They're not EA Games.
I think your point is best emphasied by the gaming industry in Australia. Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games retail for AU$120.00 at launch. Even the shit ones. Nearly all PC Games will cost AU$100.00 at launch, some expansion packs and other 'smaller' games will cost AU$79.95. I'm not sure of Demigod's price at retail, I paid $59.00 for it over Impulse. If I remember rightly, and I can't provide links but it's the main reason I refuse to use it, Steam adjusted it's pric
Compare Stardock's forums to the World of Warcraft and Spore forums. At the World of Warcraft forums there are more "THIS GAME SUCKS" posts than any other kind. On top of that, Blizzard employees treat each post they make like they're taking time away from being Gods to mix with the mere mortals and underlings - it's almost as if they don't like their customers. They focus their community updates with talk on 'their vision' and 'their ideas' as opposed to actually talking to</e
I can't imagine this wouldn't be terribly difficult to implement, and it sure sounds like a hell of a way to seperate the Men from the Mice, so to speak. I think it has a limited scope, not many players enjoy being punished for actually progressing - I for one like the idea, at least in theory. Count me in!
I downloaded Demigod through Impulse, and I just assumed Impulse was installed when Demigod was. I'll make a mental note of that for later.

Awesome! Looking forward to knocking off work and downloading this update to test. I'll tripple check all of my settings to make sure I've got everything as needed and try from there. If this works, I'm taking Friday off of work.
I'd recommend using Impulse to validate your install and then try updating Demigod again. I haven't actually had this problem myself, so I'm not terribly sure how to fix it.
Map editor - This is a must or a lot of people will grow bored, the reason WC3 is still $50 is because of Tower Defense, Dota, etc. I know that this game is a LOT more complex for map design but never underestimate the creative drive of a strong fan base. Almost every game I've played long-term has been improved dramatically over the years by fans not the IP holder. I'd loooove to see DG based tower defense.
This gets brought up quite often, however if I
That does not follow. Thievery does not equate with "avoiding payment". By this reasoning, someone who becomes friends with Frogboy and gets a copy for free is a thief as he "avoided payment". Same for someone who got the game as a promo offer or somesuch. Whatever you may call them, is irrelevant. You may call them murderers too, but that does not make them so.
Ah, of course, because by "avoiding payment" I meant people who rece
Divide and conquor, as they say.
Ownership of an idea or a product you have created off of your own brains and brawns is the central principal to the modern world; besides the law, of course. Freedom of information to all is a noble idea, and I would support it in an ideal world however since 100,000 people illegally downloaded this game before it was offically released I would say we don't live in an ideal world and these people don't deserve the benefit of the doubt; they obtained the game in a manner deliberatly designed
As long as you can spare the time to type, it's usually not hard to co-ordinate. I can't wait for VOIP though.
I find you can spend your initial 1k gold on equipment and skip the Citadel upgrade for Health Regen, as it's highly unlikely the enemy is going to push hard enough to reach your Towers and do irreversible damage in the opening minutes. The exception is The Rook - who's initial purchase should always include a scroll of teleport. After that, I just play safe and farm creeps until I can get the Gold Upgrade.
A good Strat is to keep one team member back a little, out of sight, using one Demigod as bait and when the Enemy tries to take a lane you both jump in. Don't go for the kill, just force them to retreat and then pull back. Doing this several times early game can really throw them off balance late game as they're not confident enough to try and take down a Demigod, fearing your buddy is lying in wait.
I find it depends really. I used to just let them take it, however now I think it's only worth it if you've got excellent anti-creep Demigods in your team - because you can burn through them without losing too much time elsewhere on the map. I mostly play as Rook or Erebus. When playing Erebus I find it's not worth the additional effort, depsite the speed advantage, however if I go Off-Spec Hammer for Rook it's absolutely worth it. It mostly works great if your ah
On a side note, can we please call these in-game moderators Tadpoles?
I don't think the competitive community has sprung up yet, mostly due to the connection issues. Once thats fixed, and the initial round of game balancing and bug fixing takes place, I think the competitive community will gain quite a bit of momentum. I'm looking forward to it myself - I do Ok online, however I haven't been able to play a 'proper' game yet as connection issues always get in the way. Best of luck.
They might get a bunch of sales because of this.
Well, Brad has mentioned Game Ranger no less than 50 times, perhaps this is all part of some kind of master plan...
This has been mentioned in a different thread. If you've ever played Counter-Strike, they tried a simillar system for a while and it nearly ruined the game - the most useful items were the most expensive the least useful items were the least expensive punishing players for using items that were helpful to their strategy. It's an interesting idea, however I can't personally see how it would work to the benefit of the game in Demigod.
Fair enough. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. As long as they don't include uber-powerful Demigods as priced DLC I won't mind :)
As mentioned already, I too have bad memories of Counter-Strikes attempt to implement this into their game. The main rifles in the game, the M4 and the AK-47, became so over-priced that the game stopped being fun. Yes, the lesser used guns finally got some attention - but they were lesser used for a reason and we were all reminded of those reasons until the system was shutdown. Not to shoot you down OP, but I just don't think this kind of idea is suited to this kind of game.<
Because more heroes lead to more interesting and diverse matches. You can only do a finite combination with 8 demigods and their items, and can get old fast. Not so with 20+ demigods.
I'm going to have to disagree with you. During my time with WCIII, which eventually led me to DotA, I saw that quite a few of the Heroes were simply never used. There were merely a handful of Heroes played by the best players, and most of the commun
