If Terror Stars are eventually added, all I ask is that they can be disabled so that no one can build them--myself included. (I *really* hate superweapons!)

Very cool, Brad! Good to see that the Drengin are catching up....sort of. So were my eyes deceiving me, or did the Drengin actually have a Frigate or two in that final battle? And if so, was that the result of further tweaking/bug-fixing on your part? I just ask because in none of your previous wars (that you've posted anyway) did the Drengin build anything large than Heavy fighters. Great post-battle report either way,
Personally, I really hate "superweapons" of any sort in strategy games. If Terror Stars are added in an expansion (or update, or whatever), then I hope we can at least disable them so that they can't be built by anyone (including myself).
Check out Tycho's blurb in today's rantings. He talks a little bit about Brad's journal entries, and his recent Drengin-Human Wars post in particular. He clearly has a lot of respect for what Brad is doing here.
I'm just spreading rumors. According to the terms of the closed gamma test, I can neither confirm nor deny that the moons in GalCiv 2 are, in fact, gigantic Dreadlord testicles. Very sorry. LOL. No worries. I didn't realize you even had the gamma build. (I think I read somewhere that not all Diplomats had access to it, so I wouldn't have as
I heard that the Dreadlords used to be HUGE. Their bodies were as large as a PLANET! Some Dreadlords were castrated in an ancient RITUAL! The moons were their TESTICLES! ..... [Martok finally gets up off the floor after laughing] Good grief ProudCanadian, you have to warn a guy when you're gonna post stuff like that!
I did not expect the Drengin alignment crossover one bit, Second of all...Are you sure that space bird eggs covered in a light gravy is the most appropriate image for a massive cultural realignment? LOL!! Yeah, I was wondering what that was myself....
I saw a comment by someone that the planets with moons would be more likely to have bonus resources. I thought I read that somewhere on here as well. Besides which, I've gotten the impression that anything on the main galactic map is there for a reason, and not just for show.
Nice, Brad! Good thing you caught the fact that the Drengin didn't know they should be defending more than just their homeworld.
I second Mike C. I'd love to read an AAR of your more recents tests! My ideal difficulty level is where I sometimes win and sometimes lose. I agree with this as well. I like difficulty levels where my chances of winning are probably somewhere in the 50-70% range. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=
OMG No cheese... I can't believe this game doesn't have any rare or pedigree cheeses in it. I thought it did, but after beta testing I haven't found any. Not even a single reference to Biere. I'm so Old Gold Bitter now. LOL!! Rogerano, you are an odd, demented man....and a very funny one too. Cheers! <img src="smiles/Smile.gif"
I admit I like the idea of multiplayer being added in an expansion, but the fact that it's being exluded from the original game is definitely *not* going to ruin GalCiv 2 for me. I would certainly like to see multiplayer added eventually, sure. Before that happens, however, I have a feeling the good folks at Stardock are *first* going make sure that the single-player mode is as solid and as fun as is reasonably possible--which is how it should be. <img src="smiles/BigSmile.gif" border=0 ALIG
But as it is now, if you are the humans, you send scout craft to all star dots (and after Stellar Cartagraphy, world dots). If you are an alien, you just send your scouts to world dots. Actually, Star Pilot, I believe the other races now start on the same level as the humans in terms of knowledge of the other stars/planets. Here is the relaven
Just quick question for anyone who's played the beta: Can you see where other races' ships are going (assuming they're in your sensor range, of course)? One thing that has bothered me with some space 4x games--Birth of the Federation being one of the more notorious examples I can think of--is that you often have almost now clue as to where a neutral/enemy fleet is headed. It seems like I've played too many games where you can't tell if your enemy is sending that big fleet to conquer a particu
Not in 1.0, but perhaps the bonus pack will have a Dreadlords random event where they appear, or actually have them as one of the selectable races (though that would take more work) It wouldn't bother me if I couldn't play as them, since what little I've gleaned about the Dreadlords indicates they would be awfully overpowered (and therefore it'
Will we see the Dreadlords appear in the normal sandbox game? Hey, that's a good question. I hadn't even thought to ask that until you brought it up. Can anyone answer this?
After release much becomes possible. But for the initial release, exploitation concerns have to take precedence. Hey, totally understandable. I'm just glad you guys are so good at adding new stuff, and not *just* fixing bugs. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center
Like the OP i would like to be able to explicity say "listen pal... I know we're good mates but surely you've noticed a heap of my frieghters visiting those minor race planets you're systematically exterminating? How about you stop doing that? If you don't I'm just going to set this phasor here to 'kill', mmmkay?" This sort of bullying would naturally mean the relationship
LOL. Yea, Draginol is the account I use on most forums. It's my personal account. Well, I feel foolish now. Although I thought it somewhat odd that Draginol and Frogboy both talked about having founded Stardock, I'd never actually quite put it together that both persona belonged to Brad.
The team has been putting in 12 to 14 hour days now since we got back from Christmas break. We've got another two weeks to go before we have to wrap it up and send it to manufacturing so that we're at stores on February 25th. Ugh, ugh, ugh. You definitely have my sympathies, Dragi
Becouse it's TURN based, not real time. And it would be impossible to calculate who destroyed whom first and the destroyed ship shouldn't fire at all... Actually (and I'm sorry for comparing GalCiv to yet another strategy game), but Birth of the Federation had simultaneous turns in combat--or "phased real-time battles" as some have called it-
The attacker's ships fire first, then any remaining defenders return fire, continuing back and forth in this fashion until one side is annihilated. Hmm.... I admit that bothers me a little. I wonder why Stardock is doing it that way. Not being a programmer, I don't understand why opposing fleets couldn't fire simultaneously. Can anyone answ
I have a question about starship battles that I don't think has been specifically addressed: Do opposing ships fire at each other simultaneously, or does one side fire first? And if so, what determines which side gets to go first?
However, Galciv from the getgo has not had a tactical focus - which is unfortunate IMHO. Frogboy has some personal vendetta against tactical - but that's his call as developer. I hope in future versions of galciv that tactical starship combat gets put in. Star Ranger, did you read Frogboy's earlier post? <TABLE ce
RTW has the worst A.I diplomacy of any 4X game in memory. The A.I also has massive economy cheats and it's still lousy. After you win your 200th battle in a row without even coming close to losing, i can't really say that RTW is all that much fun really.Still, the eye candy seems to impress some folk, because RTW is just that, eye candy.
