Sorry to hear of your loss, Jim, my condolences to you and your family.
Unfortunately, many of we men do not take proper care of ourselves. I am guilty of that myself, in that I don't always eat the healthiest things; do not get enough exercise; often putting off going to my doctor and other health professionals. I mean, if I'm really sick I'll go to the doctor, also to get my scripts renewed, but I don't always go for minor ailments that I can either tolerate or manage myself at home.... I just don't wanna be seen as a hypocondriac cos I'm visiting my doctor [almost] on a daily basis for every pain and malady I may suffer.
I am also a diabetic, but I never fail to take my meds for that, blood pressure and cholesterol... not to mention the ones for vertigo, chronic pain and depression. It adds up to quite a few pills per day... and it would be more if I took pain killers every time I felt an ache or pain. Nah, I'm tougher than that, and most often I'll ride it out, unless of course it gets too severe.
Yup, with the daily pills I take for this and that, if I jumped up and down I'd rattle.
One good thing I did for my health was to quit smoking. It'll be ten years on January 15th, being the night before since I last smoked.
