For a Whale of a good time, join the "B.C. Space Orcas"

Just when you think you have conquered a planet, out from behind its' sun come a hoard of gigantic Doom-Ray equiped killer whales. This is enough to send even the most fierce Drengin running with his tail between his legs. I invite new and experienced players to join with me to take a run at the top. I have found different ways to beat the game at the suicidal level and am willing to give advice to anyone that wants it. I will change my meteverse name if someone joins my empire that is ahead of me 5 months after the recalc. The first 20 players to reach 100,000 points on the metaverse will become senators. You will be given no duties to perform except to have fun and help all of us reach the top. We now have a website. It can be found at WWW Link Come one come all. Bye for now. TBAY

Perhaps this can raise a few of the Orcas from their slumber:

orca sounds

I thought something in your own language might get your attention

Folks, please have a look at this thread: Ideas for a Constitution in the Metaverse discussion area. We would like to hear your views on, and hopefully your participation in, a body of players who want to improve the Metaverse experience.

Sorry if I'm talking out of turn, I would just hate to see the Orcas go gentle into that good night of imperial apathy.

You are not talking out of turn, your encouragement is very welcome. Hopefully, theyll awaken soon.

I'm as surprised as you that there is no response at all. A little more patience seems to be necessary - well the game is out for one year, some hours wouldn't make such a huge difference. And as you can see there wasn't much activity in this thread for months. Maybe a reason for others not to check every day. And after the admin of our own forum disappeared it now is abadoned and filled with spam. I'm sure not to be "last man standing". Some different views are welcome before the council is initiated.
As said before I still support the idea of a council and if this means to "volunteer" untill the Orcas made their decision I will do so.

Thanks for the response, we would be honored to have you as the Rep for the Orcas while they return from their migration(do they migrate?. If you know of anyone else that might be willing to do this and is active on the forums, could you please try to contact them, we would like one more rep from Orca if possible. If this is too much trouble just give us some names/email adresses and well try to contact them.

Thanks in Advance.

I would expect ras1310 or thagee or Orca777 to stop by now and then. That should probably be sufficient. Just as long as the next guy in is willing to take some responsibility. We really don't require that much. We have plenty of folks that are willing to do the "heavy lifting". The only commitment we need is for a couple of folks willing to check in 2~3 times a week and add their two cents to the current conversation and vote on things already discussed. When and if the Orca's get their act together then they can decide what to do. It's difficult for me to imagine that the #1 empire in the metaverse is dead, I'm sure it's just "resting" although it may require some ambitious person to take the reins.

Seems like they are posting games, but i dont see whats keeping them together. Hopefully we will se them again soon.

I think it might be that we've gotten the cart before the horse. It's not the metaverse that's in danger of decay it's as much the forums that are in danger of decay.

We've been assuming that since we're unable to contact folks that means the empire is in decay, but as you say they're still submitting games, so it's not that they're inactive metaverse players, it's that they're inactive forum watchers.

Anyway, first Orca in please make contact with any of the other three empires, The Galactic Diplomats, The High Command Hegemony or Arrakis Imperium.

Done. But why needs it an extra forum for the council?

We have an easy way to take polls. We have a private area for "sensitive" discussions or just to get away from the maddening crowd. We also have a dedicated public area for Council business only plus private messaging. We also have the home page for the Galactic Diplomats and the Arrakis Imperium as well as we're offering to set up private areas for *all* empires at the core. If the Ocra's home page is abandoned we'd like to offer you a new home. Also any other empire's out there that need a place of your own we've got one for you, it only costs 0 down, 0 a month with 0 interest for the life of the loan. I'll be making a more global announcement about this soon.

Hey Mumble, if the position hasn't already been filled, I would be happy to register for the Orca's - I will go and have a look at the constitution thread and see what it's all about...

Liek you said Mumblefratz, Orca's are still posting games, they simply aren't much of a communicative bunch...those shy whales.

I think this thread died when Meglo stopped posting his hints and tips - perhaps that is what is needed, some more hints and tips for thos young Orca pups (are they called pups?)

Hey Mumble, if the position hasn't already been filled

Congratulations, you've been elected to serve on the Metaverse Council as a representative of the B.C. Space Orcas until such time as you can be confirmed or replaced. Please report to the Metaverse Council area on the The Galactic Core. Please register with your metaverse name at which time you'll be fitted with your new robes. Champagne and Caviar will be served in the private Council Chambers once your identity has been verified by retinal scan.

Thagee's Galciv 2 hints and tips #1
(no promises this will be of any use to anybody...)

MAKE LOVE BEFORE WAR

Whatever your initial game set-up is, one should always consider the need for billions and billions of warm bodies to carry out your bidding!

Before I bother about any weapon techs, I research Habitat Improvement ASAP so that I can build the APHORDISIAC trade good before any other race.

Mass (re)production of people will give you an obvious leg-over...err I mean up, on the competition, it will allow you to send waves of transport after transport against your enemies, allowing you to rapidly swallow their planets.

Population is a factor of metaverse scoring, and establishment of an effective economy is also dependant upon lots and lots of flesh! So as we say here in Oz 'get shagging!' and get those virtual Galcitizens populating your planets!

(heavy populated planets also make it difficult for the enemy to counterstrike and raid your planets, keep this in mind as you smash your way through an enemies systems! Habitat Improvement can be used to trade for buckets of weapon techs early in the game)

Hope that helps - feedback is appreciated (I can take it...)

Thagee, are you saying that you're out to 'screw over' your enemies?

Welcome to the council, we're glad to have you and the Orcas aboard. I think all of the totally aquatic sea mammals have calves, whereas the land-based ones (i.e., seals, walrus) have pups.

Glad to see the quick response Thagee and I hope you enjoy the Core.

Since I have been mentioned in the above discussion, I might as well say that Mumblefratz is right about me at least: I don't contribute to the forums all that often. Most of my involvement with this game is playing it, and submitting the results. I don't have enough interest in the Forums to join in the discussions on a regular basis.

Still all in all it's good to see you check in. The lack of response from Thebestaintyou is a little discouraging. I would like to see the Orcas get a bit more organized.

I am thinking that the issue is as much a forum problem as it is a metaverse problem. But there does need to be reliable communication, certainly among an empire itself, as well across the entire metaverse. From what I hear the Orcas web site has fallen into disrepair.

I want to repeat the offer that I've made here and elsewhere that the Galactic Core has offered to host *all* GC2 empires and to provide each with their own seperate and private forums as well as access to all common areas of the Core. It could be a place where any Ocra could show up, however infrequently they wished and still be assured that dust hasn't covered up all traces of the Orcas existence.

Also, everyone is invited to join the Core regardless of empire membership or even metaverse interest.

LOL, I'll hopefully get in there and have a look around and do some reading today, whilst procrastinating on writing this article for work...grr I HATE writing articles.

No probs guys : re joining the council - Mumble, actually I prefer bold hearty reds to champagne and cocktails, I am a South Aussie, we make the best Reds in the world here!

Okay, time to think up another useless hint/tip.

Indeed Mrashall O'niel, 'screwing over' the enemies is what I do best LOL, although I better get a bit quicker at it, if I ever want to land a place in the top 25, before LOTR: Shadows of Angmar comes out... Then poor Gla Civ 2 will get shelved for a while! (awwww) But I will ALWAYS come back, it's such a cool game!

I'm just an American so I prefer pedestrian fare such as Budweiser. BTW we have at least three topics on-going awaiting your input. Toot sweet. Your fans are all atwitter in anticipation. Also, one of my best friends married a Tasmanian she-devil (at least that's what we call her). Does that qualify as South Aussie?
By definition YES, in spirit - NO. (re: Tasmanian She-devil).

Although I must admit, that Tasmania is a gorgeous little Island, and perhaps the only other place in Australia I would consider living in. Simply stunning, gorgeous forests, awesome mountains and cool twisty windy roads, perfect for driving fast metal along.

I'm from Adelaide, South Australia, home of Penfolds and Jacobs Creek, and a whole stack of other awesome boutique wineries..ahhh my mouth is watering just thinking about it... Time to go home for a drink.

Mumble, I managed to catch up on the thread re: constitution here on the GalCiv 2 Forum, I will check in with the threads on the Core tonight/tommorrow, but I do promise to post something in the next 48 hours.

Thagee, sorry about your difficulties. Next time you have an issue go directly to The Galactic Core. There's an open area that guests can post to. Just look under the forums link. In there you can post your name and the difficulty that you're having. There's almost always an admin around that could help you on the spot, but failing that could leave you directions on what to do.
