Hi Folks - this is Colleen, Elie's other half.  I wanted to let those of you that know Elie, know that he is in the hospital in serious condition.  He has some sort of viral infection that has impacted all of his systems, including his brain.  I took him in Friday morning and he has been in the ICU since then.

For those of you that know and care for Elie, I ask for your prayers or other kind thoughts into the universe for his recovery.

I will try to post something again soon.  I apologize for the "public" forum, but the truth is, I don't really know how to use the blog, so this is the best I could do.

Thanks in advance for your positive thoughts for Elie.

I'm so glad that he's improving. I was afraid that I was going to have to abduct Dr. House and put him on the case at gunpoint. First I have to get a dang gun. I am a pacifist though, maybe I'd just use a taser.

Hi all this is Michele, Elie has woken up, as of MOnday. Colleen has been frazzled to say the least so I figured I would up date for you all. He was taken off the vent. He is awake, was disoriented on Monday. Yesterday he was a little more alert, still a bit confused and can't quite believe he has been in for this long. He is also getting snippy, so he is DEFINITELY back. HE gets snipppy when confined for a while. Now its just waiting to see if there is any lasting effects of his prolonged unconciousness. Still keep the prayers up. Say a few for Colleen too, please\\

when i saw this thread had suddenly become very active again i really had to force myself to open it now rather than later when i'd presumably be in a better place or at least one in which i'd be better able to deal with any news less than good.

as it turns out, i'm in an even better place right now and literally grinnin like a whole metropolis fulla idiots.

Hi Folks,

Sorry to keep you waiting.  Chele, thanks for covering for my "blank days". Okey dokey, here is the latest. 

Elie is doing very well.  He actually stood and took a couple of steps today to the wheelchair.  He has now been moved to the standard surgical ward, which is the last step before discharge. Yahoo!! The only thing left that needs to be watched is that pesky infection - it is still hanging around and they still don't know who, what, when, where.  Somehow, in this day and age, that seems quite incomprehensible to me.

He is settled in with his soft blankie and teddy bear from Sabrina. The big teddy now holds in it's lap a smaller white 'baby bear" that blows a kiss and says "I love you".  Okay, I know that is disgusting overkill, but I didn't do it.  That came from one of my Board of Directors that took a shine to Elie some years ago.

All things being good, Elie should be out in a week or possibly a little less.

Thank you all so much for your prayers, emails, cards, gifts, notes, phone calls and love from afar.  Oh, and also, thanks for supporting Elie's point whoring disease - I'm sure that these posts will, eventually, shoot him straight to the top

If you have a mind to call him (keep it short, he is weak and please don't call in the evening - he goes to sleep really early right now) the phone number is 707 399-6213 and he is in room 6102.  I know that he would love to hear from any and all of you, although I have read him most of your posts, he was asleep at the time....I think now, I should save them till he gets home.  Something to look forward to you know?
