No problem Sir Starkers. But I seem to have lost track of my point in my irritation over skinners having to put up with people whose only qualification to comment is that they can. I haven't been around here long enough to know all the reasons skinners quit. Personal, time limitations, desire, wanting to make some money on things they spend so much time on, all good reasons. My point is, what happens when the next generation gets tired of the idiots wh

Po', it's not that I don't appreciate the efforts of the newer skinners. I've downloaded a lot of their stuff. But I got really irritated when some skinners stopped because of the juvenile comments and drive by ratings. As for me I've only had the software for 9 months and not comfortable yet messing with stuff. I've only had a computor for a little over a year and since I'm getting close to 60, more than a little technophobic. Right now I'm concentrat
I am using WindowFX 2.89 beta. After a couple of days of classic title bars and and one occurrence of the title bar completely dissappearing after minumizing FF to the task bar the problem cleared up. I updated Flashgot, Clusty, and Stumble Upon yesterday and later in the day I removed the shortcut overlay on my desktop icons through Icon Packager. I mention these because they are the only things I changed. The problem went away after removing the shor
When I see how few of the really good skinners are uploading lately it is definitely time for a rethink on ratings and comments policy. The software is nice but for most of us users it is useless without the contributions of people like Boxxi. If I have to wait weeks for something exceptional it makes it a little harder to justify re-upping when my subscrition runs out. Picky seems to go hand and hand with a low boredom threshhold. Really miss finding
There aren't any. They have been requested before but I don't think it will happen. I use Speedfan and the guy who developed it said that many of the motherboard manufactures will not release the specs on their proprietary units. This makes it hard if not impossible to make a universal CPU monitor. Any widget made could only be guaranteed to work with motherboard on the makers computor. I can't see anybody taking weeks or months to research and make on
I've got a different thing with Firefox. Sometime in the last couple of days, since I downloaded the latest WindowFX, when I bring up Firefox the title bar is skinned with Windows Classic. It started out white or grayish, now it comes up Classic only colored black. Using Stealth OS, WB5. If I click on the maximize button twice it cycles through two versions ubtil the proper title bar skin shows up. Not a big problem, just kind of weird.
I turned off the window animations and that does clear up the problem. Now if someone has figured out System Settings that would be cool. More updates please. Updates are almost as good as a great looking skin. I was getting all twitchy waiting for Neal and the gang to get caught up. Nice to have WindowFX back.
I have a NVidia GeForce 5500. I changed from ATI because supposedly NVidia supports Open GL better and I have a couple of programs that use it. Can't have one that does everything I guess.
What kind of card do you have aimzzz? Mine supports per-pixel alpha blending and constant alpha blending acceleration according to the performance advice and WindowFX is fully supported by the drivers.
Works ok with non perpixal skins.
When I have the new version of Windows FX loaded and bring up the configuration window for Cursor XP this is what happens to it.
Same here.
Back home from work. The shadows and window dragging work on non-per pixel skins but not on WB 5 skins. Downloaded twenty minutes before I had to go to work and didn't have time to mess with it. The menu transitions sort of work on WB 5 skins, they pop-up as they did before but use the transition to disappear. I'm trying task bar transparency and window dragging transparency from NVidia and so far it's working. All in all, pretty neat. Upda
Just downloaded but can't seem to get the window dragging effects to work. Using 81.94 drivers on NVidia GeForce 5500.
Patriots, here's the Clusty link if you haven't found it already. http://clusty.com/toolbar
I just tried it with clusty and it worked. Didn't give any incompatability warnings when I downloaded it.
Brad or Neal might have to post a sticky about people posting Windowblinds bugs with IE7. There have been a few posts since it went public and I'm sure the last thing they are interested in is chasing their tail with something that is still beta and bound to change at a moments notice. I think Neal said as much in a post a while back, can't find it though.
Here's a nice little program for your kids or your inner child that still doesn't know what he or she is looking at when you go outside at night. Shows a horizon to horizon view from anywhere on Earth and also zooms in to show you what the view would be like from a small telescope. One small bug, the cursor is about half an inch off when you click on something, but once you figure out the offset no problems. Might be due to fact that it's set up for 10
Thanks for the Clusty link. Nice!
My first job was as an usher in a movie theater. Pay sucked but we got to see all the movies for free. Night of the Living Dead had just came out and some of us were sitting in the balcony. Two of the concession girls were sitting in front of us and just as the zombie hand came through the window I reached out and put my hand on one of the girls shoulder. She screamed and shot straight up. Never did talk to me after that. It was the only time in my lif
Another place is Purplus. They have older version graphic programs at very good prices. Some in retail boxes, some just a CD and a key, and some surplus OEM. I purchased an older version Carrara Studio for 50$. They have PSP 8 for 14.95$, as another example. It took about ten days to get my purchase by mail. Link
I just downloaded Maya also, 24 minutes on my brand new upgrade from dial-up, 1.5 DSL. All kinds of new opportunities have opened up for me on the internet. 10 hour download on dial-up. So far Maya is working for me even though I don't have XP Pro and the other hardware requirements. Fingers crossed it will keep working. Thanks for the link.
I just picked up Carrara 3 at Purplus for 50$. They have Carrara 4 for about 120$. They have some good deals on older version graphic programs. Some in retail boxes, some OEM, and some just a CD and registration number. Link I figure 50 bucks is a good price for learning. It comes with Amapi 3D version 5 also. Took about 10 days for it to arrive in the mail.
I've used only two cards. ATI 9200, barely adequate, and a BFG NVidia 5500, reasonable. I only have PCI so my choices are limited. If it makes a difference BFG has a lifetime replacement, no questions asked policy.
