So I go to wiki and still don't have all the information I need for population. From wiki: Maximum Population (in billions) = 0.02 * ( ( PQ + 1 ) ^ 3 ) w/ PQ = Planet Quality PQ = 8 -> Max Pop = 14.58 B OK, thats not a problem. Unless you move people to the colony, this is the max population. Population Growth = CurrentMorale X Government Level X PlanetQuality Factor X GrowthFactor. Current Morale in what units? (% ?) Gove

Think it was in some of the Journals, but I read this will be changed with 1.2, so starbases will take effect on every tile their circle touches ... Do you mean individual planet tiles on the surface? If so, how will you know that?

The constructor needs to have a more visible circle of influence. I agree. Why not have the constructor highlight just like the starbase itself does. I never have a problem with that. In fact, the circle created by the contructor is slightly smaller than the one by the starbase so you also have to be careful there.

I was curious about that as well since moving people between colonies in order to maximize population and therefore taxes is dependant on how this works.

I am going by memory but I am pretty sure they were at least "warm" to me. We had been trading for some time but they had simply not researched alliances yet. I will go back and look but I thought if alliances were available, it showed up but they just might not take you up on it if you offered.

Shuttling people around helps immensely. Try and get every colony to at least 1 billion pop as soon as possible. Just doing this much will improve most players games by 20% if they aren't doing this now. Doing this will increase the overall population and give a player a much larger tax base. I have heard this statement before and there are a f

I am sure there is something I am overlooking here but I had a case where I wanted to have an alliance with a race that did not have the tech yet so I gave it to them. I still could not do it. It would not even show up on the list.

For what it's worth, a license for software is a contract between the purchaser and the software company (or a company the software company has contracted in one way or another to "sell" its product), so unless the contract (EULA) explicitly states that the license is transferrable, it isn't. Thats not correct. It is transferable unless it is

I really like his books as well. My favorite is probably In Death Ground but I like almost all of his works of Honor and Starfire.

Its funny to read all of these posts that denigrate Microsoft while many of you have probably supported other software with similar problems just because you liked it. GalCiv2 for example has had some problems and when someone complains, I have seen many of you say its because of all the different kinds of hardware you have to live with in the PC world. Think of the issues Microsoft has to deal with and the hardware universe they are fighting. Programming in many cases fails when the programm

When everyone says there needs to be more diplomacy on GalCiv2, I think of dickering. I think there needs to be more going back and forth rather than, how about this deal and a yes or no. Maybe a if you won't do this, then how about... You also need the ability to say, stop doing that or else.

Colony ships...When I pull up the Planet Screen to see the Unowned Planets, if I click on one to move the screen to it, might it be possible not to de-select my colony ship? I hate having to click the find button a few times until I find my colony ship again. I second, third, and fourth this suggestion.

I tend to agree with your points but it seems to happen more than would be indicated by them (except for the stupid one). The reason I bring this up is due to the disussion on different races should like different planets. It almost looks like it might do some form of that.

Has anyone noticed that the highlighted circle that gives the effective area for a starbase if it were built in that position is different than the size it is after the starbase is built? The constructor's area is slightly smaller than the starbase is. I have seen this multiple times but have not confirmed if it is all the time.
