Force a program to run in a window

.... putting baby in a corner, if you will.

Hello,

 The crowd here usually can point me to a program or method to solve my computing woes. Currently, I'm looking for a way to force a game to run in a windowed mode. Specifically the game is Risk, but I have a few others that I'd like to do this with as well.

I've done a bit of google searching and couldn't find anything that worked, and before anyone suggests it I've already tried adding -w and -window and such in the command line.

Thank you.

Some games cannot run in a window.

Exactly. And some require a command line switch, or a setting in the Options.

And usually, you will need to go the specific game docs to determine if you can do so - so asking here is probably not the best option. Most games have dedicated forums which can answer this question.

I'm aware that it's not a standard request, and that it isn't a standard option for these long dead and abandoned games. If it was as easy as a command line switch or just clicking a setting option I would have done it weeks ago. I'm not quite that daft. ;) The games in question offer no vanilla way to run in a window, and I've done some searching and didn't find anything fruiful, so I asked here and a few other places since I've had decent success in the past at fixing random problems like this.

I was wondering if there was a program out there that allowed me to bypass this restriction. There's no need to run a 800x600 or 600x480 game full screen on 1920x1200 Monitor. I'd happily pay for a program that does this as well, just as long as it actually works.

@tazgecko

Thank you for the link. I couldn't get it to work correctly though, since it basically seems to be what I'm looking for, but it's underdeveloped and not all inclusive in the least. Still, at least things like this have been attempted.

Anyone else have some helpful hints or links? :grin:
