This is NOT the build you're looking for...

Some of you may have recently gotten a large Rebellion update via Steam.  *waves hand* This is not the build you're looking for. There is no new version.

This release was unintentional and wasn't ready for prime time. Apologies, but we will re-release when we're ready.

This is like coming home on your birthday, convinced that everyone forgot, and there is a surprise party waiting.  You start to think, Oh they didn't forget!  Then it turns out that it's for some guy named Leroy.

Not that I know from experience or anything...

Of course they are, they have no males

Yeah they do, they're just in the kitchen.

Advent have a caste system based on psionics.

Better psionics = better position in society. Advent females tend to be stronger psionically and so it's rare for an Advent male to have a powerful position like ship captain for instance.

Propably, but judging from the games they don't, which makes that joke work

Not this again, please. We PAID for the game, for having fun, not for being beta-testers. If there was no beta for preordering, as far as i am concerned, there would be no money for StarDock now. I would indeed want to buy it, but without giving me a chance to play it right now, there would be no point in preordering it.  That is cold, hard truth and i am sure, that i am not the only one, who preordered the game exclusively because of the access to beta.

"Not this again" - I should be saying that to you.

Their philosophy was that if you actually paid and pre-ordered the game. You would actually care about the final release and condition not just for the playing on enjoyment. And also you never actually PAID for the game yet. You can still cancel your pre-order and get all the money back if you so desired. The final cash in comes at release if anything.

Sure a large number of us pre-ordered for beta but some for different reasons other than enjoyment primarily

If you paid for the game and just want to have fun then wait for official release. Those of us that enjoy beta testing get to play it now even though it means the occasional goof up. This isn't Sword of the Stars ][.

See, yo pre ordene el juego para disfrutar la version beta, es muy bueno, si te gusta el juego, te gusta jugar la version bete, jugar con los titan y descubrir los nuevos efectos y graficos.

Yeah i pre order the game for enjoy the beta version, is very good, if you like the game, like play the version beta and play with titan´s, and discoverd the new effects and graphics.

Yo no tengo problemas en ser un beta tester, porque yo ayudo al balance del juego y en la version final, yo puedo jugar este juego como me gustaría jugarlo

I have no problems on be a beta tester, because i help for the balance of the game and in the release, I can play this game as you would like to play.

This concern is being treated with far more drama then it needs to be. Beta's are rarely about placing the conveniences or ideals of the tester first.

This is'nt the thread for it, but game companies used to have a hired staff for this.

Yes I understand the + and - of beta testers and the company involved.

Fact is your paying for early access, and they are using your access to test their game on a wide range of machines.

Really? I got a discount for doing pre order.

This is a nasty April Fools joke. I missed the Advent entirely!

My goodness! The nerve of some companies, getting testing done on a wide range of hardware while providing early Beta access that customers want. Really, someone needs to look into these evil win/win situations.

So did i, which was mostly why i pre-ordered. That, and getting early access to the beta. And if happen to run into bugs that i can report and get fixed, all the better.

The strange thing is that the TEC part of Rebellion crashes on me every hour or so almost like clockwork, the Advent update didn't crash once and I played it all of yesterday till about 9.30pm (maybe 12 hours total running time!). I have gone back to the TEC (no choice really) and it still crashes just like before.

Their "philosophy" is just a pretty explanation, why are they not doing free betas like others. It may be partially true, but sure as hell it is not the only reason. Not that i care.

Bottom line is, we paid for the game (money is gone from my bank account, could i really get it back, if i wanted? not that i want), so please stop making it look like we got the game to test for free, therefore we have absolutely no right to at least voice our disappointment, if similar situation like today occurs...

My god people,  stop whining.  The people expressing disappointment,  thats one thing.  I get that,  totally understandable.  The people demanding it be returned,  and crying out for blood over this injustice? Need to cool it.  Accidents happen.  The Advent weren't ready for release.  Some one hit a button they shouldn't have.  Be happy you got that sneak peak at the advent,  and calm yourselves.  They'll be back in due time.

Anyone got the Developer.exe handy? Don't know if it would work now that where back at 0.62 But hey, I'll wait If I have too. :P

Yeah. The only bugs I saw in the Advent were very minor.  And some stuff is even better than before.  For example, on the empire tree, the Titan appears as first on the fleet.  With the TEC, The Titan comes after the cap ships.  Also the movement bug eas fixed with the advent.

Clearly you weren't looking very hard. Several of the Advent Rebel techs did nothing, the loyalist tech that makes culture spread from every planet only worked on planets you controlled at the time you researched (and if you took those planet they would sometimes make culture for the other player). My ships were randomly getting buffs out of no where, like my whole main battle fleet getting a +20% tax income buff, as well a random range and damage output buff I'd get periodically for no good reason (I think there is a tech that does that but it was not triggering when it was supposed to). Several of the new abilities had place holder hud icons, etc. They still have some cleaning up to do to say the least.

I think i have to go with the calm down and take it with a grain of salt crowd here. Id love to have a "I already paid for this game, i want what i want (which is advent and Vasari)" hissy fit, but its kinda misplaced. Its thier game, and we are lucky enough to be in the beta. No one made you preorder it, and as much as i want more, i can apreciate them wanting to get THIER game right. I hope advent is re released soon, but of all of you who got the early taste, feel lucky, not robbed. I missed out on that breif mistake.

Sh*t happens, life goes on.

Im just happy i didnt lose my Gateway Rebel save after this. Im no worse off, since i never play the Advent.

Oh waaaah.  I paid for access to a game I want to play, but it's still in beta.  Rather than simply holding my money, waaah, like most companies do, waaah, they let me play the beta before release.  Waaah.

Waaah, betas are buggy, and waaah, betas are prone to have weird and unexpected things happen.  Waaah.  So I'm going to do my best newborn with a soggy diaper impression, waaah, because they took back a version that wasn't ready for release.  Waaah.

Simply put:  If this bothers you, wait until the game is actually released.  Duh.

im not whining but i just want to know how they accidentally allowed us to play advent
