Compatibility issue with an app?

Compatibility issue with an app?

Please let us know

If you have compatibility issues with WindowBlinds and an application or game, please do let us know in this thread so we can investigate it and hopefully resolve the problem.

Please make sure you are running the latest version of WindowBlinds first and that the problem exists with a theme included with WindowBlinds vs a downloaded one.

Please provide as much detail as you can, screenshots of the problem, information on the application itself, how to reproduce the problem and if possible dmp files from any crashes.

The information on the about WindowBlinds page and information on your setup would be helpful too.

Thanks. The other recurring issue I have with more than one these is the Quick Access on the left of the File Explorer:

As you can see it does not always rendering everything in that area.

Hello,

Please add an option to remove skining on a full folder. In this case C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\

All apps from MS Store use custom skining that will not work with skin (whatsapp, screenshot, etc)

Also, the folder is by default protected, so you cant easily add exclude files.

Also, This apps tend to change name on every release (example =

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.ScreenSketch_10.1907.2471.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

Info:

WindowBlinds 10.84 (059 - Windows 10 Edition) - 64 bit OS

Microsoft Windows [Versión 10.0.18363.778]

Thanks

Generally Windowblinds will ignore those apps from there which it cannot skin.  Not all apps on the store use custom looks and even those that do often can be skinned on the title bar.

What store app is causing a problem and what is the issue?

...I have this software app called Revo Uninstaller Pro version 4.3.1 when I open it up it vibrates when it opened and starts blinking...
I can't recreate this in the free version but it is one of those (very few) apps for which some of the text cannot be seen because it is rendered the same colour as the background. Other victims that suffer with this problem include (list will be updated when I remember more):

  1. Backup and sync from Google (alert pop-ups and options).

I know there is an option in WB's settings to "Apply accent colour to backgrounds" but I've always noticed this checkbox has been a bug since as long as I can remember, and we're talking years now. No matter if it's checked or not it always turns off but still seems to apply the colour anyway. That said, I have noticed that it does render BiglyBT differently depending on if that box is ticked or not. No other apps that also render differently spring to mind. WB is such an all-embracing app it must be very hard to ensure everything is supported.

For example, the attached image, shows the default windows 10 Clipping and annotation(don't know exact english name), which draws windows blinds border, and over it will draw its ugly plain border. You can see about 4px on the left of the image.

Why does the Corporate skin ALWAYS maximize the app over the task bar? Can I stop this? Most annoying. And why does it not show the caption in the title bar?

Another app with problems, is the very common "discord"

It installs in a variable directory:

"C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Discord\app-0.0.306\Discord.exe"

So manually excluding it is useless, as path will change on the next release.

Stardock: people are demanding for an "exclude all except whitelist" option. Please listen to your customers

Exclusions do not use the path so this is not an issue.  An exclusion on discord.exe would work regardless of install directory.

No, not seeing it. Any specific WB skins?

This might be a general problem as the glitches are so severe. I had an ongoing issue that only went away once I had switched to default Windows skin, unloaded WindowBlinds from the notification area icon, rebooted and loaded a WB skin again.

Basj,

As you can see in the sample, i tested it on 3 different skins...

Hello raul24,

I have tested on my system on some of those skins and I don't see what you are having. Here what I get for Acrylic 7

Please try the purge and reinstall steps. Use this link for it : https://forums.stardock.com/486023/windowblinds-support-faq#reinstalling

Just to make sure try downloading the latest version from your account, reboot after the purge, reinstall using the new one and reboot again and retest.

Thank you,

Purging is a huge pain in the rear. I may be butting in but try my suggestion first, maybe? Might save you some time.

I have an issue that WB somehow doesn't skin the taskbar, but still skins tabs of open programs.

I've disabled customized taskbar in Classic shell settings, but WB still dosen't skin the taskbar.

Every time i log into my pc the customized taskbar appears but then dissapears when rest of the desktop starts loading.
It's very weird behaviour.

Here's how it goes every time i turn on my pc:

1. wallpaper loads, customiz taskbar loads, default/Win10 start buttton apeears with no/transparent background

2. taskbar dissapears, default start button dissapears

3. classic shells loads, customized taskbar gets replaced by windows default

4. icons and other stuff on the desktop loads

This is an issue with how Classic Shell works.  Whilst you may have disabled the option in Classic shell to theme the taskbar, not everything in the app is disabled and this is blocking WindowBlinds from working correctly.

This is not a problem with our own Start menu product called Start10.

It is also not a problem with Stardock Curtains when used with Classic Shell as we developed a workaround for that.

Start10 has an option for the Windows 7 look which is similar to how it was in XP. However, Start10 also lets you use skins that were made during the XP era so if you use one of them it will look more like how it did for that OS. I was dismissive of this app initially as I quite like the Metro Start Menu (and did in Windows 8 too :O ) but when I found out I could make my new(ish) computer look even more 90s/2000s than it already was I installed it straight away and haven't looked back. Can't fault it; I still have the Metro one if I want plus Start10 opens faster than it. It's part of the Object Desktop suite. Can I get a job in sales at Stardock now? ;)

While I'm here, another app to add to the list- PDFLite. While it opens and works fine, WindowBlinds doesn't like its tabs and obscures where they should be.

Actually, you can add Word 2016 (and possibly the rest of the modern Microsoft Office apps too?) too for not bringing dialogue windows to the front unless you alt-tab off and back again, but then that might just only be for me.

P.S. Thanks to whoever fixed the forums in Firefox / whichever add-on was breaking stuff.
