Didn't try it. Read their spiel on it and decided it's worthless:
-No rogue/assassin. (Perfect World had no rogue/assassin and I couldn't play that, either.)
-No mage. (This is in contrast to most MMOs where the mage is exponentially the single most powerful class, so that's not necessarily a bad thing, but still, it's a standard item that's sorely missing.)
-Three "archer/hunter" classes.
-Three "swordsman" classes (although one could argue for a bit more categories here, as only one actually uses a sword.)
-The "priest" is not a dedicated priest but a priest/mage hybrid in an attempt to satisify both requirements. On paper, this fails, although having not tried the game I can't say how badly it fails. (The system as it is in Lineage 2, where the priest/mage hybrid is a starting point, is not a bad way to do it, as then mages can do minimal support and priests can do minimal damage.)
-Bottom line: No variety.
Now im going to have to disagree with A LOT of the stuff you have said. First of all I think you have the whole "class" system a bit confused. Basically, there are eight classes: Sword, Spear, Axe, Archer, Gun, Maniac (chainsaw), Musician (guitar) and Staff. Your main has to be one of those. So your main can be one of the 8. You then get mercenaries to join your party as you go along (by level 50 you have a max of 8 mercs, so thats 9 people in your party). Your mercenaries can also be one of the 8 classes mentioned above, however, there is more variety with them. You can get two different type of axe mercs (Viking and Beast Tamer), 4 swords (lady knight, swordsman, exorcist, Sailor) etc. etc. (goes on with each class).
Archer main is basically your "assasin/rogue" like character. They dress and move like them, and fit the description too (can attack any enemy on the field despite their row, but can only attack one at a time). No Mage? Staff class is a mage. Just because they dont use the specific name "mage" doesnt mean no classes fit the descriptions/requirements for one. And you can get a "dedicated preist". There are two different type of priests that are used for heal/protect. The shaman which is concentrate on HEAL and the Monk which is concentrating on protect. Im really confused at your statement about them trying to make a mage/priest hybrid. They dont...
Your bottom line is no variety? EIGHT classes for your main? Within those eight classes, theres about another 3 for each of those classes. That ends up with about a total of 48 different type of characters which are pretty unique if you ask me. Thats the complete opposite of "no variety" imo. I think you have to play this game, you seem to have the whole class/type system confused.
-They had an update a while back which they were absolutely exuberant about where the amount of kills you're allowed per day is restricted to 100 when under level 50 and 50 from there up until level 100. Now maybe this is workable, but based on the idea that the promotion that they ran/are running that if you're not happy with the game by the time you get to level 50 they'll give you $20, I don't think 100 kills a day is going to get you anywhere. In your average MMO, that won't even take you to level 15, and from there it only gets worse.
Was thinking the exact same thing as you while I was downloading this game. However, first of all, you have an
unlimited amount of kills through out the game. Basically you have 100 stamina which resets every day, and as long as you have above 0 stamina you get double exp from enemies and triple item drops. I am nearly level 50 (level 45) and I have only ONCE ran out of stamina. If you follow the quest/storyline you will 100% not run out of stamina. In fact the only time I ran out of stamina was because I assumed this game was like every other MMORPG where you had to grind after each quest and so spent hours midlessely grinding. I then had 0 stamina. So basically, this whole stamina system makes mindless grinding less effecient and means you actually have to do quests to get greater rewards. Not to mention this system actually helps the community, as you can get your stamina back up each day before it resets by helping the community (answering questios, sharing info etc. will get your stamina up). Level 1-15 was done in my first day btw. Reading about this system sounds sucky, but in reality/pratically it is GREAT.
-Did I mention it's turn based? After all the above, you'd think it couldn't get worse, but it's turn based. The last turn based MMO I played was Dofus...and I quit that for a reason (although admittedly its execution wasn't that bad in comparison).
Again, thought the exact same thing as you. TBS = boring I thought. This game however is 100x more exciting gameplay wise then hack n'slash. If you played FVII you will know what I mean (however i still think this gameplay is better). When I get a quest where im asked to kill monsters, I actually look forward to it because gameplay is good!
-And now of course they're doing the cash shop thing. Have fun with that; if you wanted a free to play, I'm sure everyone else running around with shit that they spent $100 real life cash on that you can't even get ingame via normal means is going to be enjoyable.
I explained that before, item mall is no where near a problem.
First of all, I doubt that. Secondly, even if that's the case, an option between spending $5 on something and spending a year getting the ingame cash for it is not an option and you know it. (Hyperbole, probably, but the point still stands.)
The thing is I buy stuff that you get from the item mall on a regular bases - i have been playing for just under 2 weeks. Once you hit higher levels you get money 10x faster then before, and literally anything from the item mall is easy to get from the market. A lot of the stuff from the Item Mall that costs alot required you to be level 70+ anyway (e.g. Useful Mounts), which by that time you should easily be making enough money to buy them easily. I can NEVER tell the difference between someone who uses the item mall and who doesnt - that in itself proves it to be a great system. I dont care if it sucked in other f2p games, it doesnt in this one. If anything in games like WoW its more obvious because people just buy crazy amounts of gold for cheap and can get crazy equip in a week instead of a year.
One last complaint: It's dubious at best that the item shop is advertised on the front page but you can't see what the exchange rate of real cash to their coin system is until you register. Granted, if I'm making this complaint, I'd be making it of all others who have the same practices, but I'm making it specifically in this case because of all the other things about this game that turn me off; hence I wouldn't register in the first place.
Look you clearly have the complete wrong idea of this game. At least read the reviews first, not just its just game info if your going to judge the game without even playing it. I had a very similar mindset to you before downloading, but after playing it i will tell I was proven completely wrong.
