New Star Trek Theme............

New Star Trek Theme............

Saw this on TSF today...........For all you Trekkies out there..........Don't turn this into a Hyperdesk 'bashing' thread, please. We went through that little immature debacle a few months ago. Just admire the creativity and even if you don't use Hyperdesk just admire the art work, cool icons and there's a free media player remote too.

Oh, I just wanted to stop in and say the Star Trek movie is looking awesome.  I just got my daughter a PSP, so I might have to check that out.  :)

Flagship

I would need a Vista version.

The titlebars spoils the look of the entire flagship theme IMO. Which is a shame, because everything else displayed is top notch.

The Disney shot REALLY impressed me though... It's perfectly homogenous in quality, and 100% Disney! I need to get myself some kids, otherwise I have no reason to get it (if a version is released for my OS). :)

I'll second that. The graphics are stunning. I just hope they're the same in the skin!

Is that necessary doc?  You imply that there is false advertising going on.  If you have evidence of this, my bad but otherwise you shouldn't say things like this on a public forum.  It would be something to take up with Hyperdesk support I think.

m1....an honest hope! No criticism in there. I think they look gorgeous. o_O

Actually I think we're going to be tweaking the titlebars for flagship. At least decreasing their height, possibly 3Ding them like the taskbar.

Not necessarily... Even though a still can be very cool, it may not look as good in a dynamic environment (like on a live desktop).

Any implications are in the mind of the reader.

Thanks mick....Please let me make this clear to everyone: I wish Jeff all the good luck in the world. I love the look of the skins on TSF website. I didn't mean what m1 thought. All my prior questions have been answered by starkers in pm. I'm sorry I don't know as much about computers as most on the site....I wish I did.

I look forward to that with huge interest, it would really improve the overall look.

Oh yes....when your skins come to WC, I hope I'm Customer #1, Jeff.

If our skins come to WC. Brad seems into the idea, but it's up to WC. I'm not sure how much support there will be for us to participate like that. We'll see. If we get the word, we'll start almost immediately. I'll be looking for 1 or 2 WindowBlinds themers to help with the ports since Kol has a full plate of work. I have to convert all of our icons anyway for Vista for Hyperdesk so i can do the icon packages myself. Wallpapers are done. Widgets are done. WMP skins when applicable are done. 2 Artists working on the ports, I could probably get them all done within 4 weeks.

who was that guy from custo who used to hate us. Was like an anime japanese name that started with an M?

Wasn't that Miriku? Could never figure that one out...... :digichet:

OK, little off-topic again....but "back then" there was a 'lively' debate about whether ALL skins/skinning should be free.  The more vocal participants were on Customize.org.  On one 'side' were several seniors/admins of Custo...and on 'the other side' were the people who then were just about the only commercial entities within skinning, namely Stardock, Pixtudio, and TheSkinsFactory.  This was quite a while before Stardock/Wincustomize introduced the 'Master skins' feature which provides the opportunity for many more skinners to have a commercial option/outlet for their wares.

Essentially, anyone on the 'wrong side' of the debate was a dinosaur living in the past.

What began as a back-yard hobby-craft has matured and come of age, as all art-forms eventually do....;)

TSF - Welcome back to Wincustomize! You know I enjoy your hyperdesk themes. I would enjoy them even more if/when they are ported to windowblinds.

oh yea., i would like to point some threads about that but or this ones are gone or hard to find, but the main argument was:

"why should i buy a skin if i already get my payed vertion of WB? they offer me free skins and now they with this sh*t? i will not spend a dime on this skin!

they were like common dude! no one is forcing you to buy anything!

Well said :)

If one can make a living out of doing something they love.... Go for it!!  Im still tryin to get Pizza hut to hire me as a taste tester  :pizza:

Welcome back Jeff.

I still stand by my Comment on the buttons, tho not meant as a bash. Merely a opinion. They do look awesome and I realize took plenty of work, but to me they just dont fit the look. But an outstanding skin none the less.

A general thanks to all.

Jafo: It wasn't just Custo, there were plenty of people at Skinz that we had it out with on a daily basis. Toasty and Mian were always cool about it though.

The thing was we weren't selling themes at all. All the work that The Skins Factory did was released to the public for free. Our clients were paying us not the community. We were bringing skinners real work for doing what they did as a hobby for free. I never could understand the resentment toward SkinWerkz and then The Skins Factory. It's like would you prefer the artist work at Home Depot than get paid for doing what they love? Ridiculous.

I remember hiring little $teven for a skin. I think we paid him like 500-1000 USD. The kid was like 16 years old, did something he normally did for free and got a fat payday.

And before there was a Pixtudio or The Skins Factory there was SkinWerkz. :-)

I think we would all love to skin for a living.........

I know i would....

cos it's great fun but time is allways the problem (WORK takes up alot of my time :S ).......

Hat's off to anyone who can do what they love doing and get paid for it..

Firsts posts on this topic has disturbed me. but now I see everything is fine. and everyone is happy.

"StarTrek" theme is fine, icons extraordinary. and all themes from the SkinsFactory very well done. I know many people in the world like "Disney" themes.

I like "Crysiz", like textures on it.

And I think we can't compare WindowBlinds and msstyle. both of this methods good but in different ways. and every have its own bad sides.

msstyle run fast and its closer to original Windows themes, but WindowBlins gives more features for skining of windows.

skining is very hard job. and i think usefull job. in present time even conservators who always work on gray windows classic theme(from win 95), now this people like skining too. and without doubts this job must be good paid. May be many people is accustomed that skins is free and think that skiners eat holy air. but i think that 20 $ for so great Themes as StarTrek or Disney is not high price.
