Can I make a recommendation? If you are going to have Windows 7 skins work in Windows 8, then they must look exactly the same in Windows 8 as they do in Windows 7. The only exceptions to this should be those areas in Windows 8 that are not skinnable at all.  If you cannot do this then you need to make SKS8 sub-style capable as SKS7 was for XP/Vista/Win7, and have WB8 apply the appropriate 7/8 OS sub-style like WB7 did.

Just my opinion.

Generally speaking they should look the same.

There are a few issues that relate to Start8 skinning, but that needs changes in how Start8 handles things, not in how WB handles them.

Also SKS8 allows you to set substyles for 7 and 8.

Duh! I didn't even see the sub-style management! OK, you can shoot me. :)

Thanks Neil!

you can shoot me.

Can't do that right now. you have to much knowledge with these programs. After you find all the bugs and Neil makes the changes we shall think about it.

i'm not saying anything about the bugs but you better believe i'm taking in the knowledge. You and others have been very helpful in making the betas better and better.

Is there a way to make navigation icons in windows explorers larger with windowblinds?

It depends on what you mean by navigation icons. If you mean the navigation arrows themselves, yes some of them can be made a little bigger by editing them and replacing them using SkinStudio, but there are limitations. There are a lot of icons used in explorer too that are not editable at all. Could you provide a screenshot or better reference to exactly which icons/images you mean?

Start menu animations don't work with Start8

What skin?

What version of WB?

Animations may be dependant on the skin:

i'm referring to the Favorites, libraries, computers, etc. icon lists in the windows explorer navigation pane.

I'm using Mechos(https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/windowblinds/7664/), WB 7.98, Start8 1.16, also the "Shutdown" text is showing even thought it's set to be invisible

Screenshot please.

I see the missing animations at the top . . what about the shutdown text?

I have a clue to give about that shutdown text.

When I make a skin, I usually create a new font in SKS, and turn down the alpha to make it invisible, and use that when I don't want the text to show there. When Jim tested my latest skin, he told me about the text showing in Windows8. I had to get creative to get rid of it.

I ave not upgraded yet to the new versions of WB and SKS.

So it seems like you have to skin the Vista buttons and not the Win7 normal button to keep the text invisible in Windows8. That could be a problem with where WB, or Start8 gets the text for that button.... not sure.

Hmmm, I usually just use a -200 (you have to type it in) left text margin Cyndie, that way it won't show up in Windows 8 either (I hope, boots to Windows 8).  :P

OK, never mind, even a -999 left text margin doesn't get rid of the text. Guess right now you cannot change anything if it deals with the Shutdown button text in Windows 8, even when using WB8 and SKS8. :S

Right, I tried that too. As of right now, you can only get rid of it in Windows 8 the way I show up top, with SKS7.

I just discovered whz the animation wasn|t working, it was because I had windowfx turned on, when I switched it off, the animation was working just fine

windows 8 64-bit

wb8 trial version

it matters not what skin i apply, the text on the right side of the Start8 start menu is black. i've rebooted 3 times and the text remains black. on dark skins, the text is near to impossible to read.

About The Shutdown text, Neil already said it´s a tweak he has to fix in Start 8

-Apparently it has nothing to do with either Windowblinds8 or Sks8.

Also Neil, and I pointed this out before, the expanded menu text on the tasks list in Windows 8 is being forced to black and cannot be changed. It should be the same color as the start menu text being used.
