I'm going to edit my original post too, but could those of you having issues with memory, slowdown or graphical glitches please try this build and let us know if it helps? Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have improved performance for me at all. Still getting single-digit framerates whenever there are ships on-screen.

Fair enough. I'll just say it again: programming is very tricky. "Easier said than done" applies more to programming than almost anything else.
But Stormbringer, "beta" is a testing phase. Once this phase is over, the developers will release an official, stable update. So just be patient, let the rest of us test the beta patches, and eventually you'll get what you want. What you described earlier, how every new beta patch fixes some issues and creates some more, is just how things are. Programming is tricky. You fix one bug, and inevitably another one will spring up. That's why the beta is necessary. So the develop
Stormbringer, these are beta patches for a reason. Nobody forced you to install them.
I'm one of the people actually getting slower performance since the latest patch. Single-digit framerates with 2 ships on the screen. It appears to be affected only by the ships; I get 60-70 frames per second with no ships present. I can't limit my favorites to just 7, unfortunately. StarCraft (they just announced the sequel last night, which makes me very happy) XCOM: UFO Defense Knights of the Old Republic World of Warcraft (say what you want about it, but crappy games don't get billions of subscribers) Allegiance Half-Life 1 and 2 TIE Fighter Sam & Max Hit the Road Deus Ex System Shock 2 As for worst... I can't say I've really played many games that truly sucked, sin
StarCraft 2 has just been announced in Korea. Updates from IGN: http://pc.ign.com/articles/788/788627p1.html I thought the day would never come. Holy crap.

Micro$oft sux lolz! AM I COOL ON TEH INTERNET YET?
Oops, double post.
From what I heard, he comes across as much more confident and composed when dealing with individuals and small groups of people. But jeez, put that man in front of a camera or a crowd and he's a mess. So yeah, I think he's definitely more intelligent than he sometimes appears.
"This is the reason why i'm waiting for the map editor" It's actually not that difficult to create maps without an editor. It just takes Notepad and some patience.
Play a different race, pick different abilities, reach for different goals. I'm fairly new at this, but I've already become somewhat frustrated with warfare (and it doesn't help that too many ships on-screen destroy my framerate). So what I'm going to do in my next game is try to achieve a pure Diplomatic victory. I'm going to have 2 or 3 opponents of different alignments (I think I'll do Altarians and Drengin), and try to win the game by getting alliances with both of them.
You probably would have been better PMing Frogboy with this information, instead of sharing the exploit with everyone. Just sayin'.
This is a lifesaver. I have been having tons of fun with Galactic Civilizations II, until I get in a war with someone. Then more ships get involved and things slow to a crawl. Psst... did anybody tell Brad that he already has our money?
It's a beta patch, hence the [b], so the information you're looking for is in the Beta forum. Luckily for you, I compiled the relevant bits right here: The first beta of 1.6 is purely fixes and performance improvements. The new features and game balance tweaks will come in subsequent betas. That said, these changes are pretty significant. First off, the defense handling has been ch
Certainly Crichton isn't arguing that global warming isn't happening, just as nobody argues against the existence of secondhand smoke. He, and many others, are skeptical of the severity of it, though. The thing is, there wouldn't be a global warming debate if any of it had a basis in solid science. There wouldn't be a need to use the term "consensus" in relation to global warming. As great as democracy is, it has no place in science. The whole speech is
After I read the article(after frequent MSN interuptions), I noticed, that he never did explain how belief in aliens is the cause of "global warming." He just talks a LITTLE about some dudes theoretical formula. The rest was just compiled instances, where government consenses(sr?) are usually innacurate. What he said is that SETI being accepted as science helped pave the way for more ideas like "nuclear winter," "secondhand smoke," and "global warming" b
Gemini, try reading a little more... like perhaps the very next sentence. "Or to speak more precisely, I will argue that a belief in extraterrestrials has paved the way, in a progression of steps, to a belief in global warming." At least read the speech and explain what you guys disagree with, instead of feigning stupidity to avoid addressing it.
Also, this thread makes my head spin. You guys are talking about every political and religious issue all at once. I have a lot to say, but I honestly don't know where to start. Maybe you should consider making separate threads.
"If God is all-powerful, then can he make a rock that is so big he himself can't lift it?" The best answer being that God isn't so dumb as to ever consider doing something so pointless. I am an agnostic myself, but I always thought that was a stupid question.
Crazy person? The article made perfect sense to me. Did you even read it?
Just a note on the video game violence debate. Shooting a gun and pressing a button on a gamepad are two entirely different actions. Playing Counter-Strike hasn't trained me to kill people any more than Galactic Civilizations II has trained me to conquer the galaxy. Other things I can't do well: Surgery (despite having played Trauma Center), throw a football (Madden), slay dragons (WoW). Also, I've never saved any princess or defeated any evil masterminds of any sort. I can
Edit: Okay I found the mission briefings. The only problem now is that I don't know what order they should be in.
*bump* Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
