I was unavailable over the weekend, but was looking forward to the round 4 criteria when I got back today. Let's do this draft thing so we can get started

yeah, no place to go but forward.

I concur. Keep moving forward.

I am here for round 4, willing to fight for any team and any price(free?).

There seems to be many rumours of many players leaving the league.

I should clarify what I said in the other thread - I am definitely on board for round 4, and I think the draft proposal above sounds like a good way to get things back on track.

My issues are really time and perspective. Time, because I'm taking on a new job and because I came home after seven days without a computer to realize I've been spending way too much time in front of the screen.

I spent a week in the U.S.'s little piece of the developing world south of New Orleans, talking and working with people who literally have nothing, but they'll give you a gap-toothed smile, pass you a sammich (sandwich), and talk about their hopes for the future.

Then I came back here to find a bunch of ridiculous pissing and moaning both among MVL players and about the decreased planet count in the update. It was like culture shock. I'm not picking up my ball and going home or anything, but it's all kind of discouraging.

It is my hope that at the very least everyone can give the league another chance and you will see that this round will make all the difference. You too Mumble, i hope you come back for round 4.

I took the weekend off per Silver's most reasonable suggestion and I will be in for round 4 and following rounds.

I do want to say a thing or two. I agree with the complaints about having things spread over 3 or 4 and soon to be 5 threads. I also think that the point of rules is to reduce argument and not cause more argument. The pain we have had regards to rules is definitely due to them being discussed in many different places and this causes
problems when everyone may not have participated in every discussion and also may not realize which discussions occured after another and hence which information is the latest information.

In any case it was per Neilo's authorization that I opened up the MVL Rulebook thread and I will therefore continue with that thread updating the OP with the latest and most current info. For those that are dismayed at yet another thread for discussion of MVL topics I'm sorry, but I really don't see another way to do this. The goal is for this to end up being simpler than what we've previously had.

Certainly the best results will be obtained when everyone contributes their opinion, however this isn't a perfect world and therefore perfect participation of even agreement is impossible. However regardless of whether or not everyone decides to participate we *will* define the rules in a single place and that place *will* be the MVL Rulebook thread that I previously opened.

I'm super glad to have you still as a fellow Leaguer

Awesome mate. Having 1 thread with all the rules will eliminate (nearly) most of the miscommunication that we had in round 3. It will work.

Along with this i am in the middle of creating a MVL Round 4 Draft and Discussion thread, where we can move all discussions to. That way we need not have to check 2, 3 or maybe even 4 threads to follow the current topic.

So for round 4 there will be 3 threads to keep bookmarked. The rule book thread, the round 4 topic of discussion thread and the round 4 game and submittion thread.

Please remember guys, if we can limit posting in the game thread to just game submittions and leave all discussion to the round 4 discussion thread it will make life easier.

Lets get on with this draft shall we, the thread will be up soon.

The Commish.

three cheers for mumble!

i know one of the complaints is about all the impertinent chatter in the myriad league threads... is there a 'league cocktail lounge' or something like there, where to we could shunt our irreverance? (i know, not another league thread; just thought i'd pitch the idea for feedback).

I think the thread you are talking about is in the Core; take this link to the League area, then scroll down to the pinned thread called "The League Club", specifically for your trash-talking needs.

The formal tally sheet for Round 4 of the Metaverse League

Updated OP.

Bluntblade, 1) non-conquest games are hard to get high points anyhow; and technically, I got the lowest scored game though it didn't count and it was a Defeat lol. 2nd) you may have had the lowest correct victory score BUT if you hadn't won your game Team A would have actually came in last place, so take heart, this is why those Base scores actually DO mean something. And most importantly, did you learn something and did you have fun?

there ya go then, something DEFINITELY to be proud of :CONGRAT:

Silverbeacher, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say thanks for making and posting that formal tally sheet. :CONGRAT:

Thank you, but let it be known that it was the combined effort of myself, Neilo, FireBender, and Mumblefratz that made sure we got it done quickly and got it done correctly.

Yes indeed excellent work. Also I don't think I actually had much to do with it although I was pleased that every condition that came up during this round was covered in the Rules thread.

I do want to ask a few questions about your spreadsheet format. It's not totally clear particularly in regards to the team bonus points. I bring this up for two reasons one is of course just so everyone understands which team received which bonuses. The second and perhaps more important reason is that we may as well take this kind of a format as the basis for our results display in the AltMeta. Of course we would color it up some and try to add team banners and such but the base column format would probably be something quite similar to this.

It seems like the team submission bonus appears under the total points column in the Sum Total row. In contrast the Team Score bonuses and Team speed bonuses appear in the BP's awarded row under the score and speed column. It appears to me that there is no real need to take up space with the SUBTOTAL 1 and SUBTOTAL 2 text and then the team submission bonus should simply go in the same BP's Awarded row under the Submission order column. The heading of the BP's Awarded row should more accurately be changed to Team BP's Awarded.

One other request would be to come up with some other indication of an incorrect win other than calling it a loss. Clearly it's not a win of the correct type but any win is still not a loss. It would need some kind of short abbreviation that makes some kind of sense in context. Perhaps calling it a DRAW or TIE. That would make sense for the one point as it's done in hockey. Then the WIN/LOSS header could be called OUTCOME.

I know this is kind of picky detail but it's just a suggestion.

and they are very good ones. I had put this particular spreadsheet together at 3am AFTER already being up til 5am the previous morning trying my darndest to complete my games.

The basic format of the sheet will be used again but I plan on it being easier to read and understand the next time.

The number that is located in Column: Submission Time and Row: Sum Total is the average submission total (placement/games) The number to the right of that under the Total Points column is any Team Submission Points earned.

Along the bottom in the BPs Awarded Row, under the Columns of BP Score and BP Game Time are any applicable Team Bonus Points.

Trust me, I know this is not the necessarily the best layout and I do plan on tweaking it slightly for future usage. Also I plan on making the lettering larger so that it is easier to read.

And finally, if it hadn't been for you I would have missed the point about non-correct games not being averaged into calculating team bonus points.
