Complete List of Errors Posted for Beta 6 Patch 1 [0.95.5.0] (& older) *EOL*

Because of the game release of next week and the constant updates to the game over the next week to get it ready this post will not be updated going forward.

I would like to thank everyone for the appreciation they gave me for keeping this post up to date.  Fortunately the game is being released next week, so in attempts to minimize the appearance of a buggy game I will no longer be keeping this post up to date.

 With this being said, I would love to continue contributing any way I can to benefit this game and anything else I can help with.

 

Reported Issues for Beta 6 Patch 1 (0.95.5.0) and older, please note on older linked errors if it is still present in Beta 6 Patch 1.

Also please note which version on any new bug post issues.

Here is a complete list of issues that already have forum topics, Please add to these topics as they exist already or follow the requested steps to create a support ticket or attempt a solution.  (Note there are some general complaints in some of these posts that have been left out as they may or may not be bugs)

Note Raynman has suggested Support tickets on several of these posts.  Support tickets can be done as follows

If you are having issues with crashes to desktop, please adjust settings (resolution, map sizes, anti-aliasing)  See picture at bottom of post.  Then note in support tickets what steps were taken, example didn't crash at these settings but, crashed using these settings.

Stardock has asked that we please respond with exactly what is happening; exact steps on how to reproduce the issue; map size and at what point in the game it occurs. Please also supply any screenshots \ video clips that may help illustrate the issue. Jing is a free app for that can be used for this:

For support where examining saves is required, names of ships, planets and starbases, etc, are extremely helpful in their attempts to reproduce the issue.

    1. Random game freeze on pirate attack auto resolve.

  2. Saved Game Issues.
    1. Saved game files sometimes save with a ~ when pressing enter instead of clicking save causes that game to be corrupt.  This also happens if you don't click on the name of the file that you would like to save over (duplicate save) or don't rename the auto populated name (from previous save causing duplicate save.)
    2. Reloading saved game will sometimes not reveal explored space just planets and stars.
  3. Ideology Issues.
    1. Pragmatic Trade License still not giving extra trade route.  [Possible fix Beta 5 Patch 3]
  4. Combat Viewer Issues.
    1. Displayed several ships being destroyed, however, after battle they were still alive.

  8. General Building Issues.
    1. Missionary Center bonus is too high.
  9. Shipyard/Starbase Issues.
    1. Shipyard will allow more than 5 sponsors if a planet is colonized with in range to auto sponsor even if already at 5.
    2. Requested constructors don't auto move to bottom of list as described in the past.
    3. Not showing the distance decay, displaying as 0% but is being affected.
    4. Star base defense model stats not updating.  [Per Derek Paxton this is working as designed Reply #4 that post]
    5. Purchasing ships, cost the same if partially completed or not (at least according to the option.)
    6. Star base received via trade no longer gives resources/mining resources if original race is conquered.
  10. Ship Designer Issues.
    1. Stray lines around rotational details.
    2. Functional components mixed with non-functional.
    3. Ships become available that have more points than have been researched.
    4. Unlocking all ship parts will cause lagging.
  11. Technology Issues.
  12. Custom Race Issues.
    1. Personality -> Character traits is cut off when designing is cut off in the bottom.  [Possible fix Beta 5 Patch 3]
    2. Random Terran "New Race" appearing on faction list, however, no race exists.
  13. General typo's.
  14. Multi-player Issues.
    1. No colonization ideology events in multi-player.
    2. Both players able to see pirate events of the other players.  [Possible fix Beta 5 Patch 3]
    3. Upon loading saved game, 2nd player able to see 1st players explored space, 2nd players explored space now unexplored.
    4. Game will hang during AI's turns.
    5. No way to close chat window once text is in the box.
    6. You can modify your planet build que, however, it will not update until it's your turn.

    1. Diplomacy screen tries to adjust real time for new races discovered by the exploration treaty.
    2. Game starts lagging horribly, with 2-3 minutes between turns when accepting multiple exploration treaties.
    3. Credit amount to balance out trade may need to be adjusted several times to resolve trade offer.
  16. General sound issues.
    1. Sound gets cracky on diplomatic screen.
  17. United Planets Issues (resolutions/voting).

    1. Trade resource for +5 population growth per planet doesn't appear to be working.

    1. Ships hidden underneath rally points.
    2. Tool tip incorrect for Extreme colonization.

    4. Mini-map giving away other races territory before discovered by changing the color of the stars.

    9. Race description will sometimes appear in the upper left corner of screen when, starting the game.
    10. Rapid zooming in and out of map causes intense freezing.
    11. Custom race colors are not showing up upon reload.
    12. Earth's moon is the only moon that orbits.

    1. The goven screen doesn't update completed buildings until one exits and returns.

  5. Race Specific Issues.
    1. Thalan based races (custom or Thalan) start with class 15 not 16 planet.
    2. Thalan stock medium ships not unlocking with medium ship tech (unlocks after researching several more techs).
    3. Yor have a planet labeled as class 1 (Dead).
    4. Terran rush build trait doesn't work if you cancel the first building you place on same turn.
    5. Several Iridium buildings do not provide adjacency bonus/do nothing.
  6. Map Generation Issues.
    1. Abundant stars appears low again.
  7. General Ship Issues.
    1. Survey ship now only has armor defense with the change (may need to add point/beam defense or eliminate armor).
    2. Govern ship commands don't always work.
    3. Ships can travel outside of range if quickest path to target destination brings them there.
    4. Un-selected ships in a stack tend to move versus the selected ones.
    5. Ships react to pirates when on sentry but not guard.
  8. General Building Issues.
    1. Free Market gives no adjacency bonus and upgrades to nothing. (Iridium Tree)
  9. Shipyard/Star Base Issues.
    1. Repeat build does not auto-update to latest model.  (most of the time.)
    2. Researched weapons doesn't show up until researching base model tech.
    3. Multiple generic ships showing on list with no make markers.

    3. Ships disappear if following certain path in ship designer.
  11. Technology Issues.
    1. Purchased tech doesn't appear in tech list until base tech is researched.
    2. Technology screen doesn't default to last group/tech research selected.
    3. Finishing tech tree, stops game from progressing no, way to continue without researching.
  12. Custom Race Issues.
    1. Paranoid racial ability prevents AI invasions as they don't know how to defeat them.
    2. Intuitive racial ability appears to not always give free techs.
  13. General Typo's.
    1. When someone surrenders to you get's message "Programmer: *we give up all our assets to you*" appears to be text print issue.
    2. Yor survey ship listed as "Investiator" instead of investigator.
    3. Research Treaty displays as Slave Brokering.
  14. Multi-player Issues.
    1. Ideology disabled for Multi-player.
    2. Turn time in Multi-player still takes long time.
  15. Diplomacy Issues.
    1. If multiple races request diplomatic contact in same turn, both pop at same time, closing one exits both.
    2. If player surrenders to you, message repeats every turn there after.
    3. Foreign trade routes show up as the players trade route.
    4. Snathi asking for an Open Borders treaty when they don't have borders.
    5. Diplomacy treaty for recurring payments does not show.
    6. When trading with minor factions, it will display a major races leaders name (Lord Kona) versus their leaders name.
  16. General Sound Issues.
    1. Sound adjustments don't always work.
    2. General game sounds cut out as game goes on.
  17. United Planet Issues.
    1. Unable to scroll through the races on the UP screen.
    2. A.I. is able to vote for other members other than the top 6 when voting for chariman.
    3. Final vote does not always show what every race voted for.
    4. When vote is denied or voted against what you choose it doesn't clearly reflect what the final vote was.
    5. Relationships show up incorrectly.
    6. Freedom of technology UP measure doesn't let anyone know what technology is being shared.
    7. Galactic Celebration event not passing even with more than 50% of the vote.
    8. Non-opt in (0.83.3.0) is allowing to vote for any race not top 6.
  18. Trade Resource Issues.
    1. Helios Ore not allowing one to design ships with the extra mass.  
    2. Trade resources when traded don't always stay with new race, sometimes will default back to original race.
  19. Display Issues.
    1. Mining Resource are white.
    2. Planet Icons disappear (appear black circles) upon loading of saved game.  [Possible fixes coming in Beta 6]
    3. Not seeing background star map on main screen.
    4. Ship stats not displaying. (possible cause by researching interstellar travel or while evading items on map.)
    5. Ship thumb nail in bottom left corner doesn't match color scheme of ships for race.
    6. Camera scrolls choppy.
    7. Colony tabs still mislabeled when checking production/research/wealth of all colonies.
    8. Screen glimmer still applying to general map on any movement.
    9. Research points not displaying correctly in bottom of tech screen.
    10. Star Base lines remain after destroyed.  [Possible fixes coming in Beta 6]
    11. Research screen doesn't always color completed techs correctly.
    12. Mini-map doesn't show all stars.
    13. Mini-map zoom does not allow one to zoom to specific location, appears to zoom to random locations instead.  [Possible fixes coming in Beta 6]
    14. Diplomacy screen will sometimes place two races on top of each other.
    15. Diplomacy screen will not be aligned if declaring war when in the diplomacy screen.
    16. Charts eventually max out and reset to 0 and then move randomly.
    17. Ships not showing firing when battling in anomalies (auto resolve).
    18. Little icons next to planet showing guarded/building/unhappy are different sizes on different planets.
    19. Graphs drop off for no reason.
    20. Ship yard auto placed over maps edge.
  20. A.I. Issues.
    1. Building Star bases half way across map to claim mining resources when closer ones available.
    2. A.I. knows where perfect planets are even deep into unexplored space.
    3. Surrender not working.
    4. Declare war and then ask for peace without making any aggressive action.  [Possible fixes coming in Beta 6]
    5. A.I. doesn't form fleets of ships.
    6. A.I. doesn't terraform.
    7. A.I. doesn't build economic star bases.
  21. Pirate Issues.
    1. Pirates have 24 kinetic attack.
    2. Pirates have high logistics cap at start of game.
    3. Surprise Pirate Attacks.
  22. Other.
    1. Game doesn't end upon exit.
    2. Edge Scrolling not working.
    3. Game pace/tech pace too fast on very slow.
    4. Game still very jumpy/choppy as game goes on.
    5. Conquering planet that was in revolt stays in revolt.
    6. Ships not being ejected on flipped planet.  [Possible fixes coming in Beta 6]
    7. Super Shark Colonization event applying 20% food penalty versus approval penalty
    8. End game culture victory seems to end when reached not 10 turns after.

Not sure if it is the same as #25, but I found that when the AI send a freighter to me it takes one of my trade routes away.  Example, I have 1 trade route available, I send a freighter to another planet.  while it is on the way, another AI lands a freighter on one of my worlds.  When my freighter arrives, I get the error that i have no more trade routes available.  I have a save game file available if needed to support a trouble ticket.

Gemle, This may be a bug as it's taking away from your trade routes, however, it may be by design as well, I will add it to the list though.  The other point it is not related to the other Trade route error, that had to do with reloading the game and the trade route disappeared.

I recall having similar problems. The AI beat me to setting up a trade route, so I couldn't set up my own trade route since I had only the one slot. I even looked through the menus and windows and found the one for trade routes. It said that I was using 0 of 1 trade licenses (or something like that), so something must be in error. I would argue that being unable to set up your own trade routes (because the AI did it) would be confusing, and would like wise make it advantageous for you to wait for the AI to set up trade routes with you (so you don't have to spend or waste resources doing so).

Seilore, great list. Here are a couple other bugs I've noticed so far.

1) Drengin went to war with me before we actually met (they were in UP, though)

2) When moving into fog of war, if you accidentally click on a planet or shipyard (that you cannot see), the movement selection will not go through.

And a possible update to #26 (which I mention in the original post as well): It seems that the production queue issue is caused by attempting to build something while a ship is moving. If you move a ship and select a planet/shipyard before it has used all its moves (or arrived at its destination), the queue won't update.

I posted elsewhere I've been having a bug with the combat viewer where the last target is not always destroyed (explosion/graphics) leaving the remaining fleet to just fly around it until you click end combat, normally with a few rogue missiles flying around the screen. I've had this against both ships and Star Bases, can add logs if helpful?

On an immense map I also had the Drengin declare war on me without any meeting.  In my case, they didn't show up in the diplomacy screen.

When you update ships using the governor, no cost is deducted.
