For a Whale of a good time, join the "B.C. Space Orcas"

Just when you think you have conquered a planet, out from behind its' sun come a hoard of gigantic Doom-Ray equiped killer whales. This is enough to send even the most fierce Drengin running with his tail between his legs. I invite new and experienced players to join with me to take a run at the top. I have found different ways to beat the game at the suicidal level and am willing to give advice to anyone that wants it. I will change my meteverse name if someone joins my empire that is ahead of me 5 months after the recalc. The first 20 players to reach 100,000 points on the metaverse will become senators. You will be given no duties to perform except to have fun and help all of us reach the top. We now have a website. It can be found at WWW Link Come one come all. Bye for now. TBAY

You can't edit the savegame file and post it on metaverse, smarty . I just said it can be done in single player games. My post above yours explains my reasoning.

Don't post things to discredit me, I don't like it. Thanks.

Hi, unfunfofmpc

In my experience it will take two/three years in gigantic maps only to conquer all the planets.

If you unveil your, so called, optimum playing style and could then prove it is possible I will believe you.

Until then I call you cheater.

Oh well.

If you look at my Iron Guerilla post, I said I would tell the first 10 people who join who can complete tough+ games how to use my strategies. But I, of course, will never tell you because of your attitude towards me. End of this discussion.

To anyone interested in the "Iron Guerillas" experiment, read my post about it in this forum. Thanks.

Cntrl N about 35 times... Maybe play with just 1 AI opponent. Whatever. I smell CHEESE !!!

And don't say editing a save isn't possible with metaverse. There's bound to be a way to hack whatever checksum etc they're doing. Personally think you screwed up posting your cheats with such short games.

Oh well. I made the mistake of playing 32nd game, and i got knocked way down. Not sure how much i lost, but by posting a 90k game, i went from 9th to 17th.

I thought the score calculation was applicable to only individual games, thus you shouldnt drop places? Let me recheck the thread about that.

I've not restarted games, though in order to gain a higher score I might do that. My first gigantic game I played was with 9 ai opponents, second with 8. I do not know how much the number of ai opponents effects the score. It also doesn't help to have one AI opponent i'd think. One ai opponent on suicidal makes it harder to exploit ai aggressions toward each other and such. Though that doesn't matter a huge amount for how I play the game.

EDIT: The total score is modified as you play more games. Why? I can understand depreciating the value, but why dividing it when more games are played? I don't understand the purpose of that.

i think i got re-calced when i submitted, but i'm not sure. I think i'm done playing gigantic games, and so my metaverse days my be over anyway.

The turns just get too slow. Once i get more than a few ships getting completed a turn and heading to a distant rally point, my computer slows to a crawl. I wish they'd have a setting for ships to just jump or skip like a card getting delt to their destinations.

My last game the Arceans completely out played me through the beginning. They had about x5 the planets, population, and research as me. I thought i was doomed. Yet when they attacked, they were pathetic. They had all the tecs, money, and prodution to wipe me out, but didn't really even try. It took me forever to deal with them because their soldering was so high, and their planets would not flip. (or at least i got tired of waiting)

I don't get the AI in this game. Sometimes it plays a good game, sometimes it's pathetic. It seems you generally don't get AIs that know how to play all the dimensions of the game. One will suck developing planets, another won't colonize, and most commonly they fail to build good ships.

I havent had too much problem with the ai when i play for fun. I admit I have seen some interesting building choices on captured planets.

I have numerous ways to speed up the game, but I do not have access to the source code so I cannot do anything about it .

unfunfofmpc The metaverse is dying allready, and you want to plant the final dagger. Whether you are using algorithms or manipulating the game save code, it does not matter. You have found a way to exploit the game that will take the last bit of fun that the metaverse was creating and flush it. I hope you are proud of yourself. Maybe you can hack into bush's computer and find out who his Boss is. Why do some people have to tear a game apart to beat it. I see no enjoyment in this. I guess you came here to recruit players to your little clique. We are a small but very talented empire that takes pride in getting quality scores the old fashioned way. WE EARN IT. I agree with Jarru. Please do your shopping elsewhere. TBAY

I don't want to recruit people here. I only want 10 people, how much of a hinder on your empire can that take? No need to take my experiment personally. Algorithms are not cheating. It's using your brain. That is earning it just as much as anything else. And no, it's no fun for me to play like this. See my 'tough' game at 21,500 points? Tht was a nice long and fun game I played stupidly . I plan to play like that again once I complete my experiment.

But to say using algorithms is an unfair way to gain points is untrue. It's just one method to get points.

I don't want your members, so don't worry about it. I want people dedicated to my experiment, nothing more.

I am sorry if I offended you or gave you an impression I wanted your potential members by my post. I don't mean to upset you, this is not my intention.
I hope you forgive me, but I do not appreciate hostility. If you want to talk to me just do so in a calm manner and I will respond.

a lot of things happend since my last visit. I actually hoped to make it once to the 3rd place for at least one day, but now having unfunf here - well, it will be impossible. It took me 2 weeks to gain 240k an he can do this every day? Let me see at least your stats from the end. How can one conquer all on gigantic with 8 ai? No way to do this in 2 or 3 years. The ai spreads out like hell and you can get 50 planets - they have 10 times more. Even when having rare planet numbers: Where do you get your troops from to conquer them all in this short time? I had to recruit about 0,9 - 1 T people just for wars. Lost 0,7 T since 3 or 4 opponents also finished the tec tree. Well in 2 - 3 years they arent very strong, but need at least one transport for every planet, and take down the guarding ships too. So what ever you do - i think it is not possible you are playing the same game i do. Are you afraid of showing your stats? I'm only curious to see how the scores are. At my best game ever (240k) I had civ: 86284, Tec: 93064, Eco: 135875, Mil: 114244. The population was above 7 T. I killed about 5000 enemy ships and ~4 T enemy soldiers. When I would try to speed up the whole starting period I possibly could save 1 - 2 year, then the score could be much more higher. But this would take me an additional week to play - so I will not.

Please space out your paragraphs or something, it was hard for me to read what you said.

Ill put up my stats for the next game or tell me how i can find my stats. All I can find is population in LastSubmittedGame.xml. that and some other random stuff, but nothing about Tech/eco/mil scores. Where are these stored?
If this helps, this is from my LastSubmittedGame.xml in metaverse.

EDIT: For some reason it's not showing the XML tags. Just look in your My Games\GalCiv2\MetaVerse folder at LastSubmittedGame.xml and find the tags there.

Got it: This is for my ~272 game.

Tech: 42843
Military: 37642
Econ: 64021
Society: 49288
Total: (193794 / 192)*250 = 252,335 points. Off a bit from my actual game, by about 20000~ points. This is because of 2 reasons.

1. I am not sure of the exact number of turns, 192 was based on 3*52 + 4*9 because the game went 3 years + to september.
2. Any bonuses from playing against large numbers of opponents or playing on suicidal were not counted, as I don't know what they are.

There you go.

I believe the suicidal bonus to be 20k points. The number is so close to 20,000k, and with turns adjusted, probably matches 20,000 exactly. So there's a bonus figured out for yall .

Now, please stop bothering me, asshole.
This calculation is definitly wrong. As shown in other threads the turns value is somehow involved with the square.

For me you are definitivly a cheater, since you want me to belive that you get an eco score of 64k after 3 years? With eco rate 45%?? Never!
Also your values show a lot of uncommen numbers related to the scoring ones.
I could go on like this the whole day ... population with 4 T in 3 years with growth rate of 8%?

But i don't want to discuss this with you, since you seem not to be able to do this a normal way.

I figured no matter what I did you would give out some nonsense, so I had my doubts in trying to prove anything to you. I posted my stats, so as I said, hush. I don't know where you're getting '45%' from or a growth rate of 8%. My scores are not all incredibly impressive, I just do them in good time in order to achieve a decent number to be multiplied by the conquest multiplier. I believe I have proven myself to you, and I also believed that no matter what I post you would not change your mind because you are a jealous person. I truly dislike your kind, but there are all types of people in the world. I do hope, in time, you become mature and understand the err of your ways. Until then, try to enjoy yourself.

This is an obvious case of jealousy. I jumped one rank ahead of you, the former #3 player. Of course you are going to try to discredit me. However,
I will not change how I play because you try to discredit me. I will hit #1, and so will the empire I am in. I am truly sorry for disrupting the balance of the game; however, it's not going to stop me from doing so.

I do not want to be considered flaming, so I will attempt to stop this foolish conversation. I hope you do the same.
unfunfofmpc You come on to our thread and flame us, Calling us assholes because we call you a cheater. Then you wonder why we get upset with you. Using Algorithms is cheating. You can figure out how any AI works by using them. You have also denied trying to recruit our empire's players. To anyone interested in the "Iron Guerillas" experiment, read my post about it in this forum. Thanks. This statement sound very much like recruitment to me. I am trying to save the Metaverse. You are trying to kill it. Well I guess you have the support of the devs who like to hang out on other sites instead of their own. Have fun playing with yourself, as soon you will be the only person posting to the metaverse.
You are trying to kill it.

Actually, he is working to save the metaverse by STOPPING the algorithm abuse. You're just being an idiot.

I'm locking this before it gets out of hand. Rest assured that unfunf is cooperating with the devs to prevent future abuse of whatever system he is using (I have also seen him discussing it with Cari on IRC).
The flaming (in either direction) about unfunf's scoring stops now. I don't want to have to lock an empire thread.

Ok someone needs to post about something else. Does your contribution to empire get knocked down the same way your individual score does, or does the whole score get added in ?

gallagher118 The empire total is just a total of all the players totals within the empire. So if your score goes down, so does the empires score. I genuinely was trying to save the metaverse from this exploiter and received nothing but flames from everyone that read my post. I am sorry that I got caught up in their flames and started flaming back. If all of you want me to leave the empire, I will. I will leave it to a vote. This is a diplomatic empire, not a dictatorship. My months of frustration with this GC2 Metaverse is really starting to get to me. I used to get a lot of enjoyment from the game and the metaverse. If I leave the only way I see to change the emperor is to disband the empire. If you want me to leave, I will disband it and you are free to use the orca name and form another empire with whoever you chose as emperor. I really appreciate everything all of you have done to get us into the top 3. If you do choose to keep the empire in its present form I promise not to get drawn into fights with arrogant idiots. Will be awaiting all of your replies. By for now. TBAY

Darth Kryo..... Marcathonas and unfunfofmpc are not members of our empire and they are causing grief among our members with there flames. I am sorry if you thought i was flaming Stardock. This is not the case as I have been a member for years. I was trying to defend my members from this exploiter by drawing your attention to his posts in our thread. I do hope that you and the devs will soon see through unfunfofmpc's deception and reveal him for the freud he is. Do you really think he will stop exploiting the game after 30 days. After 30 days the devs will put in many hours of hard work to find a way to stop his revealed exploits. He will then find more and offer to do another experiment. By then, the only players that will be left in the metaverse will be his select group of exploiters. That will be all that is left. I promise this is the last comment I will make on this topic. I dont want you to have to ruin the fun for the rest of our empire for a stupid mistake that I made. I have spent a lifetime analysing people, and their responses to my probing questions. This time I let my anger get the best of me. I am ashamed of myself. Also can you tell me why our empire thread keeps running text to the right and we have to scroll to read it. This just started tonight. Thanks for your time, TBAY

The reason for your thread looking strange is, and I really really, hate to say this, comment #137.

We had a similar problem in A Place For The Hijack Crew To Hang out thread (since inactive). If you use a long line of characters not seperated by spaces it will throw the entire page of a thread out of whack.

Please believe me when i say I don't think the poster did this on purpose, I don't want to aggravate this any further, but just wanted to help you with your thread.

On a happier note, you only need a couple more posts to get to the next page, after which things should return to normal.

Hope that helped,

Morning everybody. I know this is getting annoying - but there are some things I have to say to the actual thing..

1. My vocabulary background is not that high so things I like to say sometimes seem to be hard to get by people.

2. I always try to post comments in a polite form - as long others do so too. Why call me a a**h**?
Do not wonder when I use the "c" word in a reply upsetting people with. My fomer post on any topic always tried to focus the game - I do not let things get personally - I sometimes think others actually try to do so. (Well when trying to keep picking on me - please try to write it the correct way as it goes S-y-r-r-u-s. thanks)

3. I'm not jealous on anybody having higher scores than mine. Man, this is a game - a good one. Take a closer look and you will find my char is not created to be ranked whatever. I think that other (especially from my empire) are quite more "addicted" players who will be re-ranked above me soon.

4. TBAY - why stop the Orca Empire? The last few weeks I enjoyed the whole thing - hopefully like all you others. Why end it up? Do not.
