haha yea, thought about that. but i live in southern CA, so it rarely goes below 50F here in the winter, and it is next to a big window already. i think half the problem is the fan (sounds like a bearing died) and the other half is definately the PSU. dell only put a 275 watt PSU in this thing, and the form factor is totally proprietary. i refuse to just replace it this will just start happening again soon with only 275 watts.

and i mean, it's a Dell--is it really worth putting more money into?

i'll still probably be haunting the forums; i can use it for an hour or two before i goes out, and i have unrestricted net access at work. i'm already browsing parts on newegg to build my own, so i might be up and running again (with all sorts of new power under the hood) before round 5 gets going anyway.

I can sympathize with you here mate. I had really bad PSU and cooling issue sometime ago. I was playing C&C Zero Hour alot, 7 opponents, hardest level, and once you were into the game a bit the heat from the GPU and the power it was drawing were killing my PSU.

Some air conditioning ducting and a exhaust fan (out of a bathroom fixture that i disasembled) stalled the lock up's and crashes untill i could by a thermaltake case and a bigger PSU.

Hope you get it sorted mate, and no, the Dell is not worth putting money into. Newegg is your friend!

Is this still the right place to sign up for league play?

I created a meta character tonight - Peril - in hopes of getting in on the next round. I will sign up for the league empire if selected to play.

Hi mate, good to hear from you. Your in mate, we are just finishing round 4 today actually so round 5 will start, quite possibly tomorrow. We do sometimes leave it a few days between rounds but things are rolling along nicely and we might just jump into another round.

In any event i will place you into one of the teams very soon. For the next round mate, look for the Metaverse League Round 5 thread, i will have it posted i the next few days..maybe sooner.

We have a heap of threads about the league but the best ones to check out are,

MVL Rule Book thread has the latest rules in the OP and is where any rule changes are discussed.

Metaverse League Round 4 thread is the main point of discussion for the current round (ends in half hour or so), so this is as good as any place to drop in and have a chat with any of the players. This thread lists the current teams in the OP too.

Also we have a discussion ongoing about the MVL's incluion into the AltMeta. It is quite a long read but if you would like to get in on the process check it out, The MVL and the AltMeta.

Glad to have you with us mate, and there is no requirement to join the MVL Empire, though you may choose to of course.

Thanks for the Tyranny invite - I've seen your thread, you guys are hilarious. The one thing I seriously dislike about playing evil is that once you build the mind control center, you stop being able to flip planets - and I like being able to grab planets that way, esp. the extreme worlds that my "friends" have settled in my backyard. That said, I'm open to anything, just waiting a while for now.

He uses Iconians as slaves, not good for anything. His 20 slaves are as good as any one of my Alterian slaves. Iconians breath smells funny.

Are there still room for another player? I'm somewhat new to GalCiv II, but I consitently win on Challenging (still haven't tried to ramp up) and feel confident enough to attempt and succeed in any victory condition so far.

I have a few questions though.
Are game submissions only done through forum messages?
Am I allowed, or even required, to post the game result on the metaverse?
Where can I find the conditions for the next game consistently without scrolling through a 5 page forum topic? Are they sent per PM to participating players?

We're incorporating the MVL into the Altmeta to form the "AltMeta League". Pretty soon, it'll all be your doing, your captain's and automation. Whichever you prefer.



While not in the AltMeta you can submit screenshots of your game's important information like score, time, etc. But afterwards, I'm afraid its essential.



There is a new thread for each round and the Round's settings and other information is listed in the OP of that thread. No, they're not sent by PM though.

Just tell us the character you'll be using and you'll be randomly assigned to a team. Btw, good to have you on board.

Ok, so let me get this straight: I look in the OP of Round 4 to see what sort of game I am to play, take some screenshots when I win and post it?

My character is named Dalaule. And I was ninja'ed by the Kzinti. But I'm happy to play on whichever team. My favorite race so far is the Altarians, and their goody goody attitude doesn't go too well with the Kzinti I'm afraid...

Since round 4 just ended there will be a thread created for round five that will have the settings. It starts wedneday(US) I believe.

You just start the game as a metaverse game using the round settings and post it as normal when through. Then you just go to the round five thread and either give a screenie of your submission from the character's page or some key details of the game like. years,score,raceused,and submission time. You can also look in the round four thread and see what details people used and how they submitted their game to the league. It's a pretty simple process once you get it down.

It is a simple process the league and the other guys have already said it, but all you need do is look for Metaverse League Round 5 thread. In it's OP will be the current teams, and that rounds challenge. Then once your game is submited to the mv, you post in the Round 5 thread your character name and game detials. Any info that will point us to the correct game in your profile.

That is it. Our inclusion in the AltMeta, one day, will automate alot of that, but that is some time off.

I too have been a Challenging level player, but these last few MVL rounds have got me to Tough, consistently, with some foray's into Painful.

To Velkyn and Galen, first off thanks for showing interest in the MVL, I hope you both turn out getting as much enjoyment out of playing that I and others do.
