Just when you think you have conquered a planet, out from behind its' sun come a hoard of gigantic Doom-Ray equiped killer whales. This is enough to send even the most fierce Drengin running with his tail between his legs. I invite new and experienced players to join with me to take a run at the top. I have found different ways to beat the game at the suicidal level and am willing to give advice to anyone that wants it. I will change my meteverse name if someone joins my empire that is ahead of me 5 months after the recalc. The first 20 players to reach 100,000 points on the metaverse will become senators. Welcome Orca777. Are you friends with Orcas 1 thru 1000. If we had all of them we woud be number one already. There seems to be a problem with the meteverse empire signup. I think I got in okay, problem solved, at least on my computer.

I scored my first victory for this empire! Sure it was on the lowest difficulty but I felt like a leasurely game, and I wouldn't mind some stratagy advice!

Go to the Metaverse. Click on the more button under Empires. Look for The B. C. Space Orcas. We are in about 20th place. Click on the empire. Once in the page look on the left side for the join empire button. The rest is self explanitory. If you join right away I will make you a senator. Bye for now.

Welcome Thawalk. Good to have you aboard. I am just about finished a suicidal conquest victory on a large map which will bring us up to about 17th place. I have promoted all the new people that join us to senators. The first 20 will be promoted. After a few months I might add new senators if they are productive in recruiting new members or they are putting up massive scores for our empire. Bye for now. Welcome Norad and Razius. We are growing in leaps and bounds. If you can help me recruit some more players we will rise to the top in no time. The top empires' scores will drop substantially when they finish the recalc as their top players all have a lot of 1.1 beta scores that were not recalced. In the past 2 days we have gone from 1 member to 5 and have moved from 21st place to 11th. I have just promoted you both to senator. Bye for now. TBAY

Thanks! I stepped up to painful tonight, but my score was less than a win on tough...man this scoring system... I managed to break the 50th mark with my win yesterday! Now if I can just keep my ranking going down. I am sure interested in seeing your tips for playing on higher difficulties.

If you haven't already done it, I'd like to volunteer to put together (or help with) a webpage for the empire. I'll admit that i've been out of the practice of making pages, but this will give me an excuse to get back into it. I'll also donate the webspace (after I get my domain back on a host that is) for the group if you are interested.

Yes. I am very interested in a web page. It will give me more ammunition to put in my shameless plugs for our empire that I am posting everywhere. I should have some tips for all of you soon. I am also frustrated with the scoring system. I just posted a large map suicidal win, played without tech trading, and only scored about 32000. This took me 3 days to play. I had a suicidal win on a medium sized map a couple of weeks ago that took me only 5 hours to play, as I was tech trading, and I scored only 500 less than the game I just posted. It is much more of a challenge to play without tech trading but you aren't rewarded for it. When I play with Tech trading I can usually complete the whole Tech Tree in Just over 2.5 years. This enables me to dominate the galaxy alot earlier, and score much higher. It seems the earlier you achieve domination and max out all areas, the higher your score will be. I might of scored higher on the game I just posted if i had kept a "pet planet" of the last remaining race and ammassed trillions of dollars but that becomes boring as all you do is press end turn. Now that I know I can beat the game without tech trading. I think I will rattle of a few Medium sized maps with tech trading to get our empire in to the top 10 or higher. Keep me posted as to the web page. I will rewrite the post that got lost ( some reason it didnt post) on an early game strategy and will have it posted within the next couple of days. And norad you should give some advice to the newer players also as you are getting very good scores for the difficulty level you are playing at. I think you hit something there on the scoring. I always play with tech trading off but my higher scoring games tend to be those where I've lucked into finding 2 or more tech resources to mine. I ususally play with fast tech and with the multi resources I was learing a lot of techs in one turn. I'll also run few games by with tech trading on to see what it does for the scoring.

I have started turning off all victory types so that the only way to win is by conquest. By doing this, it is possible to turn an influence win into a military win which is more on the score. I did run a whole game without ever having one battle as my military was stronger than the AI so it never attacked. It was a bit boring building nothing but influence bases by every AI planet but I was curious to know if it could be done. My style of gaming tends to be a "builder" as I like to build up everything before attacking but in all honestly the higher scores I've acquired have come from being a conquestor from the start (since the acquired techs add in to score as mentioned above).

When I get in from work this evening I'll go hunting for a host for my domain and see if I can get us at least a basic site up for the time being while I work on something a bit more eye catching. I'll let you all know when I get it up and running.

BTW, congrats on breaking the top 20 and making fleet captain!

I also am a builder. At the hardest levels the AI races build up their military much quicker, and want to expand their territory much earlier in the game. Becouse of this it is almost impossible to avoid going to war early in the game. If you can survive the first war, and aquire most of the defeated AI's planets before it gives up and hands its planets to another race, You stand a chance to compete for the rest of the game. At that point I usually form an alliance with the strongest race that has the same ethical allignment that I have. That way I can concentrate on building my worlds to the max and spend more money on research, knowing the other race is covering my back. Bye for now, TBAY

As everyone seems to be posting their stratagies, mine is what I like to call a "Shipwrite." I design ships and then sell them to other races, but it only seems to work durring wars.

Howdy all!

Just wanted to let eveyone know that I've got my hosting set up and now I'm just waiting on the nameservers to resolve. When they do resolve, I've put a temp page up for the orcas. Since I've wasted this much time finding a host, I'm going to go ahead an get a game started and will probably wait for the weekend to actually work on the site. I haven't made up my mind on if I want it to be on a subdomain but for now it will be on the root domain of Link. I will also be putting up a forum in due time. If anyone has any suggestions or if you have ship pictures you might like on the site let me know. I'll also set up an email address once everything resolves (probably tomorrow since I'll be in the game for the rest of the night). According to my host, the above link should work. Either it doesn't or my ISP has not resovled the domain yet but either way it isn't working for me. If it is my ISP, I have to say this is the longest I've ever seen it take. Could one of you let me know if the link works (it should take you to a temp page) so I'll know which group I'm going to have to raise hell with. Thanks.

When I try the link I get the error message Host Not Accessable. The web host portalsofadventure.com is not accessible. I dont Know if this will help you but it is as far as i could get when trying the link.

Yeah, I'm still getting DNS errors too. Its been over 48 hours, so I'll try tomorrow to see what may be causing it. I have to admit that I didn't work on the page any today as I got into a huge map and played until just a minute ago. I'm having to use toothpicks to hold my eyes open just to post this. Hopefully I can get the game finished fairly quickly in the morning since I'm down to 1 AI, and he trapped in a corner.
