Starfarers: The Lovecraft-ian faction. Scrapped because the XML didn't work out, and I couldn't get the animations to look good on the tendrils. Originally the idea was to have them as the super-dark faction that would turn all passive attacks (fire, attack, cold, lightning) into a special kind of Chaos damage (rendering all magical resistances useless). Great spellcasters, causes insanity, that kind of stuff. Inspired by the R'lyeh faction in dom3, the sovereign would have a special spell that enabled him to travel outside the physical dimension and try to recruit various horrors.

Sounds very cool... It would have been interesting to see how you handled the void. Maybe it can make a special appearance as a map site that anyone can enter at the risk of going insane or being lost to the void?

Hey, just ran into my first Angel champion, there's a typo in the Angel Blood entry as it appears on the level-up screen:

 

Also, the Angel New Faith ability trips the bug which causes a champion not to have spells if he goes first after a spell that automatically casts at the beginning of combat (sorry, I can't think of a better way to put that). Should go away whenever they get around to patching that bug, but just mentioning it for the sake of completeness.

Have been playing as a custom Tarthan sov so I could try out the backpack and the vineshield, both of which seem to be working absolutely fine - I've had a couple of pieces of bread and a mushroom pop out of the backpack so far, which seems about right for my level & needs.

The game I'm playing at the moment is interesting, with a lot going on - Reliquary items popping up all over the place (Wooden Sword, Shield of Many Fates, and I saw an AI champ carrying the hexed demon scroll around), several Stormworld champions running around, a poison river, and the Frost Giants having suddenly emerged from a slow start to being a seriously lethal-looking faction. The only bug I've spotted is that some cities seem to have invisible rivers next to them & can build docks & watermills when they shouldn't. Conversely, the mod seems to fix a possible bug in the unmodded game where the starting level quests don't seem to appear for me.

I'm off on holiday soon though and may not end up playing it through all the way. Would it help at all for you to have a game-in-progress with the stuff I have described in play, so you can see how it's being used? If so I can post it later (I want to see if I can get a few more turns in before heading off). It's Tarth v Frost Giants v Drota v Elves and is a few hours of play in.

Some of the centaurs are scaled different than the others. I think it was the riders were smaller than some of the other ones. Also, not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but Drota stables produce quite a bit of food, 25. The Drota city was up to nearly 600 population early-mid game while everyone else was doing good to be at 250.

 

I love the mod, I am doing a play through as a custom elf faction.

By the way, which magical items were missing weight? I checked out the ones from Reliquary and those who should have it, have it (armor, weapons, not cloaks except Of-The-Earth).

I am aware of centaurs getting different sizes. SD have opted to slightly randomize the size of all units which messes up some unit designs for centaurs and drota. It is barely noticeable and unfixable by me.

The Drota improvements are intended as a strong bonus, keep in mind they give up mounts for it (+1 movement, carrying capacity). That said, it will change in beta4 when they re-do all that stuff. The drota improvements used to be +1 Grain, THAT was crazy. Hello 10+ grain cities.

I'll check which items, I wanted to mention before I forget, sometimes when the centaurs die, they have female death sounds even though the units are all males. 

 

Items without weight (Some of these are vanilla I think):

 

Humming Bird Pike

Spectral Chain Shirt

Sacrificial Dagger (Pretty sure this one is vanilla)

Dancing shoes

 

There were a few more that were on the guy that went to Avalon, but I have been autosaving.

I apologize in advance if the above items are all vanilla.

 

BTW,

Is there a way to play these factions with the vanilla factions? Also, do you know if there is a hard limit (Besides map spacing and such) to the total number of factions you can have on a map?

If you want to fight the normal factions, just remove the Stormworld_ExpandedFactions_NoVanillaSov. I don't know about such limits.

Just a heads up to anyone using the mod. When beta 4 arrives, you'll need to follow the uninstallation instructions on the wiki if you have the rivermod installed. Do this before patching. Since the mod isn't compatible, you should also remove the mod folders.

I'm backed up so a beta 4 version of the mod won't be out until next month.

I had an idea for Reliquary:

Use this to have a weapon or item that is laced with... monster pee. The urine works as a poison, but can attract alot of intention from anyone that is downwind.  ;)

 

Use a random variable to have it apply the monster attraction once every few years. 

This is cool modifier that is perfect for some nifty equipment. You can change the mod type to player to get a faction result. I haven't tested using it in an event to cease monster hostility but I don't see why not. On the other hand, we could increase the value to 10000000.
