So Morph, this is some stuff I found...
This is the SA80 L85A2 assault rifle. This is what I use in the Cadet Force. Very reliable etc. Uses standard NATO 5.56mm ammunition, and is mainly used on semi-automatic. (I assume you know that that is "pull the trigger once and one round is fired")
This is an SA80 L22A2 Carbine. We don't have any of those, seeing as they're used by tank crews. Needless to say, MOD doesn't go around giving tanks to cadet forces. Shame really...
And this is what I'm hopefully going to train to use. This is an SA80 L86A2 LSW (Light Support Weapon). Hard to find a picture of a proper one on its own (there's probably one there amidst the airsoft ones and the pictures of them in COD), so this is a model. It's original purpose was to be that of an LMG, but it only had a 30-round magazine, so it kind of failed... However, instead of letting MOD scrap it, somebody came up with a smart idea. While we bought Belgian Minimis and American SAWs, the LSW's role was changed. It is now used as a Designated Marksman Rifle. Basically, due to its superior range and accuracy (it's heavy though, and can't be modified, so it won't become standard issue) to the L85, it is used to make sure that any enemies who stray into the open die, even if they get past the suppressing fire of the L95s and LMGs.
As you can tell from the descriptions, the LSW is my favourite, even though I haven't used it much. Finally to finish off, here's a good one I have used (not the grenade launcher though) Before you ask, that's not me. I found this one on google images. There's some pics of me at CCF somewhere...
