Hate Speech - or Joke?

Hate Speech - or Joke?

Just recently, San Cho posted this Photoshop picture of Sarah Palin in a KKK uniform in the comment section of my blog.

-

I personally condemn the picture and I can't find any humor in it.  My question is simple. Does anyone else condemn this?

And who supports it? I have joked around with photoshop pictures before, but I have never put anyone in a Hitler or KKK uniform because that goes beyond being a joke and crosses over into the realms of full blown hate speech.

Doesn't seem more unwise than those who support Obama and don't know why.

I love it when people toss out the "hate speech" crap. Most of the time it isn't even close to hate speech but that seems like a handy little tag to put on anything you disagree with.

It's a very stupid politically motivated picture. No doubt about that.  It demonstrates a very immature and hyperbole oriented mind. No doubt. But it's far from anything even remotely resembling hate speech.

Perhaps the relative location of the viewer will dictate the meaning.

From JU it is a political statement.

From WC it is a clever bit of Photoshop.:wc:

Well, I suppose that would solve the problem.

The major news media outlets with their love affair with Sen. Barack Obama and his socialist history & sordid voting record does just fine without anyone else joining in on the smear campaigns focused on Gov. Sarah Palin. All this does is make light of the American responsibility to vote within an informed manner.

Socialist? Nonsense.

Smear campaign? Heck, she did it all by herself...unless CNN shot the moose and fired the cop.

Oh yes...minor point "to vote in an informed mannr". It's OK I understood what you meant.

I also think this campaign (like this thread) has gone on way too long.

no i dont find the picture offensive.

personally, i would rather have seen a picture of her in the nude!

yep, i'm just a womanising pervert.

The real vacuum is between her ears.

McCain/Obama, what difference does it make? They're both about as false as you can get. I feel sorry for anyone about to vote. What a choice to have to make.

Correct. It is a diversion. My disgusted feeling? Obama slightly better because the brain is better and because the thought of a Pres. Palin will be the end of it all. Brainless twit that she is.

Jafo gags at the thought...

What???  And never have another wet dream about lipstick wearing moose ever again???  Some people are gluttons for punishment, that's all I can say!   (LOL cos I don't got a smily button right now)

Ahhhh, finally somebody else who has hit the nail right on the head.  I've always said that Sarah Palin has two brains... one's lost in space, and the other got so lonely its out there looking for it.

All joking aside, I don't see the pic as a hate thing either, but more a tongue in cheek way of saying Sarah Palin is of dubious character and has characteristics not befitting the office of VP.

While I do not hate anyone, and I certainly do not hate Sarah Palin, I do not like her, either, and agree that she is of dubious character and is far too spend happy - $150,000+ of Repub funds on clothing, makeup and shoes, etc to tart herself up - tens of thousands of Alaskan taxpayers money on flights and hotel accomodation for her kids - to be VP or anywhere near the US Administration/Economy.

Shoot, if McCain dies while in office (and he could), Palin would be the loosest cannon in US Presidential history... and you'd all be cannon fodder, suffering the gunpowder burns of her spend-happy ways and lavish wardrobe. ... bridges to nowhere.  Yup, you'd  get STD's... 'Sarah Transmitted Debts', and the current financial crisis will seem like a dime down a drain hole in comparison.

Is Barack Obama any better?  Yes, I believe he is!  While Obama has been judged, condemned and criticised for various acquaintances and associations (none of which make him spend-happy, corrupt or a terrorist), Palin has cock-ups and dubious practices that can be attributable directly to her.  Put bluntly, Palin lacks integrity, is predominantly self-serving and has far too many character flaws to holes any kind of public office and should never have been let out of the kitchen in the first place.

BTW, that last remark was/is not sexist... just pointing out the obvious/stating a fact.  If she had stayed in the kitchen tending to her own family's needs, nobody else gets hurt... as President and she effs up the recipe, the whole world ends up with food poisoning.

Wrong, Doc!  I told you weeks ago in a PM that Sarah Palin gave me ED - or to be more specific... a soft-on.  LOL.

It's said that clothes don't maketh the man/woman... but in Palin's case, head to toe clothing (the more the better) certainly maketh her a considerably more attractive proposition than the alternative.

Hmmmm!  And I'm still having nightmares about that lipstick-wearing moose... hehe.

funny thing is we are told to be civil (using the "F" word) in a thread that has Sarah in a KKK costume...

Well....at the rate our candidates are progressing from dumber to even dumber...in the next 12 years....if were still here...we'll be voting for plants anyway. So enjoy it while you can. Kinda hard to dress a plant in a KKK outfit. LOL

We are all going to be on food stamps in a year..... perhaps discussing Palin even more is the cure. :P

Is HE going to be charged with a HATE CRIME?

I hope to hell he will be charged with attempted murder in the act of a felony. That's a buttfull more jail time (that's a legal term, trust me).

That being said, the dirtier campaign (by far) is the McCain Campaign. Please let's at least agree on that. The anger generated by that kind of stuff in "marginal" individuals is not met with the desire to have an argument or rational discussion. I think the guy was a head case long before this protracted, ridiculous spectacle and when someone looks at his past record, they'll be tons of violence in it.

I never cease to wonder at our preference and ability to cause each other pain in stead of joy.

I just don't want to touch the race thing because of the pain involved, but I believe the black/white thing doesn't necessarily make it a hate crime nor does it make it not a hate crime: For instance, a white person harming another white person based on religion would be a hate crime, and the same for a black person harming another black person based on religious belief. If he sut her based solely on political belief it might be arguable. I don't think he actually admitted doing that, did he? By the way, I didn't hear of this on CNN (don't start the "liberal media" stuff, ok?). Where is the reference for this?

What bothers me little-whip is this:

Is HE going to be charged with a HATE CRIME?

I doubt it. Why? Because he's black, that's why.

This is based on your prejudiced belief that a Prosecutor will "cut him slack" because of race. That doesn't make any sense for a couple of reasons:

1. The definition of "hate crime": One perpetrated based on race, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or other protected status. Where does this act fall per that definition.

2. A Prosecutor generally does his thing as part of a career path and prsecuting a "hate crime" would get him/her lotsa hot press (i.e. blood for a vampire).

There are probably more, but I was awakened early by a clumsy cat.

On a personal note, I hope you're feeling better. :-)

Doc

Yup. Glad you've noted that Skinhit, but it was a request: I didn't tell you to be civil.

Civility matters. I didn't start this stupid thread and I don't care a tinker's damn about your politics (love your skinning and "give and take" with Po', though) but I eschew the misuse and poor use of language and deplore profanity (the refuge of the inarticulate) and the anger which motivates it.

I seriously doubt you'll find any profanity in my postings and if you relate to what I posted, I thought the entire thread was foolish and over the top. I suspect it was initiated as a "let's be nice to Sarah", "Poor Sarah" or "look at what those evil Dems did to our pretty baby" thread at JU and bled to WC (where I request civility also, on occasion). If you wish to pursue this further, please take it to pm.

And so they come crawling out from under the fridge...

Considering Obama's association with a racist pastor, whom he knew for over a decade and who was his "spiritual guide" before he suddenly barely knew him, I would say he lacks integrity.

The man is not even fifty and has achieved NOTHING (except for himself), yet he wrote TWO autobiographies. (I wonder whether he mentioned writing the first in the second?) I would say that is "prodemoninantly self-serving".

As for character flaws, I think it is a character flaw to work as a lawyer suing banks that won't give mortgages to poor people and then present yourself as the President who is best qualified to solve the economic crisis caused by his earlier work.

If there are, they dont normally make the news.

That pretty much sums up OBama (except the Kitchen part) and he is running for Pres, not Vice.  But it also demonstrates the misogyny of the Obama supporters.  Like Lays Potato chips, they cant stop at trashing just one woman.
