New Star Trek Theme............

New Star Trek Theme............

Saw this on TSF today...........For all you Trekkies out there..........Don't turn this into a Hyperdesk 'bashing' thread, please. We went through that little immature debacle a few months ago. Just admire the creativity and even if you don't use Hyperdesk just admire the art work, cool icons and there's a free media player remote too.

Doc: Just to clarify things here. Given that the msstyles patch is fairly generic and therefore would not have a dedicated customer support area, I said that it may have been TGTSoft who failed your friend regarding customer support.... given that many of its customers, even before it closed its doors, were complaining about the lack of support, etc.
@starkers You were correct...it was stylexp.

I still have a problem with the thought I'm hacking my system with msstyles.

It's done in memory. No system files are touched. It's the reason why you can install 3 service packs in a row and it never breaks for XP or Vista. Since we launched 8 months ago the patch has not broken. So how is it not safe?

Everyone I've heard from called it "a hack" or "a patch (=hack)"...I'm the first to say "I don't know", and no one is explaining anything...so I'm left with my ignorance and as a consequence, fears and prejudices.

A patch is a hack? So everytime Microsoft or Apple patches something on an OS, they're just delivering "hacks"? :-)

Is it me or does that smiley face look like its on Meth?

No,this one's on meth.:omg: That one is on cocaine.;)

@TSF-Jeff: Still no explanation. Since when does what I wrote rate an insult?

When Microsoft or Apple patches their OS's, that's one thing. msstyles doing it is something else.

Are you going to explain it or try to insult me?

How am I insulting you? You know what forget it. I can't even make a comment without people taking it the wrong way.

Nimbin: I wasn't even referring to you when i said that. Paranoid much?

LOL, yes and they really are out to get me :P

Let me reiterate. It has never broken. There are no bigger updates than Service Packs. It has never broken.

So? To whom were you replying, and how was I supposed to take what you wrote? As a non sequitor?

You're talking about the smiley face comment? You have it in bold. What in the world does that have to do with you? Did you create the site's emoticons? That's a real question by the way.

I was talking to everyone reading and you when i spoke about our patch.

There are definitely limitations when creating themes with msstyles. I don't think anyone will argue that point. But having the patch break? Is a non-issue. I speak from experience of using Hyperdesk for well over a year now on 6 different personal machines and doing countless reformats and SP upgrades. Nor has anyone come to us and said the patch broke. Even on Vista with the new theming engine there are limitations. I don't care and according to our sales neither do a lot of other people. So to each their own. But i wasn't insulting. I'm insulted that you thought that. Just kidding.

I put it in bold print to emphasize what I found to be insulting.

You found my comment about an emoticon that has nothing to do with you insulting? Right. It was an off-topic observation.

Comment about a smiley being an insult?! Now that I find a bit far out...
Insult to whom?

Okay well you got me there. I don't even know how to respond to #1.

#2. .Msstyles aka Microsoft Visual Styles are Microsoft's native themes... Luna. Olive. Etc. In order for an .Msstyles to be applied it has to be digitially signed by Microsoft. Until the patch came. The patch basically turns off the check for the digital signature so you can apply an unsigned .msstyles.

Originally the patchers replaced the uxtheme.dll. A big no no. So Thomas from TGT Soft who used to work for Microsoft on the NT Kernal and IE went to them and got them to say okay to patching in memory. We patch the same way in memory. Which means if you uninstall Hyperdesk, your system is back to the way it was. The reason he was never cease and desisted by them. Now do they publicly condone it? No, not really. They were going to use his app in one of their Plus Packs but the deal fell through. We also got permission from their OEM division to use the patch on Alienware Vista machines which went through Microsoft Legal. Personally i see zero harm in it. And as far as stability goes, our products are sound and stable. There will always be bugs in any software application where another app doesn't play nicely. But that comes with the territory.

*slow refresh rate.

I still don't see how that makes it different from a hack...I guess I'm just stupid. Microsoft patches it's own OS, anyone doing anything else is a different matter....Sorry, but I don't get it, Jeff. You're turning off the check procedure...that's not a hack?

i feel that you guys are forcing this thread to go on with comments full of nonsense.., did you notice that the topic of this post is about the new Hyperdesk theme, Star Trek and not how the hell Jeff and his team do there job or how the F*** msstyles work or how good WB/My Colors are or aren't the best comparing to Hyperdesk or else..., common., stop hiting the dead horse

All and by all i mean ALL what TSF skins have done are amazing (TO ME), including the new themes, becouse are simple and clean themes.., i haven't seen any other skinner (without counting KkONne) who have made a high level(kick ass) WMP skin sinse i got here at wincustomize...., TSF, Hyperdesk Stardock (my colors) all of them do what they do and they dont need to hear comments of how thick the window frame is or how annoying and useless is a rocket in the start menu is.., just quit it.., think of the children! :pout: ;)

Put your irony radar on before proceeding to read the rest of this post.

This post is strictly meant to be humorous, I'm in no way angry, religious or brainwashed by some crazy sect. If you're offended by silly replies, look away... If you're offended by jokes with religious references, look away... If you ARE religious, you know the Lord will judge me, so you don't really need to be pointing fingers at me. I'm just a heathen swede you know...

All software sucks because they are made by humans, and we are all imperfect. Who are we to play God and create our own working environments? And how DARE you imply that we are allowed to have differing opinions? That's disgraceful!! If God had intended for us to be different, we wouldn't have gotten the bible.

Now... Please, can we stop whining? I'm getting a sore throat here. ;)

Klingons makes more sense than your reaction of them being mentioned in this thread.
