"The Metaverse League" Player sign up & Roster

I'm not one of the best, but what the hell. I'll play with my character Darth_Silhouette. One thing I'm wondering though is, do we have time limits to post our scores? And if so, how long are they?

To be honest, the league as it stands now doesn't have much in common with how I envisioned it, but that's OK... I'll sign up and see how it goes.

I'll use Incitatus for my league character, I guess.

I'll be using Toshiro Mifune for league play. I'd also like to make the caveat emptor that it probably would be a mistake to assume that I will be anything other than an average player for this style of game.

Seriously, though, Mumble; once you start playing lighter and faster, you may never want to go back to those gigantic slugfests.

Edit: Neilo, I just noticed that this thread is listed in the GalCivII forum area rather than the Metaverse area - was that intentional?

Also, just curious - once teams are formed, will it be up to the players to come up with team names? That would be a nice bonus for the first set of players who join.

Certainly not. I posted all these from within the Metaverse section, don't know what happened. Kryo, if your reading could you please move this thread and any other's pertaining to the league not in Metaverse into Metaverse please.

As to the teams, yes it will be up to the original team members to provide a name for themselves....

I guess i better put my character in too so everyone knows who it is...

The Aptly named The Commissioner will be my League player.

Also i'd like to encourage everyone that, where possible please use the Metaverse League banner, any time we can promote the league we will be garnishing more interest and gaining more players to the League. You would be surprised what a nice flashy banner will do to people.

Actually, it's by no means false modesty. I can generate a decent score however the time to do so is horrendous. I can get reasonably high in the "official" metaverse due to the vagrancies of the scoring method used. In the AltMeta the length of time between my games results in shooting up in the ranks immediately after posting a game only to have the rank slowly but certainly decline in the months it takes me to submit the next game.

The truly great in this game (Magnumaniac, Purge, Syrrus K to name a few) can put out huge scores on an almost weekly basis (real life permitting). I have no real chance of competing at that level, but I’m fine with where I fit into the grand scheme of things. The whole idea pretty much behind the AltMeta was to recognize that not everyone can be number one but that there still can be honor striving to better your game regardless of where you’re currently “ranked”.

I'm in and I'll be using my character "Bastard".

It's just too much of a hassle to make a new character for this. I tried, and it asked me for my serial number, which is god only knows where.

CornhuskerMac, not that there's anything wrong with using an existing character (I am, too)... but if you start GalCivII from the shortcut and click the "Update Serial" button, it will show you your current serial number. You can even copy it and paste it into a text file for your records.

Certainly depends on how many folks sign up, but previously I think we had about 16 folks express interest and the number that Neilo has mentioned the most is 4 per team so that's probably as good a guess as any.

I will be usingMetaLeaguer. Fresh out of the incubation chamber.   

I think 4 per team fits well. Allows us to do the 4 different victory conditions for the 4 different players challenge too.

I will be using PIKE THE PERSECUTOR. My somewhat neutral character.
