Yeah, I know people we're hoping for an overhaul, but we really needed to keep things simple for backporting purposes (plus there's only so much you can do with a 4 year old codebase before massive pain ensues). The main issues that we're trying to address here are... 1. Gaining intelligence levels by spys that can be nullified is a PITA. 2. Spys get too costly (mostly becuse of the tug-of-war caused by 1). 3. You should be able to spy on minor races. There w
the cost of agents now becomes much more reasonable because you don't have to risk losing them just to gather intelligence
Exactly...costs should stay reasonable for those playing a passive espionage game. It's only when you're trying to use the spys in an agressive manner do their cost start hurting. That's not to say we wont need further help balancing, but we think this is step in the right direction.
Get your fancy shoes shined up and your speeches practiced...it's time to take your game to the big leauges with PM2008: Super Tuesdays ! Starting Tuesday, September 23rd, the team at Stardock will be online for some 1 on 1 presidental campaigning. Join us us until the election from 6pm - 8pm EST to test your political metal. <
I saw 2 new candidates up there :) Keep em comin, James! :D
Cat: Man, I have no idea why the game shows up for you (it's definatly not in your customer info). We should really wait until garber comes back, though, cause we'll just go round 'n round assuming what the issue is. My best guess is that, due to regestry settings, if you install from the CD, it'll pick the game up in Impulse and list it there. However, due to the crappy CD Checking stuff Ubisoft made us add, when you try to run the game it errors out (either on the Impuse en
Yes, I've verified that the candidates aren't showing up in the library. I emailed some smarter people than myself on he matter...hopefully they'll have an answer soon [e digicons]:ninja:[/e]
Because you purchased online, through us, and so your info is in the database. I don't know why serial numbers weren't provided in the boxed 2004 version, but know that now that we're self publishing, we/you wont have to be subjected to weird anti-piracy schemes again :) And any boxed copy users that regester will have full downloadable access to the game.
Check for the 1.50.050 update...that AI fix (amongst others) is in there.
1.50.050 should have the VP fix, and it fixes a bunch of other issues, and you can play against Express players. So I suggest you get it :)
Yeah man, if you made them using 1.5, be sure to send them to the Candidate Library! Let's get some user content rockin! :D
Garber: Do you currently have the original CD? CatWhoWalks: Thinking back, I remember Ubisoft forcing some un-clean updating policies on the game, and I'm not actually sure how updates were handled (was it a web-patch that players had to get). The problem is, without purchase info in our database, or even some serial number fo verify against, we can't judt let anyone download the full version from Impulse.
You guys are the best
[e digicons][/e] No, YOU GUYS are the best!
will this be accompanied by an optin to circumvent the popup window that lists available modules
Yes, all popups are ignored when Starbase production is automated (besides the final 'No More Modules to Add' notice).
i was hoping for some kind of system to tell the game what modules to add and what modules not to add
I know that people feel this may be a bit TO
Will you be prompted if it tries to construct something and you don't have enought cash?
I think, ATM, it'll skip any modules if you're in the red, but as long as you have 1 bc in the bank it'll upgrade. We're trying to keep prompts to a minimum when automation is enabled.
Could we create custom build queues?
Afraid not, but I really don't think you guys will feel lost without that pin-point precision. What we're trying to solve with this is when you hav
All updates can be acquired via Impulse. When the game runs, select 'Check for Updates' on the Launcher, go to the 'Updates' tab in Impulse, and double click Political Machine :)
If you're logged in over on Wincustomize.com, you simply... 1. Click the 'Submit to Gallery' link below your screename 2. Select the 'Poitical Candidates' library from the dropdown list 3. Fill in all the fields: Skin name is the name of the candidate, the image is just the picture the galaxy uses, and the candidate file is located in the candidates/packages directory (and does not need to be in a zip file). Pending approval (I'll be moderating and help yo
1. I have one we'll be uploading on Monday :) 2. Yeah, you should be able to go into the .CANDIDATES file and manually update those stats, though I dont know if they'll work over multiplayer if they break the points limits.
I think you only have to enter that code if you wnat the updates. Or did Ubisoft force us to require activation...I forget. :( The bad news is that code is required to download from Impulse to get the latest version. The good news is that it's dropped in price drasticially :) You may just want to pick up a new code (it's down to $4.95) http://total
Hmm...I guess a simple solution to this would be: any states that are 2% or less apart (show up pink on the map view) would get pushed to the back of the tally list. You show off the 'sure things' then loop back around to the battleground states. May now always end up in a nail biter, but at least it wouldn't require Cali and Hawaii to the be lynch-pins. At least, I THINK it's simple...I'd have to check out the code (the guy that wrote that part is long gone). I'll keep you p
Yes, as long as you've updated to 1.5 you can use our new Candidate Library... https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=74 Just download the candiddate and open the file - the game does the rest! And feel free to upload your own creations. We'll keep uploading what we make, but the ball will really start rolling if players join in the fun :)
DrCorday: 'Fraid not :( What in particular were you looking for? If we did a slower version of the results, I would imagine commentator play-by-play and specific stats (who voted, and why, and perhaps some voter quotes)....much more in-depth that we could do in a patch. But, if you have a quick(er) and easy(er) suggestion, perhaps we can get it in! :)
So weird...upon further inspection I've definatly seen this bug in action. You guys enjoy the easy victories until the next update ;)
Do you still use the email address that you regestered 2004 with? If so, you can have Impulse email your serial numbers to you.
The 'CD key' should be the serial number. Contact if the database is having trouble accepting it :( Stupid databases.
Hey guys! If you grab the v1.5 update off Impulse, you'll find a new type of file made every time you make a candidate in... ...my documents/my games/polmachine2008/candidates/packages These files, with the CANDIDATE extention, are a 1 file distribution method for sending around candidates. 'But Scott, what if I don't want to email these files to everyone that want's my creation?' https://www.wincu
Do I need to buy a second copy for in-house multiplayer?
According to the EULA? Yes. According to the code. Nope ;) As for why it's not working, make sure you've... 1. Updated each copy to the latest version of the game. 2. After pressing the 'Multiplayer' button, be sure to select 'Play over Lan' (or something that sounds similar) to set up a LAN game. Have your son use your local IP address (should be 10.1.1.x) 3. Enjoy!
