COMBINES UZII'S SINS PLUS WITH BAILKNIGHT'S GRAPHICS MOD FOR ONLINE PLAY

Been getting a lot of people interested in a standardized combination of the two mods mentioned in the titles.
I took it upon myself to combine them in what i call Adama Repack.

This takes the graphical aspect from Balknight's mod and merges it with Uzii's Sins Plus mod, keeping none of the gameplay changes except of the ones specific to new planet types that were created by Uzii and his compadres.

All the credit belongs to Uzii, Balknight, and those who were mentioned in Uzii's readme, i just compiled.

This Repack Includes the newest versions of both mods, as per March 31, 2008. Namely:
Balknight's Graphics Mod v1.2
Uzii's Sins Plus v1.3a + v1.04 Compatibility and Balance Changes

This mod does not attempt to change any gameplay mechanics. It plays just like the vanilla (1.04), but with new planets and greatly overhauled effects.

This mod has been compiled in the interest of multiplayer consistancy, so that people can meet online and play this exact mod together, without having to worry whether or not it will work.

When I try to load this I get a mini dump.

Anyone else have this problem?

From the readmes included I deduced he used sins plus 1.03a .. but as for bailknight's, no idea.

I could be incorrect, but I seem to remember that someone already did this, but Balknight was unhappy. You might want to speak to him before distributing this.

Just noticed.. why does it say "The Mars Effect 1.5" in the main menue when enableing the mod?

Balknight's v1.1 and Sins Plus v1.3a. The newest versions. If you are getting a minidump, i can't help you. I've had about 20 people install it already, and 1 got a minidump. Just make sure that when u enable it, you're enabling it from vanilla, and then clicking "load at startup," and restarting the game.

@hollow, i sent him a PM, as i did for Uzii. Uzii said it was fine, and I'm waiting on a response from him. Creators have the final say.

Beats me.. I have a fresh install, freshly patched to 1.03 and just unziped it into my mods folder.

Should work, doesn't.. what the hell, I should be studying anyways.

It might be because you extracted the wrong folder into the mod.

I have 2 Sins folders in this package. Make sure that you extract the one that is next to the readme files, that is, in the same folder as the readme files, and not the folder that includes the readme files. Also try extracting first, and then copying it into the mods folder.

The folder u should be copying into the mods folder should be named:
"Sins Plus and Balknight's Graphics Mod_Adama_Repack_v1.0"

Not, "Sins+andBalknightsGfx_adamaRepack v1.0"

I did just that.
I am now unpacking the files once again, maybe I made a mistake somewhere or were to impatient and didn't notice he wasn't done unpacking when I copied the files..

And I renaimed the mod's folder into "Adama Repack".. looks a little more descriptive ingame ;)

Ok, here's where he had some issues. You may want to take a closer look at the thread to see if what he had to say pertains to what you're distributing. Post 44 is where he starts to chime in.

That should be fine if you're playing it offline, but you cannot play against other people online unless your mod package is named exactly the same as the people online.

I will change the name when the next version of either Balknight's or Uzii's mod comes out to something shorter and better looking, but for now, this repack is about consistency for people who meet online and want to play it together.

BTW: thanks for combining these mods, though I only tried Uzii's one. What other mods for graphics and gameplay are recommendable?

There the file is back running, just had to do a little minor upkeep. Heh.

@colion there isn't really another mod that does anything that makes the game look quite as good as balknight's mod does.

Also, there are some other mods that are in progress, as well as some that have been released, but i tend to stay away from mods that affect balance.

commander from what i understood from that thread he was mad because he wasnt asked if that guy can merge it, you did ask, so im sure its not a problem..... btw thx for the merge and thx for uzii and balk for thier great mods :D

I can't get this to work. I get a minidump error when I try to enable it.
I've tried manually extracting it and copy/pasting it into my mods folder, directly extracting it to my mods folder, and overwriting an existing copy of the mod.

I've tried each of the 7z and zip files and redownloaded each of them just in case one was corrupt.

Directly extracting either file to the mods folder results in errors.

When i get home i'm going to host those two files separately so u can download and use the mod properly.

I know for a fact the archives i uploaded are not faulty =/
