As I watch the actions of a ship doing an auto explore, it sure looks like it is not being very efficient. It goes over areas already explored, does not utilize the entire size of its sensor range, goes to further away areas while passing near areas that have not been explored as well of other not so efficient things. It sure would be nice if it would have a couple of search patterns that are efficient and explores the most space in the least time.

What I have found is that the save will occur but it takes forever (13 mins on my machine). After that first save, the saves are as they were in previous versions. I am not sure if this affects you every time you load or only for the first time after the game is created.

The only problem with it just going through all the lesser factories at build time is that it still takes too long in some cases. If I have a new colony later in the game and have higher techs for manufacturing, it might take 50 weeks to build the first factory. If it goes through all the lesser factories, it might be some faster but it still might take say 30 weeks. I would like to get the lower factories sometimes just so I can get other things built a little quicker but I don't really need

What I have found is that starting with V 1.1, the save times are dramatically longer the first time in a game especially for larger universes. One I timed was over 13 mins. But every save after that first one is reasonably short similar to previous versions. The load time is still really long which I don't understand but I can live with that if necessary. I am hoping it is only the very first save not any first save after any load but I need to confirm.

Ok, it looks like even a gigantic universe will eventually save. It took 13 min 22 secs after only 2 turns. I know you are looking at this but it sure would be nice to have it fixed as I now have to disable autosave and a crash will effectively end most games (bummer). Also, a small universe saves much faster as you would expect but it still takes over a minute.

Another possibility I thought of is to have some type of governor type thing that will allow you say keep building the next X constructors and send each one to this location unless I tell you otherwise.

I left it for at least 10 minutes but I will attempt again on both a smaller galaxy as well as leaving for a lot longer to see if it makes a difference. By the way, here is the last line in the debug.err file. I noticed in another thread that someone else with the same problem had the same last line. I can post the whole file if needed. Debug Message: Waiting for hidden surface creation to complete before saving planets.

Boy I just see a different world then. Look at the number of posts with different names. Unless there are a tiny number of people that create a lot of names, you are simply missing the issue. In any case, its funny you mention repecting others opinions as my point is exactly that. All I see is someone complaining (his opinion) and people flaming them because of it. My whole complaint is that there are issues and these people deserve to be heard not jumped on because they say they are having

I also have this problem except that I cannot save at all. AutoSave or manual save both lock up the system. I have to reboot everytime. The galaxy is gigantic with three races but I can play only two turns and try to save manually and I get a lock up. I have virtual memory set to 768-1536 on C: and 768-4096 on H:. Adding H: has improved speed of gameplay but has done nothing on the save issue. I am using V 1.1 and this problem did not happen in previous versions (1.0.X.2 I think). I need

I have always been partial to research. I tend to be a technologist and add research bonuses on top. While I know that money is a big part, I usually try to get my population up to get the tax revenue high enough to balance the money out. If I start running a deficit, I just start concentrating on population growth and revenue through trade and economic centers.

While I agree to some extent, I would say that it would be better to fix it another way. I think there should be the ability to create a factory on the starbase itself that would allow the manufacturing of these items. As with anything, it should not be too easy to create the huge monstrosity but I do not enjoy the hassle of constructors either.

Go to any forum for any game and you will have a population of people screaming that the game in question is buggy or crappy or whatever. The difference is that Stardock's developers activley interact with us and try to quickly address what people are saying. Some people will never be satisfied. The facts are pretty simple. This is a game whose 1.0 v

There should be a serial number on the disc cover (28 alphanumerics on mine). It does not start with GC2, that is the collectors edition serial and will not work. Use the email you originally signed up with and the serial from the disc case and you can do it in multiple places. I am not advocating piracy, just that you can have more than one install. I have it on my laptop and desktop.

I have been reading through these posts with a lot of interest as I can see both sides of the issue. On the Stardock side, I will agree that I have rarely seen access to the extent that they have given. I have sent and received a reply to an email directly to Brad which I can say somewhat surprised me. They are certainly working to improve and stablize the game from everything I am seeing and do not just hide and rake in the money from the original release as they could if they wanted. <

I have never understood how people can read what they want into things, but such is life. My post is only intended to say that a consumer should get what he pays for and not be bashed because he demands it. In this case, I am not complaining about the state of the game nor of the support received after purchase. I am saying that a consumer has the right to say that his/her purchase is not up to their expectations. The quote I referred to basically

You know, they aren't a purely game company. They have other things to do, like keepsafe which is the reason it was delayed. They do not have to do anything for you, they chose to update free out of their own kindness. They don't abandon games, they charge nothing for bug fixes or extra features, yet you, you whiny little ingrate

Am I the only one that dislikes the way planet invasions work? First off, a military starbase at or near a planet does nothing to stop an invasion unless you have ships there. I do not understand why a military starbase cannot stop a transport from dropping troops without the help of a ship. One would think that the first line of defense of a planet would be a starbase. Second, the "rolling the dice" part of invasions seems to be poor way to create
