activating newer version w/ no internet

help please.

 

I havent played this game in more than a year....

 

installed game on my new laptop. i wanted to install the collectors edition over top- but found that it looks like THAT,

has been upgraded over the past year, it is now called bonus pack 2.

i am swinging between a pc w/ internet---and a lapper w/ NO internet.

i got prepared to kick some planetary booty- and when i ran the disc, it asked me to activate and email.

 

is there a way around this????? please say yes

The "bonus pack" is simply an early patch. The latest version of the game is 1.5, available on SDC.

In any case, you do need to activate the game to run it with patches. Only the "clean" install off the disc will run without doing so. It should be pretty straightforward to do though. When you try to activate, it will attempt to connect, and when it sees that it cannot, it will give you the option to do it by email. Then just copy the text and subject line it gives you to a floppy/usb drive/etc., take it back to a net-connected machine, and send it off. You'll get a file in return to put back on the game machine so it will run.
