If I understand it right, you could do without Steam, but you need Steamworks for the feature you want implemented for multiplayer. But you cannot have Steamworks without Steam so in fact your are sticking with Steam and the game will require it for anything. Actually I don't mind third party games but I expect all Stardock games to be available through SDC. At this time only part of them are. I can download Demigod, but then I need Impulse to download the dlc. I see elemental and gal civ 1 but I can't download GalCiv2 (which I could with the old SDC) and Sins of a Solar Empire also ask me to use Impulse. I'm really interested about that. Impulse was a failure. It still is. It was abadoned a lot earlier before it was sold, although the start was very promising. Gamers Bills of Right was marketing and never been applied. I thought that at least for stardock title that was true, but now I see they are released on Steam. But at least SDC is coming back (refreshed) and I like the Stardock of these old days, that do its job, create good software and games and give a simp

It's the game's problem. However for me SC2 was a disappoinment for the game itself, expecially the half backed, plain and uninspired single player.
