Hi,

My name is Bruno and I have been a long fan of Star Control.

I am amazed that I've only just discovered this new version. I believe that Stardock should be doing a better job at getting the word out.

Anyway, here I am, ready to participate in the community.

Cheers,

Bruno

Hello All,

My name is Chris and Starcontrol II has been the single greatest gaming experience of my childhood.  It shaped my view on science and opened a gateway for me to the world of Sci-fi, forward thinking, and the concept that videogames can be works of literary art.

While many have tried, no one has been able to capture the magic and mystery of Starcontrol II.  The closest attempt was Bioware's Mass Effect series -which was almost a rehash of some of the major story points that occurred in Starcontrol II (e.g. Protheans - Precursors, Reapers - Eternal Ones).

To keep the spirit of Starcontrol II alive, I've created my own tabletop RPG system based on the concepts of Starcontrol II called "Redshift."  I am heavily story and plot oriented and am looking to share some of my ideas to help Starcontrol II be a worthy successor to a timeless classic.  I commend the hardworking developers at Stardock for undertaking the challenge of trying to continue in the footsteps of the greatest game of all time.  You have my full and undivided support.

V/R,

Chris aka "Lord Helmos"

Hi I'm Frederic,

I'm 50 and watched the birth of pc gaming grow into a teen.

My parents bought me a Pong console and since then I have been fascinated by the constant advances in the technology.

I love my Sci Fi and I which I could live for 100's of years. There's so much to learn from our Universe and I kind of feel ripped off in our life time we'll not know a lot more and be left with so much unanswered.

I really hope with the years I have left I at least see man land on Mars.

I look forward to reading everyones positive posts.

Oh and I'm left handed so don't fail me on remapping :) "Make it So"

Cheers

Volkira

Hello all, my name is Garrett.  I started playing in the early 90's, and every couple years would fire it up again.  I still have the original 3.5" floppy disks.  :)   I was overyjoyed when the HD remaster made the interface on my computer so much better.  I pre ordered yesterday, as a lifetime Founder, and am really looking forward to this.  I'm not trying to think about it too much or use SC2 as a benchmark.  Just want to be able to enjoy the game and a good bit of nostalgia.  Cheers and Happy New Year all!

Hello,

Longtime fan of Starcontrol and decided to give myself a late Christmas present and join the the founder's program.  I look forward to looking over the previous dev blogs and getting caught up on the development diary's.

I was 12 when Starcontrol 2 came out and it changed the way I looked at narrative computer games, and I lived through the disappointment that was Starcontrol 3.  I hope that these new Meta-verses will be as enjoyable as SC2 was.

Hey my names Christian. I'm from little Denmark.

Bumped into Star Control 2 and The Ur-Quan Masters maybe 10 years ago.

I played it, I loved it and I forgot about it.. sorry.... that is until, well right about now.

And what a great surprise, some one's making a pretty version of the game:)

Really looking forward to playing it once again!!!

I'm Nick (go figure), a developer/designer from the land down-under (Australia). Like most of you, SC was a childhood favourite of mine and I wasted plenty of time bumping shoulders on a shared keyboard while challenging my friends.

I'm rather curious to see what comes out of all this and have been doing my best to keep up to date with all the developer updates.

Hi all, Vil here.  Been a fan of SC since it came out on Sega Genesis.  Then got 2 for PC and eventually 3.  I spent countless hours on the last two games.  I still play sc2 time to time.  Also been a fan of Starrock games since GalCiv.  So im hoping for the best for this game.  And this is the only time Ive been excited for a reboot.  It works well with SC.

Hola , Joe been a star control fan since the first game :) never been a game before or since that I have loved more . in fact playing ur quan masters for the 3rd time out of pure nostalgia and anticipation for this Reboot. best part of a reboot it doesnt mess with the original storylines ..

Hi guys!

Peter here, from Bulgaria, 33 years old. Had many wonderful moments with SC2, certainly one of my favorite games. Completed it numerous times and explored all that is there to be explored. I would love to get involved in in beta testing or anything that would help this game reach the predecessor's glory!

Game-wise I am currently playing mainly Dota 2, Stellaris, Factorio and some other multiplayer coop games with friends. IRL-wise I am working in an electronics manufacturing facility.

Thought I'd stop in and say howdy to everybody. Even though I bought in when the founders program was launched, I didn't stop by the forum to say hi and introduce myself.  Sorry about that.  Anyway, here now and getting excited to see whats going on with the game.

Hello everyone, Slagathor666 is my usual handle as it's almost never taken and I like the sound of "Slagathor". Star control 2 was one of my first games I played growing up, still enjoy revisiting it every so often as I love the depth of storytelling it had.

Really hope to see this game succeed, wanted to say hi.

Hi all, I'm Martin, been a founder since Oct but just found the forum. I'm 40 from the US. Been a huge fan of Star Control 1 and 2 since I was a kid (3=meh). I've been hoping for a new Star Control for ages! Really looking forward to this game and hope it does well so we can see more sequals :)

Hi, Konstantin here, 38. I still remember playing SC2 on my new 386DX at 40MHz back in the early 90s in turbo mode and all the sleepless nights. Still play the HD version at least once a year. Excited for the new, alternate SC universe.

Hi my name is Jaco.

Like most people, or for me at least, Star Control II was the greatest game I played as a child, I got hooked and still am! I hope to experience it all over again with this one.

Hi,

I've already enjoyed the Ashes of the Singularity Founders program. Looking very much forward to test Star Control, will bring back some good memories I think. |-)

I'm new here, loved all the starcons in the past. I'm not sure where to start here, or even download things. Not sure if i can link anything up to steam after i purchased the founders edition here. Any direction would be great as far as downloads/features/places to comment & involvement because i would love to be involved anyway on this great opportunity here!

As of today I'm a noob - we will just have to wait until tomorrow so that i can clear everything in this galaxy up, and rule. The Ur-Quan will learn to fear my wrath.

HI,

I'm Martijn van der Kooij and I just became a founder. I did not play the original game, but am interested in the creation process. And it looks like a game I would like to play. Other games I play are Total Annihilation/Sup Com and Elite Dangerous, but The Mass Effect series is also great.

As full time software developer it is interesting to see the trouble of fellow developers :-) The software I develop for a living is for dairy farms.

There is also my hobby project Picto-Selector which is fun to do and you can read more about it here or take a look at my website www.pictoselector.eu

Oh and my birth year is 1972, almost the same year as Brad :-)

Hello everyone,  My name is Joseph Stover and i'm 29.  I'm a server administrator for the Air Force and have zero experience in game design or graphics.   I was introduced to computers very early and started playing Star Control II on a demo collection disc in 1994.  That game has implemented itself into my brain and I still think about it all these years later and randomly every year or so i'd look and see if there had been a relaunch, and to my utmost surprise yesterday I found this!!  I'm very excited for the launch and will probably go replay 1 and 2 again.  I look forward to this project, and even though I don't get to play games anywhere near as much as I used to, I'm def. going to make time for this, even if i have to wait for kids and wife to go to bed :).  I look forward to sharing in your guy's excitement as this game comes more to more to life. I wish I could contribute more to the project, but I think everyone will just have to settle for my enthusiasm :)
