Laptop making noises

For the last few days now, my laptop has been making squealing noises near the front-left corner.  My warantee is up, so i took it apart and switched to a different hard-drive hoping that was it, but the noises are still there.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5920, that I bought two years ago.  I'm running Windows Vista.

I'm really hoping it's something replaceable here, because I can't afford a new computer right now.

is it coming from where the fan is and have you blown out the dust and debirs that builds up over time inside?

No, the fan is at the back.  I have blown it out, though.  I'm concidering removing the whole motherboard next to look it over, but I wanted to check and see if anyone knew what it was, first.

It's the fan. Had the same about 2 months ago. Not expensive to get it fixed, but don't wait too long.

Wh are the noises coming from the front, tho, if the fan is at the back?

would be more then one fan in it to keep it cool.

Computers don't have many constantly moving parts that could squeal. It's either a fan, optical drive, hard drive or...... a pig.

I'll check again and look for a fan.  Though it would have to be a very tiny one, on the opposite side of the motherboard as the hard drive.

Thanks for all the responses.  Since so man suggest it's the fan, I'll focus on that for now.

Also, make sure to check that it's not coming from the speakers

Nope, not the speakers.

It was the fan.  I misjudged the location.  However, it made a series of tics when I switched my hard drive back...So I think I may have screwed myself.

Sounds like the fan is rubbing on something.  I'll have to tweak the mounting a little and hope it's not burning out, but no big deal if it is.  THat's and easy fix.
