allowed to start in the middle of a round. The other precedent is that rule changes are not allowed in the middle of a round.

Absolutely we cannot change up teams in the middle of a round. However the only thing unique is that we have no more teams that don't already have a 5th player. The solution is simple and obvious and requires no change to any established rules. Any 6th player is treated as a 2nd "5th" player.

Scoring stays the same which is that for team bonuses all scores are averaged and for base score only the top 4 count. This is no different with 6 players than it is with 5. It also keeps the precedent of allowing people to join in the middle of the round.

Basically this is the only solution that abides by our current rules and precedent. Certainly if we wish to define a rule as to how this will be treated in the future we can do so between rounds but for the moment this is the only logical way to proceed.

I think mumble is on the ball. Sounds fine to me.

I have made a post in the round 3 thread guys and assigned Noctilucus and Dystopic to teams and edited the op to reflect this. Of course i am jumping the gun a little with Noctilucus as he hadn't confirmed that he is actually in, but given my time restraints i placed him anyway. If he joins then away we go, if decides not to join then a quick deletion and no harm done.

Great. Dystopic has already posted a game and seems quite ready to jump right in. Assigning Noctilucus a team even if it isn't totally confirmed is the safest thing to do. So I think we're all set to go.

As far as scoring I think we have enough rules in place that the application of a little common sense and precedent will dictate how the scoring will go without the need for a whole lot of discussion. Certainly once the round is over we will need to re-organize and we can also discuss how this went and decide if we need to specify any new or different rules or whether everything seemed to be handled properly. In the meantime I think everyone can merely concentrate on their game.

I'll be back in for Round 4. I've PM'd both Neilo and Firebender about this already.

Looking forward to it . . .

Well that would sound like a welcome to the leaque.

welcome doombringer! i'm also pretty new, but i'm already finding this is a great way to enjoy GC2 in a new way.

on the idea that you can't participate until the next round, i'd say you still have time for this round - the submission deadline is OCT 17, so if you think you can crank out a game before then, i'd say give it a go!

and since Cornhusker is out this round and we'll probably be forming a new team next round, it might be logical for you to step into the place he's leaving; Mumblefratz, however, can probably speak with more experience about the conventions and precidents established so far in this regard.

in either case, welcome to the league!

Certainly taking Cornhuskers place is a reasonable suggestion however Cornhusker wasn't expected for this round and therefore wasn't listed on the Team A roster. Since Team A (and B) already have 6 players (without Cornhusker) this probably isn't the best choice.

As far as speaking towards conventions and precedents, I guess I certainly have made my presence felt in the league although I technically have no official capacity to do so. Early on I had basically taken myself out of the running on the basis that if I can't lead by example or if the benefit of my suggestions are not seen as universally useful then merely having a fancy title does not lend more importance to my pronouncements.

In any case it's Neilo's perogative to assign people to teams and I'd prefer not to step in on this unless absolutely necessary. Certainly I would give Neilo a day or two to show up and make an assignment. However, if push comes to shove I can manage to discern the pattern in Neilo's most recent assignments. His 1st 6th man was assigned to Team A and his second to Team B. If he doesn't show up in a day or two I would presume to assign the next player to Team C.

Also if TheDoomBringer wishes to participate in this round and wishes to begin a game in anticipation of joining the league then my suggestion would be to start working on a military victory with the assigned settings. With the averaging of all games submitted for determination of team bonuses a team could always use another military victory, at least that's my opinion.

As you've all noticed, I'm getting in again for round 4, not for this round. Sorry if my name caused some confusion, since I was in it for round 1. However, I can't start until next round. Whatever scoring people want to do works with me, as I'll just be happy to be back in the tournament again!

Good luck to all!

No problem, thanks for letting us know the situation, there will definitely be a spot reserved for you in the next and following rounds.

Well, I gave Neilo two days to respond to this and he hasn't so I will assign TheDoomBringer to Team C just in case he wishes to submit a game for this round.

Both TheDoomBringer and Noctilucus haven't made any further post about their requests to join the League and so they haven't made any commitment to submit a game for this round. In both of these cases I feel that it doesn't hurt the League one way or the other so they're free to submit for this month or not as they choose.

Clearly we will need to reorganize for next round anyway so these assignments are temporary. In any case if TheDoomBringer (team C) and Noctilucus (team B) are going to submit a game for this month then they should check-in with their respective teams.

Hey, Drengin accepted my invitation! Welcome!

If you wanna play in this round then only a spot in Team D is open. We'll be making Team E in Round 4.
