Is there really a double standard?

Senator Packwood kissed a staffer in public and was forced out of office because he was a rapist.

President Clinton gropes a supporter in his private office and it is harmless sex.

Senator Lott makes a comment to an old friend and he is a racist. Lets forget that senator Lott and senator Thurman were both democrat senators when they became friends. They were not racist then but when they became republicans, they also became racist.

President Clinton tells Senator Kennedy that he should support Hillary because a few years ago Obama would be serving them coffee but its okay because President Clinton is the first black president.

Now that I think of it, there is no double standard. There is one standard. Anything to destroy republicans is okay, the rest does not matter.

Now that we understand how it works, is there any wonder why the press has little cred?

No, the wonder is that some seriously try to allege they still have credibility.

I still don't understand how the party that was once racist (Democrat Party) is somehow now the one accusing the other party of being racist. And I thought Obama winning was gonna change this whole racist perception the people of this country have but it seems voting for a Black man for President has only made racism flourish again except this time it's not about being racist, it's about who thinks you are racist.

Things have really changed in my life time. Most for the good, some as bad as ever. The problem is there are people making money off the real and perceived vestiges of racism, in the name of protecting the people from it. And...both left and right leadership kowtow to these people so they are not themselves perceived as racists or to obtain/keep power in their districts. These folks have a vested interest in keeping racism, at least on paper, alive and well. Donations are better than a day job.

Exactly!  What Obama did (and the election of Wilder before him) is lay bare their lies, but then too many do not use their brain for anything other than a hat holder, so they believe anything put in front of them.  The thinking ones realize that while racism (from all races against all races) will never be erradicated, it can be made irrelevant, and as you say, we have come a long way in both our life times.
