After seeing the popularity of transparent themes in the past few months I thought it was time for me to put my own version of the concept together. Hopefully I can do it justice, and provide a high quality Master skin with my own take on it.

The basic concept is a stripped down, very transparent, very fast WB that is perfect for screenshotting and showcasing wallpapers

There will be zero bevels or gradients, all the buttons will be flat and designed to be more like a touch screen interface.

It will have a white text and black text start menu substyle for use with light or dark wallpapers.

Heres a small screeny of what I have after a couple of days, I'll try to expose more as I strip it down. :hot:

Lastly, as if the other stuff wasnt enough the Nav. pane and favs area on left will not support trans. so unless its hidden (and I assume most people dont hide it, I know I dont.) then it throws another wrench in the fully trans. window idea.

Rarely use the Start Menu, and never use the search bar

Never use the Preview, Nav, or Details panes (though the latter is skinned at least)

Always use Firefox, which does have the glassed command bar, etc. option with the skin I mentioned

Have plenty of desktop real estate so I never need to full screen an explorer window

 

...I guess it just worked out that this transparent glass approach worked perfectly for me (re: screenshot above).

 

But yeah, those issues you mentioned would HAVE to be addressed to make things work for a skin you wanted to take to the maximum number of users.

It's a shame those parts aren't skinnable yet.  :(

Having some issues with the frames in Vista, Neil is having a look for me.. WB is being a stubborn ass.

Well , after a fairly lengthy conference with the man behind the curtain and a couple of the best in the business, seems what I thought I'd pulled off before isn't even possible... SO.. after some Vista design changes... back on track, few days should see it done.

Btw.. today was THE perfect beach day, solid sun, light breeze, flat calm seas with rolling smooth waves, temp 88 degrees.

Anyway.. Vista coming along nicely now, I'm leaving the explorer backgrounds almost opaque white but with one slide of the transparency slider in WBconfig one can obtain basically a full glass window.... as shown.

 

 

Anyway... hope to have this done by mid-week. :D

then maybe everyone else get naked too. I'm loving it myself ;P

What your seeing is a built in diagonal Vista-like pattern that shows thru in very trans. skins, Its a part of WB.
