Well i finished with 115k at maso without dragging it out at all. My score was only good cause i finished quickly. (just over 4 years)

I may go back to see if playing longer would have increased score. I had an economic boom for what seemed like the last year of the game, and i was hoping if i finished while it was still active i'd get a better score. I'm not sure if it mattered.

Oh well. Playing with just 2 opponents may be an easy way to go for high scores.

Hi there all B.C. Space Orcas, noticed last night u were just 30,000 - 40,0000 pts short of Overmind for 1st placed empire in the metaverse, so I thought I would jump ship from the Jedi Republic, which is a dieing empire and join u guys!

Just in time because B.C Space Orcas r now 1st. I will keep submiting games at my usual pace and hopefully we will stay top whale, perhaps pull away from the competition. Thus claiming our rightful place as masters of the universe.

Great to have you aboard Meglobob. We have some great players in our group. We all like to share info. on our games. If you read our previous posts on this thread you will find a lot of usefull info. I will echo the above statement and say, it was a long hard fight, but we did it. I here the old "Queen" song "We are the Champions" playing throughout the empire. I hope the interest in the Metaverse will improve now that they have the scoring system problems solved. It would make our goal to remain Number One a lot more fun if we had some competition. You mean population? I usually have every planet with 15k. On high quality planets I sometimes make "breeder" planets. They are for invasion or filling up low rated planets population faster. But I try to have all with 100% morale. All my games ended up with total rating of 98% or 99%.

do you sit and quick buy ships all over to keep building up your military score?

Not really. First I build slow, but heavy fighters for protection. Then I build faster ones who will be added into fleets for attacks. When I'm in a hurry I try to buy some. But as long as the tec tree is not finished I have to save te money for upgrading the experienced fleets to keep the advantage. Later when only few new ships (depends on losses and number wars) are needed I build them for scoring purpose only. I tend to buy my first ships on research planets because it would take years to finsh the big ones.

No for 20k i ment money wise. If you have over it, you get something like a 20% penalty to your economy. Was thinking it could nock your score down, but havn't tested yet.

It's easy to see it's there, if you look at your economy graph, you'll see spikes back and forth when near 20k.

I realized that there sometimes is a reduction of eco after some time, but I didn't know that 20k is the magic point. I always have a high money account so the jumps in the graph were not that often. 20% sounds high - but also plausible. I actually have no idea how to avoid it. I need to do so - and I enjoy it too much having +100.000 MC per turn. As long eco is my highest score I can take the 20%.

I think, that the economic boom event you told is enhancing your score - as well the econnomic reduction event and the 20% reduce it. Anything changing the graphs is for score.

Ok. What i did was constantly buy huge hulls to gooble up the extra money every turn to get back under 20k. It gets a bit tedius...

With the eco boom i was making ~200k/turn. My econ score was pretty good for the population i had so i think you're right. Do you think it only matters what's going on at the end of the game, or an integral of whatever you made throughout the game ?

They always say its the "overall" score. So it should be working a integral way.

When I boost military production at the beginning for longer period for go to war and lower research it feels like it is always harder to enhance the research score later.

What are your experiences?

I don't know, but i'd like to experiment to figure it out. I tend to agree it's probably integral.

I've also wondered if your "top" planets add in in some way. Since the stats show most populous, and most happy i've wondered if having 1 planet be uber populated might help. Oh well.

I hope 1.3 gives the AI some improvements. I'm playing a game at large because the last few at gigantic have been fairly lame past mid-game.

Has any one thought of making a website for the empire like the galactic diplomats have?

Man, the v1.3b is a bit more challenging...either that or I've managed to loose my edge as the AI has started handing me my ass on crippling. I'll know for sure if I can pull myself out of this hole I've dug in the game I'm playing now. Till later!

I am into my 2nd game with 1.3 beta 1 and the big, huge improvement that I have seen is AI planetary development. It's building 3xfactories on all of its worlds, plus 1 farm on higher PQ worlds then eco/research/influence buildings. Much better.

I think we should keep this thread going for new players just discovering GC 2, this post will bump us up abit.

I've recently joined "BC Space Orcas" Posted a few games and I am quite impressed with the large scores. Glad we're on top and I hope that my scores will be my part to help keep us there.

I've never got much past fourty thousand so if you have any free advice I'd welcome and use such knowledge.
